Tool are expected to release their first album in five years on May 2nd. I want to see if the band is still as popular as it once was. Use this thread to talk about Tool in general as well.

You and your kooky polls...

Tool is an automatic sell as they don't fit into any specific genre (some say art-metal, some say prog metal, etc.), but they have a rabid, built-in fanbase. This was essentially the reason that A Perfect Circle's first record debuted at #3 I believe (which was a first for an unheard act with no previous release whatsoever). I know I'll be there to buy it. What's more amazing is that 85% of people who own their records don't even know what they look like.

They sell based on the music. They friggin' rule! Everyone go out and get the album the first day, so we can give them another number #1.

The title of the new album is supposed to be "10,000 Days" but some people think that is a bogus title put out by the band themselves.

Very different bands...never cared for Dream Theater myself.
Different bands, same genre, which is where you compare them. They are both Prog Metal. I prefer DT over Tool, any day of the week, and four times on Sundays.

Thats cool. To each his own. I go with Tool but I would take King Crimson over both at same time (sorry Tool, you are still the best of today in my book).

Three words: Nine Inch Nails

Love Tool, but Maynard will always be 2nd to Mr. Reznor

'the hell is tool?

never heard of them

A psychedelic/progressive rock/heavy metal band that became very popular in the 90s.

All of the bands you mentioned suck a lot.

I agree regarding 3 of the 4. Glad I put that third option though. Its quite popular.
