I'm a Lois Lane fan, I just want to see her developed properly, but I'm in no way expecting her to be the focus of the story. And I'll definitely wouldn't be judging the female roles in the movie by that strange test.

I was actually expecting her to have a very minor role, and then all those tv spots have shown her in a lot of different situations.

She probably has a point honestly. Comic book movies are growing a particular nack for underwriting their female roles, and it is getting pretty old. Chris Nolan and Goyer in particular have been criticized for this impulse, and it's something they need to work on. But although I sincerely hope Lois is written well and not just utilized as a paper thin plot device... I understand the difficulty, and it won't ruin the movie for me. It's only one part of a much larger criteria I will use to judge the overall film.

I understand where she's coming from, but then again, most comic book movies, hell even comic books in general, are guilty of this. I hate to think that she's just singling out MoS, and not 'Thor' or 'Captain America'.

Plus you got Faora who seems to be a great adversary. I don't know.

I'm all for more diversely and better film roles for women, but I'm also sensible enough not to make it a witchhunt.

Yeah, how accurate is this test?

Yeah, how accurate is this test?

It shows how well women are portrayed in a film based on three questions.

1. It has to have at least two [named] women in it
2.
Who talk to each other
3. About something besides a man
I can understand what it's trying to achieve and there's logic behind it, but what could Martha/Faora and Lois/Faora possibly talk about other than Superman?!
the weather?

Is this a good reason to call it "a terrible film"?

She most certainly did delete her tweets......

WB's prolly all like:

The "he's so hot" soldier from the commercial doesn't help things. I picked up on that instantly. And frankly, that moment in particular, women and female soldiers have every right to feel pissed about that portrayal.

Ok, and if it was a WW or Supergirl film there wouldn't be some one liners about how good looking she is from soldiers or male characters in general?

What about Captain America? There were many of parts in military form that didn't come off as too charming themselves!

Why? Males always say things like that about women in film and no man complains about how that is "sexist".
Equality works both ways. :D

Actually doesn't Thor pass that dumb test? Jane and her female helper were talking about something other than a male before Thor arrived. But I can think of very few movies in general that pass that test, not just comic book movies. And movies that do pass the test are not necessarily good either.

While I see what you're getting at, but many movies are guilty of this. And if nothing happens, then the movie is sexless (Inception). Even with the female military official, I think it was just a harmless moment. It's not to the point where it's completely tasteless or demeaning. Was it a stupid joke? That's subjective... But not sexist.

To what end, I say. To what end.

It's like people who didn't like STID because of the underwear scene. :whatever:

I that moment in STID was pointless and stupid, but not sexist. It makes Kirk look like a perv, but that was already established. Plus Kirk has been shirtless many a-times in these movies.

I think everyone has the right to 'roll their eyes' at that moment in Star Trek, but my LORD, the internet exploded as if it's pornographic.

Of course, that would be objectifying women. :whatever:

That moment in STID just shows the humor of Kirk being a horndog, which has been a part of his character since Shatner days :p

What I don't like is the hyperbolic/kneejerk 'witchhunt' behavior when this happens, on BOTH fronts. It seems like it's 'weak' to be sensible and reasonable, especially on the internet.

Yeah, the 60's show had so many moments like that, that I feel like people are romanticizing the old show too much. It was a groundbreaking show, but it wasn't perfect. It was just a product of its time too. The sexy 60's baby!

Thor was shirtless in his movie, Cap was shirtless in his movie, Tony was shirtless in his movie, Bruce was shirtless in his movie.
One underwear scene in STID from a WOMAN is sexist?
I think that scene was just there to highlight that Kirk is attracted to her or something.

October, the problem with her distaste for the film is there is NO critique involving the quality of cinematography, story arch for father and son, etc... It just seems very empty to ignore the focus of the film. It really comes across as someone that didn't want to like it, unless somehow Lois got powers transferred from Superman and saved the day.

You are right, women don't complain about shirtless men. When men are shirtless they show chest hair which looks kind of pubic in nature, and they have nipples. Even worse, nipples serve no purpose on a man so is just their for the visual. lol

"women should be able to talk about sex and sexuality"
five minutes later...
"omg that woman said 'I think he's kinda hot'! so sexist!"

"And frankly, that moment in particular, women and female soldiers have every right to feel pissed about that portrayal."

So you're telling me that this one character represents every female soldier in the whole ****ing world? Seriously? That's sexist.

You have a wonderful way to make a great point.. while I was meandering about it... thanks.. !!!

In today's overly PC world, we are living a lie almost constantly... no one dares to speak up about so many truths anymore...

which is odd, because we have heard that Lois plays a pivotal role in defeating the villain.
Having said that, if she saw the movie and disliked it for any reason at all, I can't argue with her bc I haven't seen it yet.

And to be fair, her superior DID ask her. :oldrazz:
