You have to remember that for a good portion of that trailer he is stripped of his power. Then you also have to take in the fact that they're not going to show all the money shots in the first trailer. I think the second trailer will show some more feats of strength that you might be looking for.

I saw the first Thor trailer today, and I must say I was really disappointed. The props are great and the actors are first-rate, but Thor just comes across as a muscular football player who's maybe had some gymnastics training. At least, I didn't see any feat of strength that should put him in a 100-ton class like the Hulk or Thanos like the comics state. He's basically a Captain America with a hammer and cape.

If my predictions are correct, when the Avengers rolls around I could see the Hulk becoming the bad guy and tossing them all around - including Thor - like rag dolls. Iron Man could put a smack-down on Thor at this rate.

Geez, it's only the first trailer dude chill & didn't you see Thor slam his hammer & shatter a HUGE crater into the ground at the end?

Iron Man didn't do anything NEARLY that powerful in movies, & Hulk didn't in The Incredible Hulk either. Besides, this Thor looks FAR more powerful than he did in "Hulk Vs."

Tricon7 is talking reckless, because the trailer only showed VERY brief glimpses of Thor in action. That guy is talking like he's seen the whole movie...smh

Yeah, that's me - reckless.

Afterward I remember in the trailer Odin telling Thor that he was stripping him of his power, so admittedly we may not be seeing Thor's strength since it's been taken from him. Still, for the (arguably) strongest Marvel character it's a bit odd not seeing any feat of strength in a Thor trailer (and I'm talking sans hammer).

I suspected months ago that Disney/Marvel was going to make him into a guy who controlled the weather, whose hammer could do amazing things, and who wasn't from earth. So far I seem to be batting 1000.

Re, the Bold...Well, that is what he is. Regarding the strength issue: In the Earth scenes shown in the trailer he is powerless, when in armor he is not.

We didn't see much in armor, but that bit when he smashes the ice?
That's an ice planet, and that smash destroys it.

Now I don't expect them to have him as strong as in the comics, just as the Hulk wasn't in his film, but I expect when Avengers arrives that Thor will not get tossed around like a rag doll. I also figure regardless of Iron-Mans movie success they won't have him able to take down Thor.

Seriousy, you really think a "Thor" movie is gonna have the main character powerless the whole movie?

Clearly he is going to get his strength back so he can fight The Destroyer & Loki. They're not going to show all the biggest scenes in "one" trailer.

Hulk & Iron Man weren't nearly as strong in their films as they were in the comics either.

Tricon yer nuts

We get to see a powerful THor on Asgaurd then yes Odin Strips him of his powers and sends him to earth.... BUT CLEARLY....

He becomes worthy gets the hammer back to fight Destroyer on Earth, then fully powered he goes back to asgaurd to face Loki who has Odins Spear ....giving him more power and they fight in a helacious battle.

Thor defeats Loki, and Loki probably escapes to Earth Forcing THor to go back to Earth FULLY powered.

Setting up a show down with the Hulk In the AVENGERS ....who will no doubt be controlled or influenced by Loki.

Just curious... why do you guys think they are so hesitant to show us a shot of Thor with his helment on (at least from the front). I guess they want this to be a surprise or something? Seems kind of silly though because from what I can tell, the movie looks like it's going to OPEN with him wearing it. Just seems strange to me. It looks cool from what I've seen of it.

Do not get the complaint by dude upthread complaining about lack of feats of strength. He's depowered. They showed in the comic con trailer he was so de-godified and unworthy that he couldn't even lift mjolner(sp).

As for how old he is at least gives an indirect which spans centries if not millinium. He tells Jane, and I paraphrase here, "Your ancestors called it magic, you call it science. Where I am from it is both."

Ok, so magic? We can at least go back to what Merlin and Dark Ages at minimum. But yeah probably even further back.

I'd have to give this a little more thought but ... The shot of Thor slamming his hammer down and the wave of force that follows might be the biggest feat/show of strength we've seen in a Marvel movie. I obviously haven't seen it play out, but that looked pretty impressive.

I really wish the trailer opened with the end credit scene of Coulson from IM2. That would have given the audience a real connection to the Iron Man films, and part of the MCU.

Other than that, I think it looks awesome, and there's a real epic feel to the film. I think Portman, especially with her Black Swan role is finally being seen for a top notch actress, and despite Hemsworth being the new guy on the block, I think that Portman and Hopkins will be a big draw.

I saw the trailer before, but seeing Hemsworth hurl Mjolnir on the big screen, it just looks huge!

I cannot wait to see, Hulk and Thor go toe to toe, in the Avengers film!

True, but I think what that guy meant by feats of strength is Thor lifting extremely heavy objects or destroying things with his bare hands.

Even though I loved when Thor slammed the ground with Mjolnir, I still hope they show Thor throwing a vehicle or something even heavier (preferably against The Destroyer).

That's if it doesn't turn it into a lame "Avengers Vs. Hulk" fight by having The Avengers help Thor (smh). If it's not mainly a "Thor Vs. Hulk" fight then I'd prefer them to leave it out.

They could easily have a Thor go into "warrior's madness" while fighting an enraged Hulk. Then that would make The Avengers have to stop them both from causing mass destruction.

At least half the Avengers film should just be Thor and Hulk throwing down and destroying everything for miles.

Not serious.

But kind of.

I still say the best way to SHow just how strong Thor is is to have him pretty much go head to head with the Hulk.

I'd like to see Thor take a direct hit from the Hulk and shake it off with relative ease... at first people would kringe and wince.....then they would cheer emphaticly.

We have already seen Blonsky KO'd as a human basicly broke every bone in his body from a Hulk Strike.....

Seeing Thor take one on the Button and bounce back..... well that would give even the Hulk Pause..... like a....did that just happne kinda look?

But Ultimatly the HUlks Anger would start to turn the tide.

I think people will still make the connection with Coulson. And honestly, I think the only people who stayed until after the credits for Iron Man 2 were the type of people who already knew he was going to be in the Thor film (i.e. US).

The way I'd like to see it go down: They call in Thor as a last resort to reign in the Hulk. Thor finds him just before he tries to wreck parts of NY. Thor has the initial edge, using Warrior's Madness to gain the upper hand, only to have Hulk come back and land some good blows. After Hulk buries Thor under the rubble of a building, he escapes. The rest of the Avengers show up. Thor crawls out from under a section of concrete, his suit scratched and torn and says in a deadpan voice, "He is formidable."

First off I think the Green Lantern trailer is pretty good, and I don't get this complaint that it's not epic looking, did you see the scene where they're on that planet out in space, that scene is awesome!

In the Thor movie, what I'm looking forward to the most is the epic battle between Thor and the Destroyer, Thor fighting Loki doesn't get me excited as much.

In the Avengers movie, however it plays out, Thor should end up defeating the Hulk because no matter what the gamma rays did to Bruce Banner, he is still only a regular human being, a man. So he can only get so mad, which means he can only get so strong, and no human being no matter how mad or strong he gets, can defeat a God!

BTW, this was my major complaint with the Hulk vs. Thor animated movie, there's absolutely no way Hulk could beat Thor so easily! The female warrior in the Planet Hulk animated movie gave Hulk a better fight than Thor did?

I couldn't believe Marvel portrayed their own character Thor so wrong!

sorry I missed that part. when was that done

It'll never happen.

You're used to seeing this in the comic books, where Thor was only slightly smaller than the Hulk and where they were both considered equals in strength (see the classic Defenders #10, for example). Do you really think a slender movie-Thor is going to be the equal in physical strength of a nine-foot tall CGI monster Hulk?

In the Avengers film, Thor may get away with throwing his mjolnir into the Hulk's face and knocking him off his feet or something, but if the Hulk ever manages to separate Thor from his hammer on the big screen, do you really think Thor is going to be able to take the Hulk down, from what you've seen of both of them so far? Thor will have to watch his back just to make sure he doesn't get stepped on by the Hulk.

Tricon....We have seen Blonsky dip and dodge the Hulk already.

It showed you what an ordinary man looks like next to the beast in Battle. Hemsworth looks to be about twice the size of Roth.

Thor... is going to go head to head with the Destroyer, a monster every bit the equal of the Hulk in terms of size....

We shall already have the idea in our heads that Thor is a match for those much bigger then he is. ANd really will it be all that different then what we have already seen in Iron Man 1...

ask yourself these questions.

In essence, in live action media, watching a normal sized person take on the Hulk does look kind of funny. Video games, cartoons and comics tend to not make it look as odd. But if Whedon can do it, hook it up.

Thor WILL use super strength in this movie. In order to even fight the Destroyer, he will have to display it. And BTW the part in the trailer where he slams Mjolnir down IS a feat of strength. If it was just the hammer, he wouldn't need to slam it. The other thing is that I dont think there will be gratuitus feats of strength...unnecessary ones. Everyone considers the Hulk from his movie strong, but he only threw an engine block....those are just my 2 cents.
