Tim Burton's Batman 3 (2015)

yeah me either, why did he hate it? and why did he even do it if he hated it? burton doesnt do any project unless his heart is into it (B89 being the exception), so thats weird to hear. i know that the movie didnt do well, but i didnt know he hated doing it.

as for batman 3, it wasnt exactly that the executives totally dissed burton and said No we dont want you back, they just kinda subtely were like, dont you want to do something else after this big project? and burton kinda took the hint and was like, oh you dont want me back? oh i see. so that was the end of batman 3, sadly. not that batman forever was superbad, i reather enjoyed it, but cmon, i would have gladly taken burtons 3rd film.

Dude thats total BS, Burton has done some films he didnt want to do on his own account but the studio pushed him into it, you being such a Burton fan should know such things. He put NO heart and soul into POTA dude read up on your facts.

Its a FACT Burton never wants anything to do with Batman again. Creatively it would be going backwards for him, and bad for his career.

Wasnt he planning to make a Batman Musical for the stage or something back in 2002? I remember reading that here.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to that Spider-Man musical that the Bono and Edge were planning from a couple of years back?

I think theyre still moving on with that from what ive heard.

Yeah right, bottom line, after finding out WB wanted a lighter more kind friendly BF, Burton bailed.

Actually, that would apply to Keaton.

Burton was asked from the WB suits to step down from the director's seat.

I dunno, any source on this? The way I always took it was that WB wanted it lighter and he bailed. Which I guess is a sort of pressure.

I seem to remember Tim saying point blank in the making of docs of BATMAN RETURNS that he was asked - or rather told - not to come back after BR.

Precisely. There, or on the BR commentary. But Keaton did bail after he had a talk with Schumacher.

Oh right, awsome, I'll check that out.

But I agree, Keaton talked to Joel. Then he bailed. I can't think why...

Keaton wasnt even sure if he wanted to do BR, he had to talk to Tim alot about it before doing it. My main problem with the SE's of 89 and BR is the footage of Keaton talking is from when those films were made, WB didnt have him come in to do commentary or anything, it kinda ruined it for me. Must be WB and Keaton left on bad terms.

the only way it wouldwork would be if it was done in animation

VOICES:

MICHAEL KEATON-batman

Michael Gough-Alfred (he's dead now but they could recreate his voice digitally)

Pat Hingle-Commissioner Gordon

they could find people to play

Harvey Bullock, Selina Kyle, Montoya, Robin, etc.

Michael gough is not dead. He's 94, sure, but not dead yet.

That'd be cool, i'd definitely buy it/go see it.

Not only is Michael Gough not dead yet, he also did voice work for the Corpse Bride so he'd probably still be up for voicing Alfred as long as he's still in his right mind.

I just saw him The Boys From Brazil, I was like 'Go Michael' then a German Nazi killed him. Bad times.

I would LOVE for Burton/Keaton/Elfman to do a direct sequel to Returns.

It's nice to think about but will obviously never happen.

Even if DC offered them a chance to do an animated DTV film, they'd probably pass on it. They've moved on.

Has Tim Burton/Michael Keaton/Danny Elfman ever discussed maybe doing a sequel to his Batman Returns one day? If so, can someone direct me to where I may find his comments and/or discussion?

Thanks

The chances of a sequel to Returns is more or less... well, it just won't happen. Burton has done what he wanted with the character, Keaton most likely won't do it if Burton isn't involved, and Elfman (from what I've read), doesn't like to dwell on things from the past, and probably wouldn't do it either. Of course, Keaton and Elfman probably would return if Burton announces a sequel, but that just won't happen. They've had their fun, now it's over. The end.

Everyone is saying that this project is impossible.....

But the forum members on here are forgetting one important element that would determine a sequel to Batman Returns.

BATMAN FOREVER
by Tim Burton

Centered around a young Richard Grayson (9 years old) who must come to terms with his abrupt isolation against the tragedy of his parent's murders and his subsequent foster home in a dark, heartless (gothic) castle of Stately Wayne Manor (that overlooks graveyards). Half the film is through Robin's POV - how his bright and colourful world of the circus dissolves into bluish black and white nightmare. It's not a wintry Christmas, but a dismal storm in Gotham City. With a Riddler with a pet rat on the lose (responsible for his parent's deaths to get to Bruce Wayne?) And a certain district attorney who loses his single-mindedness. The Dark Knight is aided by child-psychologist Chase Meridian (Renee Russo) to help his young ward/adopted son, but there is a crisis in hand and the film goes into darker territory with a look into insanity. A film about loss, loneliness, madness, paranoia, nightmares, retribution, hate and ultimately, of learning to let go of the past.

I know this probably won't happen, and with Nolan's arrival it'd be stupid. But what if Tim Burton came back with new actors (and a white Robin)... and no Two-Face... and made the 3rd Batman film he planned before Schumacher took over?

Have it based on the events after Batman Returns and even have Danny Elfman come back with the famous score? Try to reboot that series to then do a 4, 5 and 6... or at least finish the trilogy and just make a 3 and then let Nolan continue with his seperate series...

It would be nice for some continuity. Officially separate Schumacher's films from Burton's...

On a side note... I bet you some main-stream, ignorant people out there are thinking, for some reason, that out of all the Batman films that they're ALL part of the same series and the timeline is something like this...

Batman Begins
Batman (1989)
Batman Returns
Batman Forever
The Dark Knight
Batman & Robin

And some nerd (who doesn't know too much about the comics or films) has put together a big timeline like this:

Bruce Wayne has become Batman and must fight Ra's Al Ghul (Liam Neeson) and Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) and because of escalation must then fight Joker (Jack Nicholson) and once that's over he must deal with Penguin (Danny DeVito) and Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer). Then he is faced with Two-Face (Tommy Lee Jones) and Riddler (Jim Carry) with the help of Robin (whatever his name is :oldrazz: ) and then faces a recurring problem when Joker (Heath Ledger) is discovered to be alive and still at large (and this time worst than ever!) as well as Scarecrow (Cillian Murphy) who has rose in the ranks again... and Robin has gone on vacation and cannot help! After this problem is over he then goes on to fight (with Robin) Freeze (Arnold Swartzenegger), Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) and Bane ( ? )...

I can just about bet you there's some poor soul who's done that...

anyway... I think sometime in the future after Nolan's third Batman film, Burton should possibly come back and finish what was started with a 3rd Burton Batman film... then continue Nolan's films (and make it known that they ARE seperate "universes".

just a thought... I know it won't happen... just something to keep this nerd thinking... :oldrazz:

You completely forgot that Two-Face became Two-Face in The Dark Knight.. your time line doesnt make sense

Burton's take is dead and thank god for that. Nobody under 22 remembers them.
