Mirage Studios' Steve Murphy has posted a message on his Blog saying that a TMNT sequel is looking more and more likely:

As of two weeks ago Imagi Entertainment (the TMNT movie animation studio) informed Mirage Studios that there was a 50-50 chance of a CGI film sequel. Last week they upped the odds to 70-30 in favor of a sequel, as talks between Imagi and their distribution partners Warner Brothers and the Weinstein Group seem to be heading in a positive direction...

The numbers are in Mirage Studios' favor, as the first film raked in $92.2 million worldwide ($54M domestic, $38.1M overseas), yet cost only $34 million to make.

I just read that on SHH and I must say it is good news. While TMNT (or Ninja Turtles IV, depending on how you look at it) didn't break any records, it was a moderate hit domestically and even when one factors in cost of promotion and merch to the $34 million pricetag, Mirage & WB likely still almost doubled that in worldwide take. TMNT left things open ended for a sequal involving Karai & the Foot, perhaps a feature length version of CITY AT WAR, which would make a stronger film.

Bring on more, I say. Very good news.

great news! i would love to see a full revitalization of the franchise

TMNT had the makings of something great however it didn't rise above mediocrity... I'm glad to see there getting another go at it

Firstly, they need to remember not to plot it like a video game. The damned monster/stone immortals plot seemed to be clogging what could have been a better film. Hopefully, let's see more of that.

That's great news.

Now with the sequel becoming increasingly more likely, the chances of Peter Laird and company taking notes on what worked, and what did not work with the 2007 TMNT film, as well as what they can do to improve upon their previous effort is no doubt, and rightfully so, imminent. Which is definately very exciting from a TMNT fan's perspective.

Again, fantastic news!

We'll see. I've heard this before. I'm still wondering where that Hitchhiker's Guide sequel we were supposed to get is.

Hmm....

It's quite possible the expectations with gross returns were a bit more higher with that particular film.

Can we demand that we see RAT KING as the big baddie.

If we can have another sequel then we need a foe that we know not like Winters.

Rat King or maybe Krang coming to Earth would be cool as its CGI Krang could be workable.

:word:

True... I have to say though the Leonardo/Ralph fight was worth the price of admission, however there was a lot of crap... like WTF is April doing crime-fighting, was that something later in the comics? Because I've read the first trade and seen both cartoons/movies... Where is that from, that was a terrible idea :cmad:

Hell yeah! Bring it on! I loved TMNT's turtle parts.

niiiiiiiiiiice! im a child of the 80's who did see the cgi movie in theatres... and while it was a silly plot, when it comes to the villain storyline, I loved the turtles stuff, particularly with leonardo and raph.

plus there was some great action in it... nothing as sweet as the incredible, but close enough to make me say i want another one.

hope this happens.

At Comicon we talked to a high up person and he could not say officially...OFFICIALLY...but it was sounding very positive.
(sorry cant say who it was)

April is a fighter now in the comics.

Who is RALPH?

It seems you didn't watch the cartoons very well, and I can see you didn't read the comic. In the new cartoon she has Leo teach her some moves so she can help when needed, and in the comic now. She trained herself.

That's lame as a **** then... I've read the first trade as well as watch season 1, and bits and pieces of later stuff of the new toon... It's a stupid, stupid idea.... Some ****in scientist can actually keep up with ****in ninja turtles, it completely tones down how cool the turtles actually are

Yeah, but in TMNT, it's not only post-Buffy, she's played by Buffy.

i liked the idea of april being more of a fighter, anyway im excited for a sequel , but i reall yhope they dont go the way of krang

Yeah I think I remember seeing that espiode in the TMNT 2003 cartoon where Leo teaches april some moves. Leo is still better fighter than her however since he's has more experince at it.

Well she can keep up with the TMNT. In the comics she just found out that shes a drawing.

Its all here buddy.

Despite this, April remained sterile. Later Rennet would appear and take April back to her past to discover the truth behind her origins. It was revealed, at the time, that April's parents couldn't have children, and April actually turned out to be a drawing made by the same crystal Kirby used in Donatello # 1 to bring drawings to life. But due to April being drawn in ink, not pencil like Kirby's drawings, it might explain why she hasn't disappeared yet. This news came to a crushing blow to April, finding out she wasn't real led her to leave the city to deal with this new revelation. Since Volume 4 is on hiatus, it's unknown if she'll tell the turtles, Casey or Shadow about this
