Well anyone see it last night, it's great I loved it, it explained some things about Jack but not everything like how he got back to our time, but hopefully they will.

But great show and there was swearing, blood and more.

So what did you all think of it?

It's a Doctor Who spin off. The title 'Torchwood' is a not-so-clever anagram of Doctor Who.

It's alright, has some good bits. But nothing to have a song and dance about, imo.

This show is just getting it wrong on EVERY level!

Its a MESS.

It wants to be the X-Files ... but is making two huge errors.

First .... EVERY episode places the focus on the Torchwood team instead of whats ACTUALLY happening around them. This would be fine every now and then but it just serves to make this 'Alien hunting super-team' seem stupid and weak .... You find yourself asking HOW did these clowns get a job like this??!
The problems they have to deal with are nearly always something THEY have created or started. They have never looked even slightly professional or smart.

Second ... The lame effort to add an 'adult' element ..... You can watch any episode for about 20 minutes and it will feel like and look like Doctor Who ... Then out of nowhere someone will say the F word, or talk about having sex with another character ..........
Imagine Mulder finding a crashed UFO, turning to Scully and saying "F*** me look at that" ... then asking if she would like a good pounding inside!

This will be lucky to survive the first season.

and her killing her dad was evil, Gwen thinking she wanted to see him as he was dieing and she killed him, so evil lol I did like it, and the whole connection with the glove if you bring somone back you die. And when Jack was shoting her and she wasn't dieing at first lol and the whole ''something in the dark is coming for you'' ??? wonder what? and then she died...............again lol.
And then the whole ''gloves come in paris of two''.

It's okay, but it's so inconsistant, it's almost a joke. They must be the worst 'secret organisation' of all time, with their Torchwood logo
emblazoned all over the Jack-Mobile...

I think it would be better if they had someone to answer to. It's a pity Yvonne Hartman is dead, she would've fitted in perfectly. I'd rather that than have them all running amok on the streets of Cardiff every week.

Agreed. Or bring back Mrs Moore from the cybermen episodes, she was great.

i loved the design of the alien heart ripper- it looks so beautiful but then its so evil. Again why did she have to go after a woman- whats with all the homosexual action- its like heterosexuality is now rare. i was under the impression the hand will only bring susie back for a little while-not the whole episode

What Im assuming, is that in terms of the sexuality of the characters, Russel T Davies has based it all upon some dialogue Jack used in an early episode: 'You humans and your quaint little catagories'.
So To me it seems that he's trying to show that people arent gay/straight/bisexual, and that they should just go with whatever appeals to them at the time.

It was a good episode last night, but im wondering how Captain Jack will be re-introduced into Doctor Who and if the other Torchwood members will be in it. Torchwood do need someone to answer too, they seem like an ameturish group compared to the Torchwood seen in Dr Who.

I have to admit, it's a bit weird that Torchwood as seen in Doctor Who was this massive agency with so much staff and resources, and the Torchwood in Cardiff is 5 people.

They don't answer to the Goverment or the UN or anything, but someone or something must have set them up at some point.

Queen Victoria set them up in Tooth and Claw so they must answer to the Government. Remember in The Christmas Invasion it was Prime Minister Harriat Jones who ordered Torchwood to destroy the aliens, But in Torchwood Jack says they are above the Government and he was telling the Prime Minister off in a recent episode. To me the two Torchwood's in the two programs seem like two compleatly different organisations, why dos'nt Torchwood Cardiff have more staff?? And dont say they were all killed by the Cybermen and Daleks because the were'nt.

That was the London Torchwood, the last episode of the season just gone where Rose goes.
He said that the London one was Torchwood one, and there are like number 2 or 4 or something.

Yeah, there're a few Torchwoods but why does Torchwood 2 only have 5 staff, just seems odd compared to Torchwoo1 who had loads.
