Sequels Transformers 6 and future sequels thread

So much for humans not being 'the center of the universe', as Lockdown put it in AOE.

Of course, keep in mind this was also the guy who didn't want Cullen or Welker in their well-known roles for the films (from what I heard, Bay actually championed Cullen for the first one), so Bay isn't the only problem with these movies.

That and, of course his false promises of the following aspects being featured in TLK about a year back: Prime and Megatron's backstory, more Dinobot screentime, emergence of a new Prime (debatable due to Quintessa, and very arguably so due to her being a deceiver), and a new kind of Decepticon (another arguable one with Infernocus, but he didn't have a meaty role either way so what was the point?).

Cullen is something special though. I could honestly just listen to that man talk for hours and relive my childhood...happily.

I actually spent a good portion of yesterday watching panels with him and Frank Welker. Other than Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen, they're my favorite bromance duo. :funny:

Didn't know his inspiration for Optimus' voice until a while ago.

I would have liked the scientist guy a bit more if he was missing a hand.

That would of made him more enjoyable!

If Bay's truly out for the 6th movie, I can only hope they do away with Bonaventura as well.

It's strange seeing people defending these films by saying they're just dumb action films about robots fighting with humans in the middle.

I don't think anyone expects these films to be intellectual masterpieces. But the fact is they don't even provide fun thrills any more.

It depends. Subjectivity is a thing after all. I enjoy them in a guilty pleasure kind of way (minus AoE, I really dislike that one, and I genuinely think the first one is a good movie), but that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge their flaws or respond adequately when something stupid comes up.

Like this recent Quintessa thing, for instance.

For me up until this movie they did do that. I genuinely still class the first as a good movie also. But TLK was a real let down even for someone like me who has enjoyed the franchise up until then.

People like what they like. I can't make people not like these movies.

I do find it amusing when friends claim that Bay makes these movies for the fans, when these movies are pretty divisive among hardcore Transformers fans.

But for the longest time, their success was often justified by their box office even though they got terrible reviews. But now, the box office erosion has set in for this franchise. So it's not just the critics who don't get it anymore.

It's domestic numbers are also terrible. It's only going to have a fraction of the first movie's domestic numbers.

I liked the first one as popcorn entertainment. I watched the show as a kid, so it was fun to see a big screen adaptation with cool visuals.

That's ok. A Transformers movie doesn't need to be a masterpiece. The positive aspects, with the cool-looking robots being the main thing, was enough to create a big audience for sequels.

But then that just became an excuse to turn the franchise into a ***** show, basically, if you'll pardon the terminology, but I feel it's appropriate. The first movie wasn't anything great, but it wasn't on that level.

Transformers can be fun, blockbuster entertainment in live action now, with the quality of VFX that is currently possible. But they need to stop making it a landfill for everything that can potentially be stupid and obnoxious about this type of movie.

Oh I like the first film. And I even enjoy Dark of the Moon. I mean come on Malkovich's performance has to be seen to believed!

But the last two films were just incredibly boring for me. It just astounds me how Bay manages to make these films feel about 5 hours long.

You couldn't be more right. While watching DoM & AoE, I kept thinking is this movie 5 hours long???

Hey guys! New here, probably this has been talked here about but I have some questions about the movie. I was amazed how bored and confused I was during the whole film. I enjoyed about 30 minutes out of 2.5 hours screen-time. And this comes from a person who has seen other movies 2-3 times and watched most of the animated series.

Things I liked were the awesome visuals when Cybertron docked on Earth, Anthony, some fighting scenes, the 3 headed dragon, and the intro of the movie (seemed quite good apart from Merlin)

Now the things I didnt quite get:

* how was Bee able to speak when facing Nemesis, and how was Nemesis able to turn to Optimus that easily. Ive seen bots going crazy after being tainted with dark energon.
* where did Bee get his hammer
* how did the first bots learned English, when Optimus in first movie said that they have learned the language from world wide web
* how did Megatron change his appearance
* how did Decepticons find out where the junk yard with autobots is. And why did they attack the autobots in the beginning, if they were to retreat that easily
* so many more questions that its almost impossible to comprehend

Thanks :D

I can answer that one!
Military gave the decepticons the autobots location after they put a tag on Bumblebee. They wanted Megatron to do the "dirty work" of finding the "weapon" then they would attempt to take it from him. That was their plan anyway

1. I think Optimus hit Bumblebee's voice box when he lunged at him the second time with the sword and that somehow fixed it. A lazy explanation, but it's the one I've got. As for Optimus turning back so quickly, I guess hearing Bee's voice after what seemed like eons (even though we all know he spoke at the end of the first one) immediately snapped him out of Quintessa's control. Quite easily so, which sucked.

2. Along with many things in this movie, it's never explained.

3. Suspension of disbelief applies here, though it shouldn't. Unless the Knights have the same learning skills as the Autobots, I'm not really sure why they managed to speak in english. Not to mention why they didn't talk cybertronian towards Optimus when they were about to execute him.

4. You're left to assume that, since he also had the red mark that Nemesis had, that sometime before the present events of TLK took place that he met up with Quintessa (no idea how) and she gave him a makeover. Again, this is never explained.

5. A little foggy on this one, but I think they followed the TRF there since they tracked Bumblebee, thus allowing them to discover their base and attack. They did make a deal with them, so I think they traded the other Decepticons' release for the Autobots' location.

@skulldevil and @confusion

but autobots found the bug and got rid of it afterwards.I don't remember exactly, but, later in the movie, after they destroyed the bug TRF or Decepticons were able to track them.
One more thingy that i was shocked about was Bee being able to reassemble himself :D apart from that, thanks for the insights!

plot-holes are strong in this one :ilv:

Bumblebee's random powers make no sense.

Just like the writers gave the new Decepticons powers to disintegrate into like nano machines and reassemble themselves in a snap. Like...what kind of Transformer power is that? It's sort of an overly convenient power that I never recall any of them having before. Why would they even need vehicle forms if they can just turn into mechanical mist and float around where ever they want at rapid speed?

Glad to see China isn't racing to save this garbage either.
