IESB.net has learned, via an interview with director Peter Segal, that the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and "Corpse Bride" team of Tim Burton, John August and Johnny Depp are reuniting for Dark Shadows.

Burton will reportedly direct the Warner Bros. feature based on the '60s supernatural TV show from a script by August. Johnny Depp's Infinitum-Nihil and GK Films are producing and Depp has had interest in playing Barnabas Collins, the vampire patriarch of the series, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Over 1,225 episodes, "Dark Shadows" was a highly atmospheric, spooky soap that featured gothic horror staples like vampires, monsters, witches, werewolves, ghosts and zombies.

Anyways, can definitely see Johnny Depp as Barnabas. I hope Burton doesn't screw this up because I'd love to see a good movie based from this series. Helena Bonham Carter would make an excellent Angelique Bouchard.

I've never seen Dark Shadows before. I've read about it, and have seen many pictures, but have never seen the show. And the season boxsets...where to begin?

But i've always wanted to see this concept put on screen: Tim Burton making a movie with a vampire as one of the main leads. And Johnny Depp as a vampire? Even better. Always wondered how he'd play the part. I'll definately check it out.

I love Tim Burton but hes becoming really predictable with his movie choices. You just know exactly what hes going to do and honestly I have little to no excitement. I wish he could do more 'big fish' and 'edward scissorhands' stuff. You can keep you style and flare but God, do you mind spicing it up a bit?

Alice is supporsed to be motion capture, so I doubt it'll be delayed. More than likely he'll just do both at the same time.

Yea, I think you're right. It's a combination. But the article says nothing about a release date...so...we'll see.

Ick... well, hopefully it's not put off indefinitely. I'd hate for that to become another "Lincoln" (I've been waiting for that movie for years now).

It just said Depp was interested, not that he was cast. Most likely he will be though.


Add in Michael Keaton and Helena Bonham Carter and it will be too awesome for words.
