I figured we could probably hire a screen at a cinema for a private viewing, and if we could get a large enough group of people interested it would make it worthwhile. Anyone interested?

maybe for the near apocalypse of '09 or perhaps justice league new frontier but not for this trollocks...

You'd need a licence from Warner Bros to do that, and a cinema with digital projection as I doubt Doomsday is avaliable on celluloid.

Finding a cinema with with digital projection is no problem. Also, you don't need to have a license to hire a room for a private screening.

Only the big cinemas have digital, and I doubt they're going to let you rent an entire screen.

No, but if you watch the start of any DVD or video you'll see a message which says, 'this product is for home viewing only and is not for public showing'.

That's not true. All new cinemas have digital projection. My local one does. AND my company has hired a screen there before for a private screening (of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, not that it matters)

The whole point of a private screening is basically that you are borrowing their equipment to watch a film that you own, and have the right to watch. It's just like ahving a few mates round to watch the film at home, only on a larger scale. Seriously dude, I looked into it. It's just a question of fronting up the cash, which is why you need to get a large enough group of people to gether to make it worthwhile.
