TV Movie Event of 2014 - The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story

So I watched this. Not sure why I didn't turn it off after the first 5 mins, but I guess I kept watching for the nostalgia of it.

My God, it was a ****** movie, though.

Were you expecting any different?

Not really, but I was at least expecting some actual "dirty laundry" to be aired, and one or two interesting secrets to be revealed. Plus, I loved SBTB back in the day so I did want to check this out.

Can't wait for the Brittany Murphy movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111

The Britney Murphy movie looks like it was made for, like, $60.

Seriously that girl could not look less like her. :funny:

Even though I heard this TV movie was bad, I am interested to learn about the behind the scenes drama/ issues that plauged the show. I think its HILARIOUS that most of the cast thinks that the actor that played Mr. Belding is creepy. Kelly's reaction to seeing him again on the Today show a few years ago was awkward and super funny. BTW he DID NOT age well.

Do any of you listen to GO BAYSIDE! ? It's a Saved By The Bell podcast that basically critiques every episode of the series as well as some behind the scenes stories. The host, comedian April Richardson sits down with a guest or two each week to review an episode.

I'd say about 90% of the guests she has are famous in some sort of way, and a few have actually either had run-ins with a few of the cast members and in one case, one of her guests was an extra in a number of episodes and had plenty of stories regarding the cast.

It's pretty entertaining if you enjoy picking apart the bull**** plots the show pulled off. And it's great listening to a mix of these people who were either obsessed with the show or have never seen an episode before they were asked to review it for GO BAYSIDE! . I highly recommend it.

Yeah, the problem was that they hardly delved into any serious behind-the-scenes problems or anything like that. It was all very tame and boring.

Agreed. The most controversial thing that happened was screech drank vodka...

To be fair, they really couldn't have gotten away with adapting Diamond's tell all on tv.

I have to wonder how much of Diamond's tell-all is actually true and how much is him just being a bitter, angry a**hole spilling nonsense to get back at his former costars.

According to his costars, 100% of it is BS.

They've all painted him as the bad guy in the aftermath. But, barring the questionable gory details in the tell all, his story has been pretty consistent from what I Ive seen.

But you have to consider the source. Someone who felt like the odd man out for years, and seen both professionally and publicly as a joke, things are bound to distort things and paint others in a harsh light.

I'm not calling Dustin Diamond a liar. I'm just saying his book is complete fiction.

It's crazy that the ONLY really successful person from the Saved By The Bell cast is Mario Lopez.

Ehhh. Gosselaar has had a pretty steady TV career since that show, and Tiffany Amber Thiessen has/had White Collar. I don't think I'd rate a hosting gig on Extra above them.

Tiffany Thiessen was also on Beverly Hills 90210 for quite some time before the show went to ****. I'd say the most unsuccessful of the original cast is Lark Vorhees (due mostly to mental illness), and Dustin Diamond, due to him being a gigantic d-bag.

And then Elizabeth Berkley is sort of in the middle. She still gets stuff occasionally, but doing Showgirls f***ed her.

Literally and figuratively.

Um.....wasnt the Graduation episode shot way before? then the network ordered more episodes which got us that replacement girl who vanished the last episode.

They never came back to the show to film the graduation. Talk about rewriting history.

Yeah Tori. I loved how she disappeared just as fast as she showed up in this movie.

Fun fact, she and Chris Hardwicke went on one date in college. She's now a lesbian. Not saying these two things are connected.

Dustin admitted a few years after the book came out alot of it was BS that the Ghostwriter came up with(or at least over embellished), he just went along with it for the cash.

As for the Movie I was hoping it was a bit trashier, seems like Lifetime went for more of a feelgood thing though. I guess I would have loved the down and dirty secrets. lol

The only thing this movie set out to do was try to make us feel somewhat bad about Dustin Diamond. Of course that didnt do it for me. It seemed to become less and less accurate as the movie went on.

Looks terrible.

But I did get a kick out of Mark Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer ****ting on Dustin Diamond in an interview I watched last night. I can't post it due to swearing, but it's good. :o

Yeah that interview was hilarious. Watched Bell a lot back in the day, had a major crush on Thiessen. I didn't belive this movie because None of them can stand Dustin Diamond.
