The Dark Knight Two-Suits???

Half and Half

  • Yes – Has to be half and half.

  • No- Tommy Lee ruined the half and half. Take him to The Mens Warehouse.

  • Doesn’t matter as long as his face is scared and he has a coin.

why are we even debating this? nobody has any clue as to what he will where yet, if he even has enough screentime to wear anything. i think the 2 sided suit is a defining character symbol and should be used. without the suit IMO he just wouldnt be 2face. and i havent ever seen a version of 2face where he is just wearing a one piece suit. ever.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Eckhart. You don't have enough screen-time to merit clothes. From now on, you'll be doing all your scenes naked." :oldrazz:

But seriously, I don't think the two-tone suit is necessary at all. It's not even like with The Joker's skin, where it would be a change I'm unhappy about, but can live with. I'm totally indifferent about Two-Face having a two-tone suit, almost to the extent where I care about it as much as I care about Eckhart being blonde. If it's there, that's nice. But I really don't mind if it isn't.

Two-Face should really be a gritty, no frills psychopath. The Joker is the "theatrical" one, Two-Face should be all business. And for that reason, I can't really see him getting a half-and-half suit tailored. I like the idea of one half of the suit being clean, while the other half is covered in blood and acid burns. And I also liked the suggestion someone made of it being black with white pinstripe, a more subtle way of highlighting the duality.

I agree it wouldn't be completely necessary, not like Joker's theatrics. But when someone mentions "split half and half suit", who's the first and only person to come to your mind? It has become pretty much a staple of the character, even if an unnecessary one.

I think the most important thing to remember is that Nolan & Co. are basically responsible for delivering this character on their own creative terms while remaining as true to the character as possible . . .

this presents new creative obstacles, because they already had a version (a shtytty one) of Two-Face onscreen.

I think they'll def go w/ the ragged half-suit to start with, and as Face gets more and more delusional, he'll eventually request that the half-suits be made . . . it will then become evident how the Two-Face personality takes over more and more until the situation comes to a head (a coin head --da-dum cssssh! :D)

I would only want one suite. I dont want a batman movie that's to bubble gumish.

I just hope Two Face doesn't have bumbling goons who wear split masks like in Forever. Gawd...

Yes, it's a staple. But to me, I think it's become one of these things where people just accept it because it's so established, and think that it's essential to the character without really THINKING about it.

When Two-Face was first created, he was one of many "gimmick villains". Post-Crisis, "The Long Halloween" and other stories did a lot to make Two-Face a darker, grittier character. But to me, the two-toned suit is one of the last remnants of that corny "Rob 2 million dollars with 2 henchmen from the Second National Bank at 2:22pm on February 2nd" era. I was thankful that Tim Sale at least toned down the gaudy orange/purple combo to a more stylish black/grey. I'm happy with them keeping that in the comics.

But as far as the movie adaptation goes, I'm all for ditching the two-tone suit. Arguing that it's crucial to the character is like arguing that grey tights with black undies is crucial to the character of Batman, which movies like "Batman" and "Begins" of course showed was not the case.

How about we just ditch a LOT of what was in Forever... Good idea? :woot:

half and half would be great if done properly
nothing at all like the shumacher one...yuk

Ugh, the tiger stripes make me rip my eyes out. Not to mention how I hated how his so called "normal" side had a red tie.

I think Two-Face having a split suit might come across as being a bit contrived/hokey on film and I don't believe it's even as important as Joker's purple suit. I think it'd be best to leave that visual item in the comics.

I was thinking that, rather than a flamboyant custom-taylored suit, the left side could be torn and mutilated, by Harvey himself. Perhaps discolored by something, bleached so that it has a different tone than the right side.

I would like to see his suit half partially burned by the acid, that would still be pretty close to the original. Then maybe in the third flick he can get a half suit.

I know this thread is pure speculation since this is far in advance, but out of curiosity and for the sake of conversation, lets hear some ideas as to how a guy gets a 'half and half' suit in Nolan universe. Any ideas?

I'll start with the obvious:

TF: Excuse me miss, I'd like the left side in this color, and the right side in (pauses, flips coin to chose)... this color.

^^^now that the obvious is out of the way, lets hear some ideas!

Like I said, he mutilates one half of a regular business suit (torches it, rips it, whatever).

i would also agree that the two suit thing isnt the best idea. it was already shown by tommy lee how it doesnt work. (obviously per the reminding pic just posted) and since that failed, it should be grounded in more reality. scarecrow didnt need a sickle and straw hat. it there core character we love the most. if dent has a scarred and disfigured face (not split evenly down the middle..again done and failed) and has a coin...what more do we need? he just needs to be his character.

For a climax scene, maybe. I'd be wary.

This kind of thing can bring a carefully constructed reality crashing down, it's VERY different to the Joker's version of self-expression.

I'd much rather cinematography and acting be the main methods to accentuate a split personality. Camera angles, shadow, different voices and expressions. If this is all working right then a split suit might be over-the-top or forceful or tacky. Like, WE GET IT, he's Two-Face, please don't reduce him to a cartoon.

God...his face being scarred evenly down the middle was so ridiculous in BF. Seriously...how...

Ok, here's what Nolan should do to get Two Face right...the opposite of what Schumacher did.

I think just the middle/bottom on the side of his face should be scarred, and it should definately not be purple! Also some of his hair should be burnt off too.
