Action-Adventure Tom Hardy to Star in Gareth Evans' Action Movie Havoc for Netflix

Can Gareth Evans just direct every action movie from now on? I’m sick of the fake-as-hell, cartoonish bull**** in the Fast & Furious movies and the absurd, way-too-slick sequences in the John Wick franchise. Evans knows how to make this kind of thing really feel brutal.

Evans mastered the ability of getting into the thick of the action without compromising the spacing and geography of the actors. I'm a huge fan of the steady, wide shots in the Wick type movies but gritty urgency is where Evans shines.

Sad to report this was mostly meh to me. My hype was all kinds of high going in. Trailer was better than the flick to me who knows, kinda bummed. All the ingredients were there to make this a hell of a flick. Not a fan of the camera movement during them action scenes at all, can’t really highlight most of them that way it just there. This don’t come close to any of the John Wick flicks fight wise or story wise, which sucks to say, Gareth is a master, but here he kinda missed for me. My own disappointment aside! This isn’t a bad movie by any means, but it could have been so much more.

Jessie Mei Li Is the stand out.

It's not as good as his Raid films and the shaky cam was a bit much at times but I really enjoyed it and thought Evans cooked here for the most part especially with the brutal, gritty action sequences.

This would have been great to see on the bigscreen in a packed theater especially with how awesome the sound design is at times during those shootouts.

7.5/10
