Judi Dench’s photoshopped floating head.
Brave of them to expose themselves as furries like thatThis trailer honestly disturbed me when I was watching it - the cats look grotesque, and frightening. I've seen people saying that they look sexualized, but I'm not even seeing that: these...creatures...just look gross. Their size is weird, first of all - they're so tiny compared to the furniture that they seem more like ferrets or something. They're just...icky.
Just go fully animated. I feel like it's the song and story that's more important here.

When will Hollywood realize that cat people are just ****ing creepy no matter how you do it?
Gosh I loved that show.... Ron Perlman rocked as VincentThe actual stage musical never produced those feelings of disgust or repulsion though. I don't think it's simply "no matter how you do it." There must be a way around this to do it better.
I think having a physical fur costume would've helped so that it didn't look like it's just CGI fur. And then giving them cat make up on their faces.
Look at Ron Perlman in Beauty and the Beast. He was like a lion-man hybrid but didn't look creepy in the same way as Cats:

Is there anyone out there who legitimately likes this? It seems like the consensus is completely, unanimously against it.
Somebody will just because of who's in it and who's directing.
Not sure if I want to see what that would've looked like. The entire “furry” community seems to have embraced this film, on the one hand, or rejected it because they believe the film should have had real “furry” consultants to make it look better. I’m honestly disturbed.
It's Cats. There is no story.I'm sure this has been said in different ways. But I gotta also chime in--I don't understand this fascination with making animals humanlike for this production of Cats...

This is true. I’ve only been half joking when I said This production has always read as a product that may have been influenced by an acid trip. The stage play itself is super weird, and the movie is just running with that. It's Cats. There is no story.![]()
Well considering the inspiration for the musical, it makes sense. But even still, it's just... yeah. This is true. I’ve only been half joking when I said This production has always read as a product that may have been influenced by an acid trip. The stage play itself is super weird, and the movie is just running with that.

Eh... I have a couple of close friends who adore that show and are part of the fan community (yeah, there still is one, with conventions and stuff), but nothing will ever convince me that Linda Hamilton hooking up with the lovechild of a lion and Fabio isn’t creepy.
Unfortunately, it is true there is no story. It's actually more interesting listening to the album than it is watching the musical. It's just a bunch of unconnected numbers or sketches. I remember watching the musical in the theatre and feeling bored. Plus they cut out some numbers and also shortened "Memory" to the point that it was only a refrain and not even a proper song.
I wouldn't call the musical "super weird" though. That's what this film is. But it is a bit trying on your patience.
Not talking about her hooking up with him. I'm simply talking about his make up and overall look. It's more along the lines of how I'd want to see Lion-O from Thundercats done in live action than something from Cats.
All Cats go to Heaviside. It’s a musical about magical/evil/theatre loving cats that all come out and sing songs about themselves and then the formerly hot cat goes to heaven/is reincarnated.
That’s pretty friggin weird. And the movie is reflecting that.

Great series, one of my fave fantasy series! I remembered watching with my mom in the late 80 and 90, I was totally into Linda Hamilton as she was one of my boyhood crushes and Ron was charismatic as Vincent, great guest stars too and good writing.Gosh I loved that show.... Ron Perlman rocked as Vincent
