Smallville Tom Welling to reprise Superman role on The Flash?

I'd be cool with it. I thought Welling did an excellent job as Clark Kent.

Why wasn't this posted in the Flash section where more people would read it?

Why would it mention him for the Flash though? What about Supergirl? Doesn't that occupy the same CW universe (even though it's on CBS)? Will he be Superman for that show too?

Wouldn't Routh feel rather weird having Welling play Superman while he's stuck as the Atom? I thought Welling didn't even want to ever don the tights and cape anyway. This sounds rather like BS to me.

Hence why nobody else reported it. You can tell it's BS based the second you read the thread title (no offence to OP).

I seriously doubt Routh would care. I do feel bad for him though. He went from potentially one of the biggest hollywood movies ever to a CW show....

It likely isn't true but never know could be a chanfe. And dark as of right now no cbs supergirl series and a part of arrowverse. Plus wouldn't really work out well. Since supers are fairly new in arroweverse. And in this supergirl show there is a superman who been active for many yrs.

In less time he has had a better acting career than Welling though.

If they are going to separate the tv universe from the movies. They might as well introduce sups and Bats. Have someone different though. Welling would be weird. Smallville had their own versions of the Flash, Arrow etc...

Use someone new. Then if you are going to do so, why not their own tv show?

Smallville ran for 10 years. Tom Welling, being the main character was extremely busy throughout. Now, he's in a few minor movies roles here once in two years since the show's stopped.

I know this is a crapshoot but I was kinda hoping for something to do with Clark/Sups. Flash has David Nutter as an EP. I think it would be really cool if he wanted to cameo.

It would have been nice to see Welling play Superman but they never gave the payoff. The cgi attempt was laughably bad.

Yeah I mean he's now finally where Welling was 14 years ago, the head of his own WB/CW show (maybe)? :loco:

Actor A: Gets cast as lead in a major franchise motion picture after some minor TV work. Movie underwhelms and franchise is rebooted/recast. Over the next nine years, actor goes on to some bit parts in other rather unnoticed films, then starts taking sporadic TV roles. Now has possible co-star role in a spin-off series on the CW playing a superhero.

Actor B: Gets cast as lead in a WB/CW TV show after some minor TV/modeling work. Show goes on to become longest-running comic genre show of all-time, running for 10 seasons. Does some intermittent movies during this time (one with Steve Martin) which are mildly successful and even spawn a sequel. After run of TV show ends, actor takes time off, gets divorced, but then goes on to do movie work with Paul Giamatti, Billy Bob Thornton, Kevin Costner, Tom Wilkinson, etc. with the latest due out next February.

But Actor A has obviously had the "better acting career" right?

Keep fighting the good fight though...

The big problem they keep talking about is the continuity with "Smallville". Why?!? Fans can figure out it's two different universes. Having Welling would be a thank you to the fans of "Smallville" who stuck by the show for 10yrs.

Not to mention fans of The Flash should be thankful to Smallville because without Smallville there's no Arrow, and without Arrow there's no Flash.

I love The Flash BTW this wasnt intended as a shot at them .

Also, not that I put much stock in it either, but this story seemingly isn't going away:

‘The Flash’ Season 2 News: Tom Welling May Reprise His Role as Superman in Cameo

Interesting that rumor mills keep churning stuff like this out 4 years after Smallville's finale. :D

I was curious what was going on in here and this is somewhat entertaining.

This sounds like wish-fulfillment rumor mongering to me, but I guess we'll see.

I stopped watching The Flash because it was just the same thing every episode. Sorta like season 1 or 2 of Smallville with a different krypto freak, so I got really bored and stopped watching.

If this turns out to be true, I will probably start watching the show again.

:supes:

It picked up in the second half, if that helps.

Tom Welling, aka "I'm never wearing the supersuit because I don't want to" making a cameo as Superman? :lmao:

You're trying to be cute, but I have a feeling he won't do it and your opportunities for :lmao: at Tom Welling's expense will be minimal.

He has a film coming out in the spring, so who knows what else he has coming up? He may not have time, even if he were willing to work on TV again.

wow i ruffled someone's feathers

I laugh at Tom and Smallville's later seasons on a regular basis. Believe me there's more than enough comedy therein :funny:

No, not at all... My feathers remain unruffled, mostly because I honestly don't think he'll do it, but I guess we'll see whether you will get your :lmao:

I don't agree, but you're entitled to your opinion...
