TNT's Animal Kingdom

It all comes back to Julia. Between this finale and Sauls I’m trying to figure out which is more devastating.

Wait that’s it….. The finale was great but the ending was very abrupt as hell but overall I’m satisfied but left wondering what’s next.
So I’m actually ok with that. Sad to see this show go but overall I’m good but not great with the ending. I will miss this show however and will remember it fondly.

Damn that was a bleak as hell finale, but its the sort of series finale that I could see coming a mile away because there was no way these guys were going to get away clean and live happy lives afterwards.

I'm not going to say that I could have predicted the deaths that we did get but at the same time I'm not all that surprised either considering how all those flashbacks were pretty much dropping hints from the beginning.

The stakes were high, and we definitely got a nice emotional payoff in the end, but I do think that the ending was a little too abrupt and even a bit rushed, but overall, I was satisfied with this ending.

This was a great show that will be sorely missed IMO.

J really shouldn’t have any love life he always goes psycho eventually. He’s a real homme fatale.

At least this show like Queen of the South got an ending, which is more than you can say for the state of streaming off cable these days. And it was pretty good! Mostly inevitable way to go. I complained about the flashbacks last season not mattering too much but Season 5’s mattered more too.

I liked it, a bit anticlimatic with that last scene but I did enjoy the whole finale. Left some story open, but doubt they do a spin off. San Diego needs some better cops though bros dropped quite a lot of them.

Knew he was going to use Penny and she was a dead girl walking. When he invited her over it was clear alibi. She had no choice, don't know why she thought he would just let her walk. J killing her showed he is no better than the rest of them even if he thought he was doing it for his mom. Penny had nothing to do with that situation. I did laugh at the thought of him just chilling in Thailand or whatever with the ladies every night not being happy no matter what.

So glad they didn't go the incest route, the dad is some random dude. We can all be creative I am guessing just some drug hook up. I do wish the flash backs were closer to that time since this ep did around a 5 year jump. Wish Julia made some actual friends in school even though Smurf was so controlling she could have found some other family to take her in.

Really good this episode, that scene with J in the water really makes you choose. Pope saved him because he still loves his sister killing him would be killing the last thing she had. He couldn't do it, but glad he died on his own terms in a way, he took out like 5 cops which was unreal but that is Pope.

The Dynamic Duo I am glad they were together the whole episode. Deran has always been my favorite so I am pleased he survived. Not sure how he plans on getting to Renn & Nick guess the diamonds will need to be moved but they have all that heat on them I can't imagine he could do it. Either way glad he survived and it was a great performance Weary makes you feel for him. Craig was a heart breaker took the bullet for Deran and he is the one with the family. He got Omar'ed from the Wire I was like damn but you can't fault the kid for protecting his dad.

Loved that final moment between Pope and J after
Pope pulled J out of the pool.

Probably the only time J’s been emotionally open with anyone in this God forsaken family and it’s when he’s brought them down for good.

Baz was J’s father I guess. It lines up especially with the “ that’s it” line.

Did anybody feel like the ending was kinda set up for a spin-off. If so it would’ve probably happened if WBD didn’t shutdown TNT’s scripted programming. I’m glad this is it though because not every show needs a spin-off even though I would’ve watched it lol. Glad this show got to end on its on terms before the merger.

That and Baz only getting 5k cut from 60k job. Makes it seem like so much went down between Smurf and Baz in the time jump. He did give Julia money the previous episode, which is something Smurf told him not to do. The flashbacks spent a bit too much time on one area I think they could have started a little later and covered the Julia/ Baz, Julia stealing, Andrew being controlled by Smurf, Julia kicked out, then the stuff between the 8 year jump. Would have liked to see Julia coming back the first time and being put in "Rehab".

Ehhh… sure there are a few loose ends, but I really don’t think there’s enough there to warrant a spin-off.

Despite current trends, not *everything* needs to be a franchise.

I agree.

J is just as messed up as the rest of the Cody family. Smurf messed up everyone in her family with her messed up mind games.

J. and Smurf were the worst of the bunch. While Andrew was born disabled and Pope could go violent at any moment it was always to protect the rest of the family. The other brothers would steal from anyone but J. was intentionally cruel.

J. didn't just kill or steal from the rest of the family. He chummed the ocean for sharks, cut an artery open and threw a woman out of the boat alive. He didn't just steal from his uncles, like Baz or Julia did from Smurf, but set them up to be jailed or killed with no doubt of who, their family, spiked the escape plans
