I hate this, but it's one of the biggest franchises of WB (like Spider-man for Sony and Star Wars for Fox).

Optimus Prime looks like crap...All the transformers look like JP Manga robots, rather than anything like the cartoon that I grew up watching...Optimus should be red and blue...not some funky color scheme that some god awful director came up with.

This is coming from someone who think Electra was a good movie.

I prefer Optimus movie look over his old toon version personally

I hope that doesn't include the dreadful paintjob.

Why? I think he looks good for such huge summer blockbuster as TF.

I don't know what it is! Honestly I have nothing against the guy, but everytime I see him on screen I start getting this really annoyed feeling in the pit of my stomach. Maybe he reminds me of someone, I don't know. :-/

I just saw it, and it´s damn cool.
The trailer is very good, and i have nothing against Michael Bay, in fact, as popcorn directors go, i think he is one of the best.
But i still find it to be the movie version of Wii.
Everyone will see it for the novelty and nostalgy...but i can´t see it having legs to walk (the Wii remark was beause many people bought it, and 90%, for the novelty of it, not because i think it doesn´t have legs to walk).
It might be a huge sucess, but, will people get interested in seeing it for more than an action movie?
Will people actually care for giant robots fighting each other?

If your gonna diss it atleast spell it right. it's Elektra. With a K.

The trailer was great.
It teased me, which was exactly what it should've done and didn't really show jack s***.

The CGI looks AMAZING and I'm digging the shots of the Autobots driving on the desert road and Scorpinok.

The shiny giant robots and dark atmosphere reminds me of the last 10 minutes of Power Rangers the Movie. Here's hoping the movie has some decent scenes of the 'bots in daylight.

The flames on Prime still make me hurl.

Ditto

I can get used to the flames, myself.

I am glad that the Transformers look how they look.
It looks more realistic, more life-like (if you catch my drift), and would look silly if they had rectanglular legs, etc, in real life.

I'm kinda looking forward to this. What's keeping me from being impatient it is that it's directed by Michael Bay.

I've yet to enjoy any of his movies, so this might be the first one I'll like

Looks like typical Bay to me, tons of explosions, very little substance. Then again, its a movie based on an 80s cartoon with robots that turn into vehicles...I'm sooo conflicted over this movie. And on another side, its produced by Spielberg....I DON'T KNOW!
I hate Bay as much as the next guy, but if ever there was material made for him, it's this. I love transormers, and they crafted a pretty nice mythology for them, but deep it aint.

Meh.

I caught the "phenomenon" when I was really young (just missed the majority of it as Transformers were being moved off the shelves for TMNT, GI Joes, Power Rangers, etc.) so I am not nearly as fondly connected to this cartoon as many people are.

Looking at this....meh. It was jsut a giant commerical for kids to go "cool" at. Cool cars or badass trucks, motorcycles, dinosaurs, planes, ships, insert noun, turning into even cooer giant robots and duking it out. It was silly stupid fun to sell action figures.

Now with Michael Bay at the helm it is selling more than that....it is selling product placement and from five shots of it in the teaser trailer alone....it will be selling A LOT of product placement. It looks light on substance and heavy on style. But hey after he screwed the pooch with Pearl Harbor, who expected a good movie ever again from Michael Bay?

But this movie loses the basic principal of the show, "the cool giant robots are the stars." In this movie the robots are background characters to dumbass humans running around with your stupid teenage love story featuring rising stars (Shai LeBeau) and some stupid wisecracking military badass (Tyron). It isi trying to be ID4 but I see it being more of a Godzilla in that it loses focus on what people wants, same with AVP being a bad movie but worst of all it focused more on lame humans who all died instead of Aliens fighting predators.

In short, it looks bad, it lost what made the shallow show so good and it will likely be another front-loaded box office disappointment, on line with Godzilla or Hulk.

That is my fearless prediction anyways though.

P.S.

I just read (in this forum) the same screenwriter of Catwoman, The Island (another movie with a lot of potential that sucked) and MIIII (which I thought was mediocre, with some nice actin g and direction but another boring pointless plot and star vehicle) collaborated for this.

It be doomed, indeed.

on the contrary....the screenwriters are one of the reasons why the movie is as faithful to the cartoon as it is (though that's not saying much). if the script were in the hands of different screenwriters, it would've potentially turned out to be a TOTALLY different monster...
