Tired of Stan Lee

For me, it's the Screen version of all the little "Stupendous Stan" type quips from the comics.

Given all the news recently about Stan's health and well being, there's no point in stopping the cameos. The guy is 95, let them film as many as he is able to before he's gone.

I love the Marvel movies and collect all of them but am I the only one that is tired of seeing him as cameos in every damn movie
Yes.

cause how come no others for Marvel get to be cameos?
Since you are a collector and have all of the MCU movies, go and check -
THOR (2011)
Walter Simonson (artist of Thor comics)
J. Michael Straczynski (writer of Thor comics)

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014)
Ed Brubaker (writer of the WINTER SOLDIER comic this is based on)

Stan was a writer in comics and Bill Finger created everything we love about Spider-Man from suit to names, etc.
Bill Finger was the co-creator of BATMAN. Steve Ditko was the co-creator of SPIDER-MAN.
You don't see DC people doing that
That's their loss.

I think it was okay at first but the cameos should and need to stop,
I think that not only should they continue while he is alive....his image should show up in one way or another after his passing.

the movies are great enough without him being in a quick scene.
They make the movies that much greater though. People look forward to a Stan cameo just as people used to look forward to seeing Alfred Hitchcock in his movies.

Let's see more Easter eggs or cameos by other characters instead.
Not instead....see more Easter eggs and cameos ALSO.

I'm going to try to get deep here. Stan Lee cameos do three important things:

1) They acknowledge that these are fictions by taking time to pay homage to the surviving real life architect of so many Marvel characters. It touches the film with reality from the outside to give the audience permission to have fun with stuff that should be deadly serious and morose. The same reason we don't like it "taking us out of the movie" is part of the reason why the movies work as stories about nice people killing hundreds of other people and having a grand time doing it without us needing to feel guilty about having a good time too.

2) It allows these films which are king of the mountain to be humble and say they are not the greatest thing of all time by paying homage to the originals as represented by Stan Lee, just as other lesser Marvel franchises have. The MCU can't be an arrogant brand because it takes a moment out of its story to acknowledge Stan. Every. Single. Time. (even on characters he has nothing to do with).

3) It bulletproofs the films against accusations of changing the characters too much as the creator, or associated creator tacitly approves of all changes by appearing in the film. It godfathers in each film for comics fans, and invites all sorts of metanarrative shenanigans in a purely positive light.

Now, none of these require Stan specifically, but none can be accomplished as easily as having The Stan Lee show up for 3.7 seconds.

Plus Stan, to me, looks and acts like EVERYBODY's fun old uncle.

Someone remove this foolish mortal.

True. He is very up their in age.. So maybe he won't last another 4 years or so the MCU has left in its film arsenal..

He's already filmed a bunch more; they probably even did some generic ones that could go into any film.

I love the cameos and look forward to them in each film.

Everything people love about Batman was really created by Walter B. Gibson and other pulp writers and artists.

I don't know what's funnier; the OTT complaint about Stan's fleeting cameos in 2+ hour movies, or the assertion that Bill Finger created everything we love about Spider-Man.

I know, I just can’t take it seriously.

Both were instant facepalm statements. Don't think there's a way to know which one was the bigger goof.

Anyone know, if you added up ALL His cameos, how long it would actually come to?? Iirc the longest one he had was in Thor 1. His shortest i felt was in FF4 rise of silver surfer.

Using a stopwatch on the "Every Stan Lee Cameo Ever" YouTube video, if you only count live-action movies, I came up with just under three minutes, and that includes all of the Spider-Man, X-Men, and FF films.

First of all, Stan created and co-created the vast majority of the most well-known characters of the Marvel universe. Perhaps even more importantly, it's his concept of superheroes - 'superheroes with super problems' - that changed the industry, and set the template for all superhero stories ever since. Simply put, you can draw a line from Peter Parker to Watchmen to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If superheroes were still stuck in the two-dimensional model of Superman and Wonder Woman circa 1950, they'd never have lasted.

Secondly, Stan the Man has appeared in numerous cameos throughout the history of the comics - going as far back as the 60s. You know when he tries to get into Reed and Sue's wedding in Rise of the Silver Surfer? That's not only a cameo, not only a meta-joke (as he explains he's Stan Lee), but a meta-meta joke because it did actually happen in the comics forty years beforehand. And for an extra level of irony, it was Stan himself who wrote that comic.

The Stan cameos aren't just a way of acknowledging the man. They just something fun and amusing that Marvel has always done, it's part of what gives Marvel it's character and style, and part of what differentiated Marvel from DC in the 60s.

Anyway, he's onscreen for about five seconds in each movie.

Love his cameos personally and hope we keep getting them for as long as possible.

Yes.

The day is fast approaching when the OP's problem with this will no longer be an issue. Enjoy Stan while he lasts, I say. Aside from Walt Disney himself I can't think of a single person in the pop culture arena who's had more impact on people of this day and age.

Well. I can't get enough of Stan Lee in Marvel movies and I love cameos of other artists and writers too.
