The movie was a decent action flick, but nothing behind that. Despite that, I loved Eric Bana's Hector and Rose Byrne's Briseis. The artwork for both editions looks spectacular, but I'm going to see what people say about it and if it is truly a director's cut or something the studio hashed together like Antoine Fuqua's 'director's cut' for "King Arthur".

the page wont load for me :(... i hope this has Yeard's score in it

:woot: Happy days!

I love Troy. Pitt was perfect as Achilles.

It won't. It'll still have the same score done by Horner (with some new bits thrown in). Horner's score was another weakness I had with the film. It tried to imitate Yared's lush, ethnically-influenced score.

Obsidian, seeing as how i cant go to the damn link, what are they adding?..more Hector scenes?

Yeah, Brad Pitt kicked ass!
I love this movie
And I read that this cut will include more gore and violence yaaaay :cmad:

Im super pumped for this. Man I cant wait I loved Troy despite critics hating it. It was superb if you ask me. Bana was excellent and i pretty much like what ever Pitt is in.

damn, i really wanted Yeard's score in the movie, that was some amazing work he did for this movie

I have no idea. That's why I'm wary of it. I'll wait and see.

Interesting.

It was decent the way it was, I thought, wonder what they'll do with it.

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD release of Troy (Director’s Cut) on 18th September 2007. Director Wolfgang Petersen offers an all-new, unrated version of his epic film Troy starring Brad Pitt as the Greek warrior Achilles in this retelling of The Iliad. With 30-minutes of new footage, Troy (Director’s Cut) comes to both high definition formats day-and-date with the DVD release.

“The raw power of Homer, the sex, the brutality and the uncompromising battles really come to life in this version," says Petersen. “We went back to the way I first envisioned the film, when the full energy and impact of each scene had time to play out. Now, with great new visuals and sound design, audiences are going to have a deeper emotional experience of this literary classic. Thanks to Warner Home Video for giving me the opportunity to restore the creative integrity of my original vision.”

Priced at $34.99 SRP each, it’s not absolutely clear if all the extras from the DVD release will be carried over (these include a new introduction to the film by Petersen, and content from the original DVD release) but we do know you can expect the 196-minute film to be presented on a dual-layer disc in 1080P Widescreen with English Dolby True HD 5.1 Surround, English, French and Spanish 5.1 (Dolby Digital on Blu-ray, Dolby Digital Plus on HD DVD) and optional English, French, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese subtitles.

We only have artwork for the HD DVD release at this time..

I wasn't a huge fan of the film really, but I loved the Hector/Achillis battle

If it is re edited to make Bana Win, thn i'm in.. and bloom has to die!

I think this one is the real deal. At least it got a theatrical release in Germany, according to IMDb. And I remember reading some stuff about Troy DC from JoBlo.

I think I'm gonna pick the collector's edition. It looks sweet.

Yeah, me too. Yared's score rocked and the end credits song from Yared's score was epic and kickass. The one that ended in the film was lame. Wasn't it some kinda pop song? I haven't seen Troy since I saw it at advance screening back in 2004.

I love a lot of the shots in the film, truely the epic-sandle films will forever be known for their beautiful cinematography, the Hector/Achillies fight is poety, but the exclusion of the Gods just pissed me off and killed the magic of the story.

Bana and the fights were the best thing about the movie, so not sure if i'll buy this yet.

I agree the Hector v. Achilies fight was outstanding. I just thought the fight suffered from editing(if ya watch more closely u can tell were they split the film unless it was supposed to be that way). Other than that it was a great fight(think it rivaled some of star wars fights).
I might rent it when it comes out to check it out..

It was a good movie that was well written, but held back from being a great one by so-so direction.
Pitt gave a great physical performance, but his dialogue delivery was mostly wooden.
Byrne and Hector were great, and it has probably the best one on one fight ever in an ancient battle epic, hopefully the extended edition can turn a good movie great.

Oooooh, time to double dip again. I practically had to be dragged to the theater to see this, but I ended up loving it. Sweet.

man Bloom is an awful actor, he almost even ruins the Hector and Achillis fight. just watch that clip and pay attention to Bloom, hes just standing there going "look i can move my eyebrows" the whole time hes watching his brother get killed.

im pissed that this DVD case isnt the one inside the the collectors edition, cuz i love the art work on the regular directors cut. now i dont know which one to buy

o yah and last i saw this one was being advertised as more violence and more sex

LMFAO!! I'll have to watch for that next time I see the film.
