Top 10 Videogame bad asses

The ending was sad!? I didn't understand the ending! It wasn't sad, it was just stupid and confusing. I don't think Max Payne deserves an honorable mention. He's too much of a whiner. When he isn't mowing down mobsters, he's spouting out nonsensical "poetry" about how he's always gotten some kind of raw deal or about he and Mona can never be together.

Druggies killed his wife and newborn child. He was living in a world of **** since. In the second one, at the end, he finally hits rock bottom, and the last line is beautiful especially followed by the song that plays while the credits roll. So to me the ending wasn't really sad, it was more tragically happy. He can finally move on.

You know, Link is a great videogame character, one of the best, but he is in no way "bad ass" as you put it.

He's a little boy, in a skirt, who runs around with fairies and often times has borderline sexual encounters with strange men.

Link runs around with a fairy, plays the flute, looks like a chick, has an ear ring, wears a dress/tunic, needs a hair cut, and has as much meat on him as a fruit bar.

It was funnier when I said it two pages ago. But, I agree.

Yeah I know he was living in a world of ****. But hell, Isn't everybody else? I know that it was a terrible tragedy what happened to his family and all, but he's not the only one who's had to endure pain and loss like that. The way he broods makes him look rather selfish don't you think?

Dude! He's the friggin' Chosen One of Hyrule! The Hero of Time! Sure, when he's a little kid he's not much of a bad ass but when he grows up he becomes the sword swinging, Moblin slaying, treasure stealing, brooding vagabond that’s he’s always been destined to be.

'Nuff Said!

Yeah that's what I meant to say but you said it better...it was very bitter sweet. It's sad he lost the second woman he loved, but he can move on now, finally.

I got the ending where she lived but it just wasn't as good. And I loved the song at the end.

And come on...Max's world is a LOT ****tier than most.

Exactly! You know MC, you've got to be one of the sharpest kids I've ever known. I know full grown men who I had to explain the ending to. But what ever happened to the band that did that end song? I went to there web site and it send they were working on a cd. "Poets of the Fall" I wanna say. Great song. I wanna say the song was called "Late Good-bye".

Yes it was. If you notice, a janitor in the game is humming it, and its in Mona's appartment.

I never understood what was hard to understand about the ending but maybe some people didn't play the first...its still one of my most memorable endings of all time and sums up Max Payne completely.

There's good brooding, and then there's bad brooding.

Good brooding: Being pissed off about how you always seem to get the raw deal, but despite that you don't spend your time moping about it and go out and try to do something to change the situation.

Bad brooding: Too busy feeling sorry for yourself to go out there and act. Too reluctant to face your enemies. You'd rather let them come to you.

The latter is Max Payne in a nutshell!

lol. :o Actually he got the druggies, so he didn't really have any enemies. Then he went undercover and stumbled onto this bigger thing which he started investigating and it intertwined with the death o' his 'amily. Actually, I'm talking out of my ass, I haven't played the first game in over a year. :(
