Exchange rates make so much bloody difference. :cmad:

At least this is the last direct sequel/followup to an MCU movie that was released before the big change in exchange rates at the end of 2014.

I'm glad Infinity War won't be hampered too much by this in comparison to Age of Ultron, since that came out in 2015, right after the big change.

Going to be a super interesting weekend!!!

I think next weekend is the interesting weekend. Let's face it, JL is going to open big. No word of mouth is going to effect that. But next weekend...
Word of mouth is going to effect whether people go back for seconds or not.

so JL decided to help TR yep Im happy not gonna lie about it
I really hope people can go to repeat viewings of TR this & next week

Will there be a big drop in screens on Thanksgiving wkend btw???

I hope it has a great hold!

I enjoyed JL. Will have to see how big it opens and how well it holds. Ragnarok should be fine regardless.

Forbes
'Thor: Ragnarok' Defies Gravity In India, Catches 'Spider-Man Homecoming' With 72 Cr./$11.1M Gross

If you had told me two weeks ago that Thor: Ragnarok would soon match the box office heights reached by Spider-Man: Homecoming during its India release this past July, I’d have told you that you sounded like your head was full of spider webs.

After all, the best performing film in India for the hammer-wielding Marvel superhero, Thor: The Dark World, had earned barely half of what Spider-Man: Homecoming had collected.

India loves Spider-Man so much that it has made the Marvel web slinger’s movies the biggest of all the solo superhero pictures ever to release there. Three of the top ten highest grossing Hollywood movies in the country's history feature the crime-fighting teen, with Spider-Man 3 at number 7, The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) at number 9, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) at number 10. Spider-Man: Homecoming was a downside surprise because it only became the 14th highest-grossing Hollywood film that India has seen. No other movie superhero has even a single solo film in the top 10.

Indians are so taken with Peter Parker that they made him their own, with a character named Pavitr Prabhakar starring in a comic book series called "Spider-Man India." Creators Sharad Devarajan, Suresh Seetharaman, and Jeevan J. Kang teamed up with Marvel to create a four-book series in which Pavitr Prabhakar is a simple Indian boy from a remote village who moves to Mumbai where he is endowed by an ancient yogi who grants him the powers of a spider so that he can fight the evil that threatens the world. Along with Pavitr, major characters in the book include his Aunt Maya, Uncle Bhim, the villainous Doctor Octopus, and of course Pavitr's love interest, Meera Jain.

So the idea that Thor, a minor player in the Indian movie landscape, would ever come close to matching any Spider-Man movie’s collections seemed completely ludicrous.

And yet now the Thor threequel has caught Homecoming’s 72.2 crore / $11.1 million lifetime India box office total, and will surpass it this weekend. After a 34 crore ($5.2 million) debut weekend, it added an additional 30 crore through its second weekend, and an additional ?8 crore through the Thursday, the last day of its second week.

If Thor: Ragnarok can pick up an additional 3 crore this weekend—a realistic target—it will nudge past Homecoming and also Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation to claim the rank of 13th highest-grossing Hollywood film in India’s history. Another 1 crore will put it beyond Marvel’s first Avengers film for the all-time number 12 spot.

In estimates this morning, Ragnarok led all films in regular release yesterday with $2.4M for a second week’s take of $70.6M and a two week running cume of $225.6M. This weekend, Ragnarok, will easily eclipse the domestic lifetime cume of last year’s Doctor Strange from Marvel which ended its run at $232.6M. Ragnarok is projected to rake in north of $30M+ this weekend despite Justice League‘s presence in the marketplace.

Their weekend projection is very odd. $30M+? That's insane. What makes them say that? Was Thanksgiving moved up a week or something? lol

Fair to say Thor will be at the #2 spot?

Yeah JL will open big although the current projections are...interesting

Who knows, perhaps 4 or 6 weeks out, TR will move back ahead of JL in daily results, due to poor legs on JL. That would be funny.

$30 million?
I'll take it! Lol.
Now sure to hit $250 by Sunday night.

$2,419,866 on Thursday. Domestic total is up to $225,596,170 after 14 days of release.

Curious about the Friday number. Is it going to go as expected, or has deadline in fact not gone completely mad? Find out in roughly 20 hours :p

And internationally:

Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok stands at $462.7m internationally through Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures International.

So the worldwide total is at $688.3M after Thursday.

Just with domestic numbers? Probably by the end of tomorrow.

Sounds about right. I really hope Ragnarok's legs are such that it manages to pass GotG 2's total gross. Not that I didn't love GotG 2 (it's my second favourite CBM this year), but I prefer Ragnarok and I think it deserves to do slightly better.

I guess it should be around 730M after this weekend. Rough estimate.
