The Dark Knight Too Many Villains Already?

this thread might be closed quickly, i just dont know where else to discuss this...

Joker is a given...Now two-face is a given...and AMH is rumored to be the riddler...

granted one of these could be a setup for a 3rd...but it seems as if two-face is going to get more screen time then we at first assumed. and if AMH gets more screen time that will be 3 villains...Personally i think the movie will be great...im just a little worried about a little Spider-man 3 treatment...any one else concerned about this?

No, only Harvey needs setup and he's barely in this one as a conventional villain. I'll eat several large hats if that Riddler rumor turns out to be true

I'm not worried. its mainly just joker, but there is still maroni and scarecrow but i doubt they will get that much screentime. Two-face is set up for the third, and i doubt we will se much of nigma even if the rumor is true.

Joker's the only main villain. Supporting is Maroni, Scarecrow, and in act 3, Two Face.

I trust Chris Nolan can juggle them all quite well.

Two Face will only be at the end as the set up for the third, Joker will be the main villain, and Scarecrow will have a small roll. AMH said in his first interview that he plays a good guy, so i'm not sure where all this Riddler stuff comes from.

i respect your opinion...just curious why you think it will work if all those villains are involved and a possible Riddler...speculation only....

I agree that Scarecrow with a small role...Joker killing him????...and joker with the mafia wouldnt be too much...but twoface ten minute screen time is speculation too...for all we know he could be in it for the last hour and get away at the end to setup #3.

Because this isnt Spider-Man 3 each villain will play in Bruce/Batman evolution. I mean there were about 4-5 villains in Batman Begins but they had smaller roles. The Dark Knight will most likey be longer and it'll be plenty of room for these villains. Basically it goes like this

thats also a good point... but the 4-5 characters i mentioned are some of batmans most reknown villians...not meant for SMALL roles...i see your point though.

Basically my whole view. After Batman Begins, I think the guy can push the ante a bit further. It's not like these guys all have superpowers that need to be rendered and get in the way of their characterizations. The Joker will obviously be the focus as you mentioned, Maroni seems like he'll be given his time to shine, the Scarecrow will give the film some continuity, and Two-Face will show us how Harvey Dent cracked after his scarring.

Seems rather seamless to me, as opposed to another film with too many villains I once saw...

Ra's Al Ghul, Falcone, Scarecrow, Ra's Al Ghul again.

That's four villians in Begins - and it worked because of the script. You can't say there are too many villians when the only main villian were aware of is the Joker and then Maroni and Scarescrow in smaller capacities. Pretty sure Scarecrow has one scene and Two Face is rumored to only be in one final scene. We have no idea that AMH is the riddler, it was speculation on THIS BOARD that actually started that rumor.

Joker and Maroni are likely the only two villians that actually steer the plot.

And everyone that complains about multiple often point to the flawed Batman sequels and Spider-Man 3. What you're forgetting is that in those movies the villians often team up and come up with some corny plot to destroy the hero and that's what the movie is all about. I'm hoping we learned from Begins that Nolan isn't so cliche.

i never said theres too many villains..cause obviously we dont know whos villain and whos not so far...ive said in a few post its all SPECULATION...

i just think if they squeeze Joker, Scarecrow, Mafia, Two-face, POSSIBLE RUMORED Riddler...itll be too much. i guess the multiple villains idea has me more bothered because of SM3, and some of the batman movies...

in Batman Begins...it didnt seem like there was a MAIN villain to me... it went from Falcone..who gets arrested early...to scarecrow...to ras.... kinda hard to say theres a MAIN villain there until the last 20 minutes.

Joker was suppose to take over the mob as said in the teaser. So theres the connection between Sal Maroni. Scarecrow will probably get 5 mins of screentime. And Two-Face is just being set up for the sequel so I dont expect to see much of him. Thats not to many villains.
