It was always going to be the movie of 2011 for me. But I'm really itching to see Cap's trailer as well. I hope it's also good.

The main worry I have for this movie is: Will Loki be mischievous enough? We haven't got to see a lot of him thus far. So I'm just pondering it :)

I'm thinking they might keep that a surprise for the movie's actual release. We all know Loki's gonna wind up being the real villain, but the general audience only sees a concerned brother so far.

Let me give you my perspective on this whole situation. I imagine it that Marvel is like a parent who just bought their kid what they think is the coolest gift ever. As they watch with incredible anticipation, the kid gets the gift and starts complaining about it - questioning the use of wrapping paper, the weight of the box, the smell of the glue. By the time the kid gets to the gift it could be a magic genie granting unlimited wishes, but he's so busy being critical, he misses the greatness of it entirely.

haha

I thought your analogy was humorous, but I never make up my mind about a movie before I see it. No matter what I may think now, if the Thor movie turns out awesome, then i'll love it and relish the opportunity to chastise myself for being of little faith.

But I can't help it that i'm not fond of the trailer. I'm not going to rave about how great it is just to fit in. If the trailer was cut differently, maybe i'd be the one telling you to chill and enjoy the experience.

Thor is a gift. I've personally been waiting for this for many years, and what I've seen is great. Of course I would like more - a larger, tougher Thor... flying, etc. But I'm grateful for the gift and confident that Kenneth Branagh will give us something that works for the majority of the masses.

Thats pretty much how I felt about Wolverine: Origins going in. And that movie turned out to suck. Just because a studio makes a film about your favorite character doesn't mean its going to be good, or worth it. Its not a "gift" until its unwrapped and actually presents itself as one.

Are you entitled to your opinion? Absolutely. If you don't like something, fine. I'm just interested in giving a more positive opinion that will hopefully be contagious around here. Sometimes, being nit-picky is just plain childish and moreso, stupid. (Not an attack on you.)

Thats fine, but being positive or negative is besides the point. We're supposed to have opinions on the trailer. And they're not supposed to all be the same. If we were listening to a Beatles song and you said you didn't like the beat and the chorus, I wouldn't tell you to stop being "nit-picky" and to just shut up and enjoy it b/c its the Beatles. And if I did, chances are you'd probably think I was being a prick.

Now, there are things I liked from the trailer. Loki for one. The Destroyer's sequence was pretty sick. I'm giving the movie a chance, thats why i'm seeing it. And if it turns out great, no one will be happier, believe me.

I not too concerned about Loki being portrayed as mischievous enough. From what we already know (assume), it sounds like Loki sends the Destroyer after Thor and at some point possibly rules over Asgard. I'm sure there are twists and turns (deception) that bring those events to be.

loki kinda stepping in when odin banishes thor is very mischievous to me. i know he probably set up whatever caused thor to become banished in the first place. just seems like loki was pretending to be concerned. so you see right now he is fooling everyone who doesn't know his true nature.

That's the exact impression I got. Very Iago-ish.

I thought it was common knowledge that that was what Bragnah was going for with Loki all along?

He mentioned Cassius from Julius Caesar as well. More in the vein of Hiddleston's casting, though. He liked that Hiddleston is a very lanky guy, inviting the comparison of Thor's Loki to the infamous image of Shakespeare's Cassius as having a "lean and hungry look."

I think the trailer looks fantastic, which is the what the "majority" of you have said as well. If the general audience's overall reaction to the trailer is nearly as good as this then "Thor" will be a box office hit.

The tone of the film seems perfect so far & it looks like "Thor" will deliver some great action scenes also. I wonder what "powers" will Loki display and I if they are going to portray The Warrior's Three's superhuman attributes (ie. super strength, reflexes, bulletproof etc.)

Loki being a surprise villain would be sort of funny, well atleast for me. It's so ingrained in my head that Loki is a bastard that people being shocked by that is funny. :oldrazz:

i don't think loki as the villain will be a surprise, they do show him fighting thor in the trailer.

Well, it might be hard to tell if you're unfamiliar with the material that the brother was also the guy with the horns.

i don't really agree, he is wearing the same green armor, just has on his helmet. although now that you mention it i noticed they took out the stuff from the old trailer that shows loki putting on his helmet. all they kept was him getting the spear. i wonder if they are trying to be sly. they show heimdall briefly but you see he has horns, and he looks menacing. i wonder if their intent is to mislead the GA into thinking that heimdall is the villain. all you see is a guy with horns fighting thor very short edits.

Speaking of Heimdall I would like to see him fight with his fiery sword sometime during the movie, because he looks BA. I'm a black guy and even I was suprised when I first heard Idris Elba was playing Heimdall. I was like "huh?" at first, but the more I watch the trailers the more I felt like "WOW"!!!

im not gonna lie, i got pretty hyped up when i saw Elba was gonna be Heimdall. he,s one of my favorite actors right about now. cant say i really questioned the decision. especially knowing Branaghs casting history. oh yeah im black too. lol

There are people on the Hype that acted as if it was the end of the world when Elba got cast. A bunch of whiners, if you ask me. Changing a supporting character's skin color shouldn't be an issue. Spider-man? Definitely a problem. Changing Betty Brant or Flash Thompson's race? Who cares!

I'm surprised people would of complained about Elba in the first place. He looks like a awesome Heimdall!

What was he in the comics if he wasn't black? To me when I watched the trailer all I saw was this epic lookng dude w/ gold armer and freaky eyes. no clue who this guy is but i'm loking forward to his part almost as much as thor and loki just cuz of how BA he looks. lol.
