Aaron Eckhart suits up for 'Battle'

Aaron Eckhart is attached to star in "Battle: Los Angeles," a sci-fi actioner that Jonathan Liebesman is directing for Columbia. Neal Moritz and his Original Film are producing.

The deal puts the actor front and center on an action movie for the first time. Eckhart had made his name working on less mainstream films, among others starring in "In the Company of Men" and "Thank You for Smoking." He had one of his biggest roles to date in the summer, playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face in "The Dark Knight," the blockbuster that has grossed more than $997 million worldwide.

The story, written by Chris Bertolini, revolves around a Marine platoon's encounter in the battle on the streets of Los Angeles against an alien invasion. Eckhart will play the platoon leader in the film, which has yet to set a start date.

CAA-repped Eckhart next stars opposite Jennifer Aniston in "Traveling."

Sam Dickerman is overseeing the project for the studio.

hmm ok :whatever:

hopefully, they'll be more creative with the creature designs.

Im sick of alien bugs, gray aliens, or Stan Winston ripoffs.

This sounds interesting...nice to see Eckhart stepping out of his boundaries.

Awesome. Maybe we can finally get to see Eckhart kick some ass outside of a courtroom or congressional hearing.

Sounds interesting, but that title has 'Sci-Fi Channel Original Movie' written all over it.

I'm so tired of aliens attacking the world.

In movies I mean. Don't worry.

Latino Review said the script was garbage so maybe this isn't a good move for my boy Eckhart.

They aren't always right but their script reviews are pretty much on top of it. Besides when they reviewed the Happening's script called the Green Effect. They said it would rule but it was fail.

maybe Eckhart can bring Jonathan Nolan on board (too!) :funny:

yeah, this movie has "The Core" vibe written all over it. Poor Aaron.

He and his agent need to find him a star vehicle of high quality. They should at least get the title changed to something vague and slick. The title just is plain bad and I hope Eckhart's newfound success with TDK leads to him finally getting some recognition as a leading actor. All it takes though is one bad movie (which this sounds like it probably is) to bounce him back to supporting and indie star (which is not bad as those are usually better roles, but still).

Haven't you people seen Aliens or Predator? This has potential for awesomeness.

Eckhart's agent should get him cast as Captain America/Steve Rogers.:cwink:

I honestly do not know what to think about this... I think it's either awesome or crap.

That's not the Captain America suit I was hoping for....

Nay, there are usually layers. From 1 - 10, so to say. Here I have the feeling it's either 9/10 or 3/2/1 from me in terms of rating. (I have bad taste)
