Transformers Transformers The Game!!!

OK, I DON'T KNOW WHAT IGN OR GAMESPOT ARE GIVING THIS GAME BUT IF IT'S ANYTHING BELOW A 7.5, THEY'RE IDIOTS!!!:o WHY DO I SAY THAT, WELL TO PUT IT IN A VERY SOPHISTICATED WAY, THIS GAME IS FREAKIN AWESOME, LOL!!! I HAVE THE PS3 VERSION, NOW GRANTED I HAVEN'T PLAYED MUCH JUST THE FIRST PART WITH BB AND A BIT WITH JAZZ, WHO IS A BROTHA, LOL!!! THE LEVELS ARE FREE ROAMING, YOU HAVE CHALENGES TO COMPLETE FOR UNLOCKABLES YOU COLLECT ENERGON CUBES TO UNLOCK THE CHALENGES AMONG OTHER TASKS!!! THE DESTUCTIBLE INVIRONMENTS ARE FREAKIN AWESOME, FOR EXAMPLE, I SHOT A CORNER OF SAM'S HIGH SCHOOL, THE FIRE SPREAD BLOWING UP THE ENTIRE SCHOOL AS IT SPREAD SECTION BY SECTION, IT WAS AWESOME!!! MASSIVE AND I MEAN MASSIVE EXPLOSIONS WHEN YOU BLOW UP A GAS STATION OR PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING WITH GAS IN IT, OH AND BY THE WAY YOU WILL GO FLYING FROM THE EXPLOSION IF YOU'RE DUMB ENOUGH TO STICK AROUND!!! SO FAR I LOVE THE GAME, 11/10!!!:oldrazz::D:up:
thanks! i am so going to get the game now!
oh, and ign gave it less than a 7.5 so they are idiots!

^ As expected from a movie-licensed game then^, I'll probably wait for a demo to pop up on marketplace before deciding on this one

the pc version is available at Target, that is where I got mine from. the only thing i don't like about it besides the bad flying controls is megs voice. dont get me wrong im a g1 loyalist but that doesnt sound good at all. interested to see how hugo does it :trans:

I dont think they were at first... but the ridiculous high sales of the Wii have demanded it. http://www.businessweek.com/globalb...?chan=top+news_top+news+index_global+business
Just last month alone it sold 4 times more than PS3 and twice as much as 360.

We still need tha 'killer app' like 360's Gears of War! I don't think a franchise game like Metroid or Mario-Something is gonna cut it. It needs something new and innovative!!! Manhunt 2? I dunno. Something!

E3 is in a week or two and I think you'll see some pretty freakin' cool things come out of that.

My Review of Transformers:The Game for PS3 (Identical to X360)

Score (out of 10) 6.5

Yay: Nice Graphics...most of the time, Smooth Animation/Transforming, Great Sound Effects, Score, Good Voice Acting, Size of the City.

Nay: Mildly ******ed AI, Randomly God Aweful Collision Detection, Lackluster Combat, Frustrating Trial and Error Getup, Shotty Driving Controll.

Ok, the first thing I want to do is let you know a bit about myself. I am a fan of Transformers in general. I enjoyed the franchise when I was a kid, I had the toys, and I am familiar with and have my favorite Transformers. I do not consider myself a fanboy of Transformers...however I am a huge fan of video games. I've been a casual gamer since I could hold a NES controller in my hand, so this review is not so much about the game in terms of how it relates to Transformers as a fan, or how much it is/isn't like G1, etc. It is solely based on my likes/dislikes as a gamer.

Music/Sound: The music and sound effects in this game are top notch. It really feels epic. There is nothing more gratifying in a game to me than hearing an awesome melodic tone sweeping across senses as you attempt to do something daring or heroic in a game. Music that gets you pumped, gives you a little extra drive, that sends a slight chill down your back when you hear it ..thats what I'm talking about, and this game delivers. From the subtle sound effects of ambient noise to the clanging metalic noises of metal rivets and plates folding into place when you transform (Sorry guys, no G1 sound effect here), the squeeling of your tires as you break to take a sharp turn, it all adds to the realism. The weapon Sound effects are standard fare, what you'd expect from gund/missiles etc. Crank up the volume and take it all in.

Graphics: The graphics are good. All the robots are fully detailed and nicely animated. Some of the explosion effects, actually look a bit dull and textureless. Blackouts EMP burst for example, just looks like a textureless blue bubble, and some shrapnel that hits your robot just explodes in a hazy gray textureless circle. Overall, the game looks nice, but some of the effects look partially completed. The ambient lighting is quite good, as are the shading effects. When you walk or jump/fall on the ground you cause various sized cracks in the ground. Unfortunately, they can be there one minute, but if you turn the camera the wrong way, they either disapear or apear in the air. The crumbeling effects of the buildings are ok. Not great, not bad.

Gameplay: The game is average as far as gameplay goes. The controlls are fine. I would have liked tighter controll over vehicles/aircraft but that is just me. The fighting is pretty lackluster. Press the attack button over and over to perform a 3-4 hit combo. Yay. Press R1 to perform a heavy ranged attack, or R2 to perform a light ranged attack. It's all standard fare, machine guns and missiles of various sizes. Sad part is, most enemies, especially bosses, are imune to these attacks, so you really have to resort to running in, and pressing the attack button over and over. Sometimes you have to pick up itesm and hurl them at the enemy to get them to stop what they are doing in order to rush in, and slam on the attack button.
Speaking of picking things up, they should have worked on that more. I spend more time running around jamming the pick up button trying to pick something up, then I do actally hurling said object. Targeting is your standard fare, press L1 to lock on, but only after you have grazed your white targeting cross hair over the enemy...it just doesn't feel right. Targeting is iffy as well, just like picking things up.
The collision detection pisses me off to no end at times. I could be driving around, slaming into trees, uprooting them, or rushing through police barriers without a problem...but as soon as I drive over a random fence post....my car gets stuck and I have to transform to get un stuck. This has to be the most frustrating part of the game. I was chasing Baricade and a bus turned in front of me, it just pushed be backwards, backing up did no good, i had to transform and destroy to get un stuck. Mind you I failed that mission because i couldn't catch up to Baricade in time. I've gotten stuck on fences, downed trees, standing trees (that don't move) and I was even wedged between two buildings once, and I had to restart my game to get out of the mess. Horrible..horrible.
The AI is not very good. They will mosey around...get stuck between buildings where you can't hit them. They too will get stuck in traffic or IN another vehicle. Remember that mission I was talking about where I had to chase Barricade and I got stuck behind a bus? Well the next time I tried it, I was driving after Barricade, and I couldn't find him...I back tracked and found him wedged between a bus and a taxi..just stuck...also, when fighting a cement mixer decepticon, it was stuck on it's nose in vehicle mode, in a playground. It's just frustrating to fail a mission because of shotty controlls.

Overall: It's an entertaining game, but it's no masterpiece. It gets frustrating at times. Rent it, see if you like it. If you do, buy it. If not, get your play out of it and move on. It's worth playing if you are a fan, but I'm not sure how much fun a non fan would have, if they were just looking for an action game.

Alright, here's two questions for gamers that have this game (please keep in mind I have a PS2):

#1) Compare it to other movie games that have come out this year, specifically Ghost Rider and SPiderman 3.

#2) Compare it to Transformers the Game, the prior TF game release, can't remember when it came out. I got it for $14 at Sears.

I want to buy this game, my kids love Transformers and want to see the movie, but I feel burned by Spidey 3 and GR, so I'm hesitant right now. I'm just looking for some reason to buy it.

Thanks in advance.

oooo..you bought the GR video game? sorry to hear that pergdaddy.

i'm pretty disappointed that this game seems to be mediocre so far. i haven't played it but i have a good feeling this will just be a rental (not a purchase) for me. it'd be nice if they ever made a Transformers game with the quality that Gears of War or Lair has.

Bumpady Bump. As for the folling;

Alright, here's two questions for gamers that have this game (please keep in mind I have a PS2):

#1) Compare it to other movie games that have come out this year, specifically Ghost Rider and SPiderman 3. **** Overall I enjoy the TF game over SM3. The story is alot more solid, the voice acting is better, the game looks better. I'd give it to TF, though I really think they score about the same in my book overall.****

#2) Compare it to Transformers the Game, the prior TF game release, can't remember when it came out. I got it for $14 at Sears. ****Again, I'd give it to this latest TF release. The customization gave for more game play options in the old TF game, but overall, TF:TM has more story, more character interaction, and lets not forget, you play the bad guys, a completely different side of the story which will be nice to see after the movie.****

I want to buy this game, my kids love Transformers and want to see the movie, but I feel burned by Spidey 3 and GR, so I'm hesitant right now. I'm just looking for some reason to buy it.

hey guys i just got the transformers game for ps3, so far its pretty kool. kinda reminds me of incredible hulk ultimate destruction.. but im uploading a video of the first level now on yout tube.. on the spiderman 3 boards i cleared the whole game and i captured the whole game and put it up on youtube bit by bit all the way till the ending.. im gonna do the same with transformers.. so for those that dont have the ps3 version just watch for my updates.. anyways it will be up in a couple min.

I have been playing the game for PS3 and it is awesome I can't wait till I get to were I can play as Megatron!

Thanks Superman. I think I'm gonna just go ahead and buy it.

Dorky,
Yes. It wasn't bad, could've been worse. So far out of the movie games I have (Spidey 3, GR, Cars), Cars is the best out of them. But I thought the planning and everything would have been better on GR and Spidey. It made me think they put the games together real quick to get them out when the movie came out (GR and Spidey). Like I said I have 5 and 3 year old sons, so Cars was a must anyway, but it really is a fun game.

Well, does anyone know where the cheapest place it is to get TF for PS2? I'm gonna be lazy today, sorry guys.

as much as i didn't want it to be, it looks like it's the same case for TF:the game. a word of advice, rent it before you buy it ;)

I might have to, but I'm a glutton for punishment. It might be worth it especially to be the Decepticons. My kids love the bad guys. My 5 year old loves Bonecrusher and my 3 year old loves Scorponok.

I might wait and see if I can get a decent price on it before I buy it.

Thanks for your advice though, dorky, I appreciate it.

I made to the part of the game where you fight Starscream and Blackout. There tough to beat.

I wish Melbourne House would do another Transformers game. The one based on Armada was great and looked amazing. It had some of the biggest open world levels. I would love a game done by them based on G1.

yep im gonna tape everything, havent had too much time to play tho.. but i'll get to it.

Got mine today, not a bad little game, the camera angles and lack of control picking stuff up irritates me at times.

I just got the game yesterday, and Im sorry to say that so far Im not really that impressed. Now granted, I havnt played as a decepticon yet, but I just started the level with Optimus Prime. Everything so far is so repetative. You drive somewhere in a certain amount of time, beat up some robots, then go to another point rinse and repeat. I sure do hope it gets better, and Im about tired of the night time stuff, and IMO its kinda hard to operate the camera and if you arent in the right position especially in the suburb areas, then its easy to lose your line of sight with trees. Now, I do think that it looks absolutely amazing, especially the cut scenes, and those are purty! Im sure that Im not the only one who feels this way. I just dont feel like going through this whole thread to see who feels the same way. lol Oh yeah I guess that I should say that I got it for the 360.

Is it worth buying?? I want to get it but these reviews are making me think twice.

I honestly cant say yet, because Im not really that far into the game, but Im just saying what I have experienced so far. I would actually go rent it first to make sure that you like it.

ive already beaten the Decepticon side, and got halfway through the autobot side, i just defeated Shockwave, to be honest i believe its only worth a rent
