Superman Returns We don't like how this movie is looking (merged)

A very small possibility.

Why? It happened to Hammer movies. It happened to slasher movies. It happened to action movies. It happens to everything sooner or later.

Or filling in the San Andreas Fault, or catching a missle like in the original film.
Putting back the Great Wall with his lazer vision in S:IV

Nivek said:
Actually, from reading the novel
you dont actually see him lifting New Krypton, Lex notices it crumbling before he see Supes lifting it out. 40 seconds of grunting... sheesh...

That works as a literary device. Showing it from Lex's perspective on film would be entirely different.

Hey, were trying to bring up good aspects of Superman FX here, bud! Dont be bringing up the budget-crippled Quest for Peace FX!

Frozen Lake?
NK is a continent!
:)

According with that interpretation we can compare the Spiderman 2002 action sequences with that

Or it can be exactly the same.

Because it has been so long since Superman has been on the big screen...and with the popularity of SV and today's technology,Singer directing, Spacey as Lex...I don't see SR having any problems making $$$....I could be wrong...I have been once or twice before ;) :D

guarunteed way to kill a thread...say Poseidon is a good movie ;)

Well,X-3 was full of action, pretty much non-stop,and it dropped 66% in the box office 2nd weekend. You have to have a good story to,or people will not be interested.EDIT:I agree about poseidon.

No, but it has become some character driven drama with only two major action scenes, both of which are simply Superman lifting heavy things.

Combine that with the World Cup starting soon. X-Mens pretty much dead Box Office Wise

Here's the problem I see with the movie. The Donner films were based on Silver Age Superman. The character has changed so much durring that time. Superman isn't the goodie two shoes, he was in the 1950's anymore.

I really wish there were more modern age Superman in this film. After reading the novelization, it looks like the same old thing.

I'm sure I'll probably enjoy this movie for what it is, but as far as breaking new ground as say Batman Begins did, this film isn't going to be it.

There are to many similarities between SR and STM. We already have STM why is Singer recreating it? If anything it should be a sequel, but it's not even that, it's a flim that's an omage to STM! I feel Singer wants to bow to his mentor Donner, he probably feels unworthy to follow in his footsteps, so he must bow the great one and in doing so he's doing an omage to his work. This film is showing it's lacking originality and creativity, rehashing isn't being creative.

Bringing in Superman feeling like an orphan isn't what Superman went through, it's what Singer went through. I just don't agree with Singer about Superman leaving to find other Kryptonians, that's a very human thing to do, and Superman isn't human. I never thought Superman needed to find others from his homeworld, I thought he was always at ease with being who he is, and how he is?

Superman the Movie
Lex Luthor Uses a rocket to create a new California coast.
Lex Luthor steals Kryptonite from Adis Ababa.
Superman and Lois have a flying scene together.
Superman and Lois have almost kiss eachother at the end of the movie.
Lex's girlfriend betrays Lex.
Lex Luthor throws Superman into water with a Kryptonite necklice.
Lex's girlfriend takes the Kryptonite necklace off of Superman.

Superman Returns
Lex Luthor use a rocket to create New Krypton
Lex Luthor breaks into a museum to steal Kryptonite.
Superman and Lois have a flying scene together.
Superman and Lois have almost kiss eachother.
Lex's girlfriend betrays Lex.
Lex Luthor throws Superman into water with a Kryptonite knife in his back.
Lois takes the knife out of Superman's back.

I am extremely excited for Superman Returns, but I am also EXTREMELY dissapointed we weren't getting a new, relevant, and updated re-boot to the franchise ala Batman Begins. I think it would have worked out better for WB financially as well, in terms for future success. To have a clean slate, with two great template movies for their 2 HEAVY HITTING franchises. I just think at times that, the vague history, too many story similarities etc. is all alittle too damn confusing for us following, let alone regular audience members. If I was in charge of WB's franchise, I definetely would've went in the direction of a great modern age / timeless Superman origin, that isn't uber cheesy and campy...and kept him a light and powerful superhero, but played it straight so modern audiences could get into the character.

Actually it's six rockets and the rapid growth of New krypton, not a coast line or an island but an entire continent threatens to destroy the ecology of the planet, causing billions of deaths and terraforming the entire planet.
Lex Luthor steals Kryptonite from Adis Ababa.
Actually he steals it from a museam in Metropolis
Superman and Lois have a flying scene together.
Superman and Lois have almost kiss eachother.
They don't kiss becuase Lois doesn't want to cheat on her fiance, Superman flies off crushed by the fact that he can't have her.
Lex's girlfriend betrays Lex.
Actually she doesn't betray him she does turn on him by throwing away the crystal.
Lex Luthor throws Superman into water with a Kryptonite knife in his back.
Lois takes the knife out of Superman's back.
Yeah after his goons kick the crap out of him.
Trust me when i say you have no idea where the rest of the story goes.

The difference is they felt that after two ****e Bat movies the franchise needed a reboot.STM is considered the best superhero movie of all time, is in constant rotation. Everybody and their mother has already seen it. The origin has already been covered on Smallville. Why not continue the story?

This cracks me up. I know it was posted a long time ago, but damd this guy could not have been any more wrong in hindsight.

And Mods, I did not bring this old thread back up again. Someone else did yesterday and today (the two posts before my post here). I just wondered why it was brought back up and saw this and had to post a reply.
