Action-Adventure Twisted Metal TV Series | Anthony Mackie

It's a fun time. I'm hooked on it honestly. The only character that resembles their video game counterpart is Sweet Tooth but this IP is dead as door nail in the gaming space so who gives a **** honestly. When's Arnett getting a crack at playing the Joker?

Can't, he's already Batman.

I was expecting this to be trash after how awful those trailers looked, but I actually ended up really enjoying this and I have no emotional connection to the games at all outside of playing it a few times back in middle school.

Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz had great chemistry IMO, but the biggest surprises to me was how much I enjoyed both Sweet Tooth and Thomas Haden Church in this.

The whole thing is super silly, goofy and trashy but that kind of adds to the charm of it and man Will Arnett really is great when it comes to his voice acting and I hope he does more of it.

Can't wait for Season 2.

The people that did the trailers for this needs to be slapped repeatedly. They made it look cheap and just not very good. I had zero intentions of watching because of them.

But... I kept hearing how good it was and was like, well okay I'll see what the fuss is about. Glad I did. I thought this was great. There wasn't one moment I was bored or even close to it. The episode lengths and pacing is perfect. All performances are fantastic.

Hope it does well enough for a second season. I'll be there day one.

Five episodes in and I’m loving it. Mackie and Beatriz make for fun leads and I love the swerve they took with Sweet Tooth, making him kind of a crazed vigilante more than a straight-up villain. Like others have said, they don’t really have any other characters from the games but it doesn’t really matter, especially since the last TM game barely had any characters in it aside from Sweet Tooth.

We’ve had so many post-apocalyptic movies and TV shows at this point that it’s tough to make them feel fresh and original but this one pulls it off; I think having a lead in Mackie who isn’t all tortured and angsty really helps. But he’s also not just an insufferable dweeb like Eisenberg was in Zombieland. And then you just have cool concepts like the mobile convoy city. I also think the mostly upbeat 90s soundtrack helps make it feel different.

The only thing that makes me sad is that this is on Peacock, so it would take a miracle for a second season to happen.

One of the best thing they did with this creatively is the first game takes place in 2005 and instead of moving the timeline up, they chose to have it set in an alternate 2005.

There are more characters from the games than people might realize. I believe episode 6 and 8 feature loads of in game characters, even if for a little bit.

Not sure how much I can post (or if it's OK to post spoilers) or how to use spoilers tags but I'm loving it. Only two more episodes until I'm done with season one.

I know it's apples and oranges but after the drag that Secret Invasion (and a lot of current CBM) have been recently this series has been a breath of fresh air.

Video game related content might be seeing a revival with Twisted Sister along with Witcher, Last of Us, Mario and even Sonic and Detective Pikachu.

Hopefully Fallout can tap on this craziness!

About halfway through. This show is a lot of fun

Finally had the time to finish it today and the last couple episodes did not disappoint. The show is more faithful to the game than I originally thought; I had totally forgotten that John Doe was a character in the games. And I loved that we finally got to see
Roadkill; it looked amazing. The demolition derby at the end very much felt like the game come to life, and it will only get better if we get a second season, since the tournament is coming. I loved the teases of Axel and Dollface. It’s also cool that they kind of merged the characters of Raven and Calypso. I’m looking forward to Neve Campbell having a bigger role in season 2.

As I said earlier, Mackie is great in this but Stephanie Beatriz was my series MVP. She really put everything into her character, especially in the last episode. It would be a tragedy if we don’t get to see Quiet’s and John Doe’s stories continue.

Giving this a chance since my Peacock subscription runs out on Sunday. Only two episodes in but as I thought, Arnett's voice work is the best part so far. Mackie is alright but
his character killing and eating a baby seal
in the first episode didn't do much to make him likeable.

I mean… ya gotta find some way to survive in the apocalypse. But yeah, that was awful.

Just watched the first episode of this and yeah, that choice of meal wasn't cool. The rest of the episode was a bit crazy. Wasn't prepared for how wacky this is and I'm not sure I quite like it. I'll watch the second episode soon to decide.

This was recently added to Paramount+ over here. Currently up to episode 7 and it's fantastic fun. Sweet Tooth is hilarious.

Im not going to lie, the song choices have also been amazing. :tearsofjoy:
