Homecoming Tony Revolori is Flash Thompson

Can we change the ridiculous first post yet?

Ehhhhhhhh, I need to see a clip of him acting as Flash. He still doesnt quite look right. Something about him rubs me the wrong way. Actually a number of things.

yup, among other things he's noticeably shorter than Tom so if we get scenes of him pushing Peter around they're gonna be cringe

Maybe they wanna drive home that Peter was that pathetic before he got his powers that somebody smaller than him could kick his ass. :p

Don't know if it was said but Tony "Flash Thompson" Revolori is doing ScreenJunkies Movie Fights this week. It's on ScreenJunkies Plus right now, but should be on Youtube on Saturday

This is a movie. RDJ is like 5'7 and Paltrow is like 6'1. He doesn't look noticeably shorter than her in any of the IM movies. There are concerns I have with the casting but I hardly think height is worth getting our collective panties in a knot over.

I remember some getting bothered over the idea of an actor playing Peter who was what, 5'5? Like that was a legitimate issue to 'em. :funny:

This was also before we had any idea of what Marvel/Sony were looking for in their Peter Parker. What a dark time that was.

If you're talking about Matthew Lintz, he was even shorter than 5'5" and looked about 10 or 12 years old.

If you're talking about Isaac Hemstead-Wright, he wasn't that short but was a girl. :o

And if you're talking about someone's idea for Maisie Williams as Peter Parker...

I just found it funny considering Ultimate Peter Parker is 5'6".

5'5" or 5'6" or 5'7" is actually perfect height for a HS aged Peter Parker.

much better than say, 6'1" lol.

and, it's a good thing they didn't go with 6'1" Asa as Peter cuz then he'd be dwarfing the new Flash, and that would certainly NOT look right.......lol.

Yeah, imagine that image.

How tall is Tony's Flash anyway?

he's listed as 5'6". Tom is listed as 5'8".

when you see them on stage together at CC, they look roughly the same height. but both would be considered "small" and that's my problem with this casting. Flash shouldn't be a short, jerky looking dork who's not any more physically intimidating than Peter.

it's the wrong visual and the wrong dynamic.

His height shouldn't be a problem given how easy it is to make actors look taller or shorter

RDJ is a prime example

Wrong dynamic remains to be seen (though CC footage suggests that is somewhat accurate).

The CC footage suggests the right dynamic or suggests the wrong dynamic?

speaking of which. I really wished they released that CC footage online. I wanna see!! lol

They can use camera tricks, angles and boxes to make Revolori's Flash look taller than Asa as Peter. :o

Mixed, I guess. Flash was upstaged by Peter as he usually is which angered him, but that's all we had.

While he wasn't blonde, I thought Raimi's Flash Thompson had the right physique and looked like a big, rich jock.

Zylka's was more of the dumb blonde Flash.

So, with Tony, I kind of wonder which route they're taking him. He doesn't have much height difference on Tony and not much of an imposing look about him, so are they going to make him a *****ey tool? A pampered rich boy? A dumb jock? With him being at a science and technology school, it seems like he's either going to be a kid who was sent there out of his own will, the school picked up because he was some expelled leftover from another school, or his parents are some rich contributor to the school and want their kid to follow in their footsteps of something in the field of science or technology.

Unless, they go for the cliché that he really isn't a threat but when surrounded by his bros/boys then he seems like one. Which if that is the case, I still don't understand why they cast that kid as Ned vs. Kenny Kong.

Joe Manganiello's Flash was pretty bad overall, though. Zylka's was a step in the right direction.

If Tony can give us a something of actual substance, we may be alright.

they'll use CGI. :o

thanks.

yeah, if Flash is getting upset that Peter upstages him in academics, then that does change the dynamic, imo. it's turning Flash into a fellow intellectual - an intellectual rival they seem to be going for. In a sense, though, it's making Flash more like Peter.

same with making MJ awkward and bookish, it's making her more like Peter.

it kind of takes away the uniqueness of Peter if the others around him are more like him.

most likely, this Flash will be more of a preppy d*****. probably won't be athletic.

and I do wonder, are all the kids at this school nerds and geeks?

cuz even Sally is described as a fellow geek who's friends with Peter.

again, making them all seem like Peter.

are they all geeks at this school just with different "cliques" of geeks? lol

I liked Zylka too and they went certainly further with the character than they did with Manganiello's Flash but I agree they need to go further with Flash than just having him be the bully/rival or misunderstood brute. I'd like to see an arc for him for at least 2-3 movies but that may be asking for much and please no Agent Venom.
