I just noticed that it looks like the second weekend of "Indy" will be lower than the second week that Shellhead had; I thought that Indy would be the top grossing movie of the summer, but I still might be Iron Man.

what, ......you have a problem with that?

Iron Man was awesome, and Indy was mediocre. Of course there is TDK, and some ppl are anticipating TDK to top both Iron Man and Indy BO numbers.

I would love it if Iron Man was the top grossing movie of the summer, but Indy 4 is (undeservedly) raking in the dough. Indy IS entertaining but hasn't earned the right to outgross IM.

Indy 4 isn't raking it in like Iron Man at least when you compare the second weekends of both movies. I'll be interested to see how this weekend goes. If Indy falls faster than Iron Man, then Iron Man might beat Indy's box office eventhough Indy's 1st week end was better.

As of today, IM and Indy are only separated by $53mil domestically. And unless The Incredible Hulk gives IM a slight BO nudge (which I hope it does), then I think Iron Man is going to really start trickling to a halt. Indy, on the other hand, could potentially trudge on a few more weekends and catch up. And that would be a major disappointment to me. The big factor here IMO is the fact that theater owners are going to run Indy as long as they can due to the recognizable nature of the character - it has a proven marketability. And that longer exposure will only add to Indy's total cume.

Also, www.boxofficeguru.com is predicting Indy's BO this weekend to be $24mil, while IM is expected to bring in $9mil.

No matter what, it's going to be a tight race. And - speaking as a LONG TIME Indiana Jones fan - I'm rooting for Iron Man.

^I wonder if Iron Man would end up the top grossing movie of 2008. That would be sick but it will be a tight race between Indy and IM for the top spot.

I think it really depends on how Indy does this week. Kung Fu Panda is going to be the top grossing movie, and I think it could be pretty big, considering it's gotten very positive reviews. I should think it would at least do 50 million.

There's a chance Indy will jump back above Sex and the City. I can't immagine people wanting to go to that more than once. Obviously it had a big opening from all the wifes who dragged their husbands kicking and screaming to the theater to see it, because there's no way a female only audience draws those kind of numbers. I'm predicting a 60% drop for it.

SATC has been holding strong, so I don't see Indy topping it this weekend, but you never know. I think in 2 weeks, we'll know Indy will pass IM, and for TDK...it's a stretch to say it's going to do $350 dom based on the past performance of the franchise, imho. I'm somewhat excited to see Mummy:TOTDE, simply to see Jet as a villian again. Of course, Hulk is my most anticipated of the summer!

Indy lost 7 million of it's opening weekend lead last weekend, and stands to lose another 7-10 million this weekend...so in 4-5 weeks of this % loss, it will be undertracking IM.

3rd Weekend Estimates

Iron Man: 32 Mil
Indy 4: 23 Mil

Indy hasn't won yet.
