ohhh i see that now they found a new way to promote the movie and make more money. promise the fans a directors cut. so even if they payed money they need to pay again if they want to see the ''real movie''. smart move hollywood.

its funny that before the movie is out he is already talking about a directors cut. ohhhh i know your directors R rated cuts Wise-boy . fake blood and dubbed cursing.

Watch the interview posted from Collider, he's simply shooting it as he sees fit, if something is deemed too violent by the board of classification it will be edited and put back in later, so at this point he doesn't know exactly what will pan out.

My only question...

Does Colin Farrell's eye's pop out of his head?

NYCC 2011: New 'Total Recall' Footage Teases Flying Cars, Cat Fights and Robots

After showing off some shiny 3D footage for Underworld Awakening, the fourth entry in his vampire/werewolf action series, producer Len Wiseman appeared a second time on the New York Comic Con jumbotron to introduce exclusive footage from his next directorial project, Total Recall.

The movie is a semi-remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi flick of the same name, but even after the first snippets of footage, the two films don't appear to share much other than a title and a loose, mind-bending scenario. The first round of footage was an extended version of the preview that played at SDCC (while Total Recall was still well into production). Colin Farrell plays Doug Quaid, who arrives at the brothel-esque Rekall center to have fake memories implanted into his brain—the ultimate form of escapism.

McClane (Star Trek actor John Cho, sporting a wild, bleached blonde do) runs the facility and personally assists Farrell with the process. But Rekall comes with one warning: You're not allowed to implant a memory that's actually true. Well, you can guess what happens next. Quaid's request to "become" a spy is denied when the machine goes haywire, due to a detection of truth. Before McClane can get answers out of Quaid, the Rekall center is infiltrated by a dozen robot and human police looking to bring Quaid down. The action sequence wowed audiences at San Diego, thanks to a wild series of gliding camera moves that follow Quaid has his inner killer turns on and beats the living daylights out of his opponents. Evidently, there's no CG trickery here—the filmmakers used the same techniques you see when a cam flies across the football field in an NFL game!

As far as I know, everything after this zippy camera move was new. The extended version of the scene sees Quaid escaping the Rekall Center through a duct and out into the open air of a futuristic metropolis. Then a sizzle reel of flashy imagery kicked in: Quaid running through a rainy, Blade Runner-esque slum; more of the flying cars and squeaky clean future city life; a vicious cat fight between Kate Beckinsale's Lori and Jessica Biel's Melina (which should bring smiles to those who know the original film); a vehicular crash/action scene atop a skyscraper/tower; and the meatiest of the shots, a quick dialogue between Quaid and Bryan Cranston's Vilos Cohaagen. Cohaagan was jabbing Quaid with a few threatening words, but they were barely audible over the screams Cranston received for just showing up.

Remakes will always make fans of the original nervous, but Total Recall may have enough imagination up its sleeve to make it feel like its own movie. Farrell isn't playing Ah-nuld (thankfully), and as we know from his diverse career, is fully capable of standing up and being the man. The brief shots of action we caught at the presentation made Farrell look like, for lack of a better phrase, a total badass, even amongst the movie's big scope. This movie may not take us to Mars, but from the quick reel of footage, it should end up taking us to enough other crazy places to make up for it.

How different will the new Total Recall reboot be from Paul Verhoeven and Arnold Schwarzenegger's classic Mars mystery? The answer is "entirely." At least that's what we got from the few glimpses of new footage screened at New York Comic Con.

Director Len Wiseman popped by the New York Comic Con (via pre-recorded video) to show off some brand new, never-before-seen, definitely not screened at San Diego Comic Con footage. Sadly, the bulk of the footage was the Rekall Center spa visit that we were shown in July. But just after the violet brain jack (or was it?) the audience was bombarded with oodles of new footage, and holy hell, is this slick ***** a horse of a different color. In fact, it's more of a shiny robot horse who knows kung-fu. This is what we noticed:

- Future cars everywhere! You've seen the countless Total Recall set shots with Jessica Biel (Melina) and Colin Farrell (Quaid) smashing into other futuristic cars, well now we got to see them in action. It was short but it felt very Minority Report, what with fast, possibly flying cars that could drive on the top and the bottom of a bridge.

- Girl fights! Jessica Biel and Kate Beckinsale are seen slapping each other for a brief moment but most of the lady time in this "trailer" was dedicated to Beckinsale. She's seen kissing Quaid, kicking Quaid, getting all sultry in a dark apartment, pointing a gun right at Quaid's head, and storming down a white hallway in black leather (very reminiscent of Vader's entrance in Star Wars A New Hope).

But the biggest thrill was watching Bryan Cranston's first appearance as Vilos Cohaagen. Sporting a suit with some sort of flak jacket, Cranston leers at Quaid and says something about how Quaid's memory or mind isn't the most reliable thing. It was hard to hear over all the screaming, although it was still pretty bad-ass. After all was said and done, you could tell this was a slick future with heaps of fighting. It's absolutely nothing like Verhoeven's past work, but hopefully that won't be a bad thing.

Total Recall

Up next was a sequence from the Total Recall remake (also introduced by Wiseman), which featured Colin Farrell as Douglas Quaid, the bored husband who visits a “recall” center to have false memories of adventure implanted into this mind. Things quickly go south as the recall guy (played with a wink by Harold & Kumar star John Cho) realizes that Quaid has already had his memories tampered with. Before anybody can say “WTF,” Armed troops barge in and shoot the place up – but before Quaid can even manage to piss his pants, something in his head clicks and he dispatches the entire squad single-handedly. After that, Quaid tried to find away out of the room he was trapped in, while the squad of guards use futuristic SWAT tech (such as a greneade-like object that bursts into a cluster of tiny sensors) to take Quaid down. Quaid, of course, escapes. [This is the same intro footage played at San Diego Comic-Con back in July].

From there we saw a montage of footage, including unfinished scenes of the futuristic world, and a hot girl-on-girl catfight between stars Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Yowza. There was also a great scene with Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.

On the whole, Total Recall looks like a surprisingly good sci-fi action flick. Consider our expectations raised.

The past few weeks I've been getting really excited for this film. I hope it is good, and hope we get a trailer soon for it.

It's been a really long time since I've seen the original--I really can't remember what the movie was about!

I absolutely can't ****ing wait to see Cranston as Cohagen. I think this will be next years Rise of The Planet of The Apes

Wow... a vicious cat fight between Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel. Two of my fave actresses... oooh. I can't wait to see this remake. Wonder when we'll get a trailer.

Has anyone heard the commentary track of Total Recall with Arnold? Its quite possibly one of the best commentary tracks to ever grace any dvd disc. At first I thought it might have been a parody but its in fact very real.

Its easily findable on youtube. Can't post it because while its a prosthetic it does show some nudity.

The insight is incredible.

please let this be fake. i refuse to belive that Arnold and Verhoeven didnt know what commentary track means

It's real fortunately enough its part of the special features and I love every second of it. :funny:

Check out the Arnold and John Milius commentary track for Conan The Barbarian. More priceless gems.

The brazilian magazine Preview visited the Set and revealed interesting new information:

Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell) lives in New Asia with his wife, Lori (Kate Beckinsale), but is a factory worker in the United Federation of Britain, located on the rival superpower Euroamerica. To get there, Quaid takes a 60-stories elevator that transports hundreds of people back and fort through the two superpowers using a series of tunnels that cross the center of the Earth.

Later on, Quaid and Melina (Jessica Biel) become involved in a Zero-Gravity action scene taking place at the same elevator, when they become fugitives following the reveal that Quaid is a spy. At first, it appears that he's infiltrated in Euroamerica by the government of New Asia, but things are not what they seem.

That sounds like it should be spectacular, I had read that there were some huge sets built for the movie. Any idea if we will get a trailer in the next 2 weeks or so?

Thats what I want to know. According to someone over at CBM.com, he said there might be something in store within the next few weeks along with Underworld Awakening. Not so sure but I think its about time we got something.

Those get ups are pretty bad ass. The middle outfit reminds me of something, but I can't remember what.

Haven t really followed the news here and I m too lazy to search.

When does it come out? When can we expect first trailer?

The movie comes out in August of next year and as for the trailer, there might be one attached to Underworld:Awakening...who knows.
