The Dark Knight To Bleach or Not to Bleach? That is the Question

The Joker picture is horrible, and once again proves that we are getting an angry, despressed Joker.

I actually agree with Harmonica to an extent from what i have seen i do think Ledger will be exciting but it will never be my joker. i also hate this "badass" word my joker isnt like that at all he is one part clown one part maniac and one part flambouyant gentelman he will tell jokes one minute will charm you with his words and intellect another and in another he will gun you down like a dog while laughing manically. Ledger seems more just the manical part of joker but the thought of him snarling and grunting for 90 minutes scares me silly and dont get me started on the scarring i will always see it as shocks for shocks sake.

Again it looks exciting but ill take Knightfall joker over it any day.

He wasn't graceful? His movements were incredible. The dance scene in particular was wonderful. The scene wouldn't be half as funny/messed up if Jack hadn't done such a good job.

hahaha, I'm sorry I just don't think that scene was good and I don't think any actor would be able to make that butchery look good. Maybe I like the new Joker over Jack's because I'd rather him be a "baddass" than a literal clown.

I have no idea what you just said.

Depressed? How are you getting that? Angry? Joker gets angry in the comics all the time. As well in B89 Jack's Joker gets angry in the bell tower. I don't get where you are getting this. That picture if you look, he is actually trying not to smile. Very Joker"ish" Joker does get angry a lot, and in some ways even in the famous TKJ there is frames where he does show possible sadness especially the famous frame "Why aren't you laughing?" scene.

Joker is not just a guy that smiles and laughs all the time. In the comics he is not always with a smile, or "happiness" on his face.

I prefer a refined Joker to a crude Crowker.

He's laughing his head off whilst driving a truck that looks like its been shot at.
He's not depressed. Perhaps he has a death wish, but that is not the same as depression.

Ninja, delete that.

Unless you want to be put on probation for four months.

Agreed.

Permawhite is what The Joker is, in a way; he is what a man becomes when he transcends humanity in a traumatic episode. The irreversibly damaged skin is a neat metaphor for the irreveribly damaged mind underneath.

A handsome young Australian actor in a policeman's uniform, albeit with a false scar on his cheek, doesn't have the same resonance. The fact that, elsewhere, he wears clownish face paint and a purple suit just seems unnecessary; it is as if the attempt to make the character more realistic has actually had the opposite effect.
That's my feeling. The permawhite is a physical equal to his mental state: completely inhuman, utterly illogical, and unchanging. I think it's one reason he can't be rehabilitated, why his mind is so far gone that it's impossible to bring back. Because, as long as that is there, he will remain the Joker.

It's the lock. That, in addition to his mental state, is what makes him a total monstrosity. And when his outer monstrousness can be removed, I think his insanity loses some of its impact.

Now, it's argued that the cut smile serves the same purpose as the permawhite, and it does. It's effective in the same way, but, to me, I don't think it's quite as. As I said above, peramwhite is so out there and unique, to the point where you would have a hard time believing it possible. It defies logic, as does the Joker.

Plus, it's not only representative of the complexion of a clown, but also that of a corpse. It's a contradiction, in that manner, as is the Joker.

Why do so many feel the need to insult Nicholson?

It's mere cut-and-thrust.

The only reason I keep saying that I think both the scars and the permawhite are equal to this "monstrousness" state is because I have seen albino people, or people with pigment problems. And yes they look very different, but to me no different that bikers I see at work with massive scars on their faces. I think of course my good friend it is subjective and we have of course discussed that before ;)

But see I love your posts nicky they are so civil. I truly enjoy conversing with you.

Not Nicholson they should insult. Why not try criticising the fool who thought it was a good idea to cover up his damn face with some stupid grin. The mouth holds the key to a variety of expressions! Actors act by expressing themselves!

You people sicken me.

And you sicken me because I wasted my time replying to you and yet you didn't do me the courtesy of saying anything in return.
Thanks, real polite.

His laugh is horrible, and I bet he won't laugh very much at all.

Arguing about this is beating a dead horse. All I have to say is, from what I've seen, I will likely enjoy the new portrayal of the Joker and love the movie. I don't want to let things that are apparently "unfaithful" to the original depiction of a character deter me from enjoying a talented directors unique take on Batman. As far as I am concerned movies are for entertainment's sake and they shouldn't warrant any type of stress.

Cough cough. Regwec do you think this was nice?

I suspect GoogleMe has returned to terrorize Gotham City.......errr I mean the Bat forums.

Quickly, Chief O'Hara, get me the Bat-Phone.
