'Total Recall' ready for revival

Good interview. Wiseman comes off as a smart and likable guy. He confirms the hovercar chase and it sounds like they are really going all out on the shooting of it as it's going to take 15 days to complete due to the complex camera set ups and using the real cars they built, plus the fight sequence at Rekall described at SDCC seems to have been shot in a very unique way using multiple slider rigs. It's also interesting that although men are wearing the suits, in the movie they will be robots or as they are termed "synthetics."

So is this an adaptation of "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" or a reboot of "Total Recall"?

A Mix of both.

Not at all. There is no Quaid or Cohagen in the story, there's also nothing about two superstates. Everyone can read the story, just google, it's just 20 pages.

But it's not the same as the Arnie movie either, it's took the story and the movie and went it's own way with it, a mix as I said.

well, they took the names and characters from TOTAL RECALL and put them in a totally new story that has nothing to do with either the movie nor the short story. To say this is closer to the short story is just a marketing lie, as so often.

What they said in the interviews was they took the concept from Dick and the characters from the movie, and then expanded it into their own take on the ideas.

This movie's looking interesting so far, even if it's totally different from the 1990 movie.

It'd be hard to imagine anything Total Recall without Richter in it. He's still a great villain.

i'm glad they're remaking this one .. I think they can make it way better than the original

New footage from the hovercar chase filming, this time the car is being pulled vertically and Quaid is on the roof.

If all they're taking is the names of the charcters from the original, and going their own way with the story, then this is clearly not a re-make.

Why even call it Total Recall at all?

The fact that they're calling it a re-make is nothing more than a ploy to get butts in the seats.

The original Totall Recall is in my top 5 all time favorite movies, of all time. Re-making it is a bad idea.

Watch some of the interviews Golgo, they explain things pretty well about what they are doing. They have taken the characters from the movie and the original concept from the story and turned it into more of an espionage sci fi thriller. Cranston in particular explains things well. There is no point in them trying to constantly say it's not a remake but rather a mixed adaption, because people will keep calling it a remake anyway.

They could have used a different name and just said it was adapted from the source material "We can dream it for you wholesale" but they are using the characters from the movie so I guess they have to call it Total Recall.

To me it's simply a case of adapting the concept again because it has potential to expand into a different type of story to the Arnie movie.

I love so many things about the Arnie movie; Sharon Stone, Ronny Cox and Michael Ironside :awesome: - it's just pure 90's fun, but what i like most is the fact that you get to decide if the ending is real, or if he was still actually in the Rekall implantation chair.

I personally think he's in the rekall chair the whole time, due to the picture of Melina as his selection of women...

They don't have to call it that. They choose to do so because the name is already established.

Heh, I always felt it was real, but that is a great aspect to it that led to many debates, like the "Is Deckard an android" debates.

Well it's hardly a brand name like Aliens or Predator or Terminator but I'd agree with that, however wouldn't using the character names created for the movie require them to use the title? or just use an "Inspired by" in the opening credits?

Wiseman said at SDCC it would be PG-13 with a director's cut to come later.
