Tom Hiddleston is Loki

I've been reading the 4 issue "LOKI" miniseries lately and I gotta say that I hope they portray him right! I have faith in Hiddleston & Branagh, though!

Two days ago I have contacted Hiddleston publicist (very kindle person).

Tom is available for an interview about Thor but...only the next year. :(

Well, I imagine he's a bit busy actually filming the movie at this point. But I'm looking forward to the post-filming media frenzy going into next year.

yea should be interesting to see how things go within the next few months once filming winds down and getting into promotion stage for the film.

Does anyone know how long they'll be filming? I seem to recall reading somewhere that most movie shoots are about 2 or 3 months.

I think they wrap in late April. They film in LA in January and February and in Santa Fe in March and April.

No, it's actually a bit on the long side. Average filming for a blockbuster film like this is 3 months, give or take a few weeks

I never knew that, Chewy is my film guru now! I will go to him now for any and all questions film production related.

(you brought this on yourself fool! :awesome:)

While I'm in the Loki thread...

I hope they decide to give Loki jet black hair. Yes, like Spider-Man 3 but only to show the extreme cultural differences between Loki and the rest of the Asgardians.

It would be an extreme help as to his overall character development, for me at least.

They usually come back and do some more shoots during post-production too, don't they? To get those little extra bits they need to fit in around the special effects and such?

Yeah, generally to patch up sections that need shots to make them coherent or to reshoot scenes that didn't quite turn out how they wanted, and to add an extra scene or two

I so can not wait until then! I live in Santa Fe and I'm gonna make damn sure I work on this movie in some capacity!

yea its around 4 months like chewy stated. Which is an average length for production period of filming. Pre/post production is the times that could be very long or short counting on what type of film it is and other things.

bump for excitement.

i'm pretty excited cos tom looks and sounds the part, on paper he's amazing, but other than the youtube video i posted a few pages back, i havent seen much of him.

excited to learn more. since they're having loki play a part in other movies, other than the character being iconic in general, perhaps branagh really saw something in tom hiddleston?

color me excited.

Branagh worked with Hiddleston on the Wallander TV-movies. He tends to stick to the background in series 1, though. But if you can watch Wallander, I'd recommend it anyway. It's good stuff.

Wallander it's awesome.
Here in Italy, unfortunately, is been treated very badly. Transmitted few episodes and then cancelled.

An interview with Tom Hiddleston. He doesn't talk much about Loki, but in general the article is a good insight into him as an actor and as a person:

Here is the stuff relating to Loki:

He clearly enjoys the shapeshifting aspect of his profession – to excess, perhaps. While he was in the early rounds of auditioning for the Marvel comic adaptation, along with every other blond English-speaking actor in the world' it was suggested to him that, as he was being considered for the part of Thor, he might bulk up a bit.

Accordingly, he followed a strict exercise regime and ate nothing but chicken, as bodybuilders do. Chicken salad for every meal. And sometimes the odd egg.'

After six weeks of this, he received a phone call from the producers telling him they wanted him in the film, only playing the part of Loki, Thor's lean and hungry-looking brother. I guess it was a relief to go back to my natural body shape,' he says, admirably unfazed by the whole experience.

He's delighted to be playing Loki, anyway, the god of mischief (which is the one you want to be, isn't it?'). Anthony Hopkins is playing his father, Odin.

In a perfect Hopkins accent, Tom recounts a recent message, relayed via Branagh: Tell Tom I don't like fava beans, and I'm not a complete psycho…'. To cap it all off, Tom loved the Marvel Superpower Top Trumps card game as a child. 'If you went back and told the eight-year-old Tom this is what you will be doing, I'd have been…' Words fail him.

And here's another article I found, written by Tom Hiddleston in March 2009, before he was cast as Loki. In it, he talks about his acting process. Quite interesting:

Hiddleston will be an excellent Loki, I'm sure.

My manip and interpretation of how Loki should look, regal and cloaked for a lot of the time.

well soemone has pointed out saying it does have horns on loki's suit.
