I liked Ultimate X-Men to a point, about the same point for Ultimate Spider-man too.
I liked X-men until hmm, not sure when I stopped but I think it was around the Hellfire Club and the phoenix and the return of Magneto maybe.
and I skimmed some of ultimatum and did not like it.
damn you stopped early. Honestly I'd recommend going back and atleast check out UXM up to Brian K. Vaughan's run. His run is the best in the series and definitely worth the read. You prob wouldn't like Ult X than but I suggest if anything flipping through it at your CBS and decide based on what you see.

Just out of curiosity where were you at in USM when you stopped reading it?

I liked it also myself. It was a great opener. What was weak was the preview for Ultimates 2 in the back. It just seemed very weak to me and I have a feeling I am not going to like it. :(
Didn't Ultimates 2 come out years ago? I'm sure I own the trades for that.

Im confused. I just saw a preview for New Ultimates in Ultimate X. I thought Ultimate Avengers replaced the Ultimates? Theres going to be 2 of them? Whats the difference?

New Ultimates:
Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Panther, Zarda, Shanna, Ka-zar & Valkyrie are the Ultimates. Public loves them and they are the public hero. Theme is the same as Millar's Ultimates 1 & 2.

Ultimate Avengers:

Rotating roster every 6 issues. The Black Ops team that Nick Fury, Hawkeye & the Original Black Widow did all kinds of nasty **** that the public eye wouldn't dare to even think about. You could consider these as the Modern Thunderbolts but these characters aren't all criminals. They're just all pretty much disturbed, ****ed up and some of them are just downright cruel people.

Anyhow yeah i couldn't resist so i read Ultimate X #1 Aswell. :awesome: Guilty as charged! Now you can really either read this as a loving Father-Son story where Jimmy Hudson (i loved the "guardian" tribute) learns more about his true-self. Or you can look at this as Spider-Man treatment on a character (teenager) with a Superman origin twist. (thinks he's human, learns he's not) but i'll go with the 1st one.

It's intriquing that Jimmy already has possibly 2 Mutant powers. Can he create metal/adamtium for his own protection? How did that happen? Was the mother Scarlet Witch (she can bend reality) and thus Jimmy got some reality twisting BUT with a metallic twist. ;) Really wanna see how this goes.

Allright New Ultimates preview... Eh i kinda didn't like Hawkeye's dialogue. Loeb isn't atleast (based off the preview) writing a nutcase Hawkeye but just a depressed one... I also like that he actually does show his hair. I really didn't dig the Black Widow look that Loeb originally wanted. Interesting to see Iron Man in an uncolored/war-machinish costume aswell. The poster has him in the golden/red suit so i wonder will he color this. I hope they won't go for golden+red but maybe the Red + Silver look? You know being DIFFERENT than the mainstream universe. :)

Ah well 3 weeks for Ultimate Avengers #5! Bring it on!

Yeah, I meant New Ultimates 2 preview, sorry. That's the one that looks weak. The Millar series has been wonderful so far. :D I'm really liking that one.

How the hell does Wolverine's son grow metal over his bone claws.....did Wolvie have an affair with Colossus*sheez* !!

Hahahaha well Colossus is gay and there was that awkward shower moment in UXM way back :hehe:

Draz, thanks for the breakdown of the titles

Anyways, I liked Ultimate X. It was alot better than I expected

I was wrong, it wasn't around the time of the Hellfire Club. I started getting a few issues here and there, but i think I stopped when Cable came, the Wolverine Cable thing I think. It wasn't that I hated ti so much I stopped buying it. Just that I had limited funds and didn't feel it was necessary. So it was probably around that time.
with Spider-Man... hmm. Probably right before Harry became the Hobgoblin. Again, it first seemed like a comic I HAD to have. Then after a while it felt less and less mandatory and eventually not something I needed at all.

I liked the Cable arc and I wouldn't really consider myself an Ultimate X-Men fan. Although, I drastically liked Ult. X-Men than the 90s to recent X-men stuff.

Venom, what's this about Tony in the you know what armor?

Ah ok I gotcha and its completely understandable. The Cable stuff I can see why, the series did drop in quality when Kirkman came onboard. I know thats weird to hear considering some of the awesome series Kirkman has written (The Walking Dead for example). But if you compare his UXM stuff with his other work it almost feels like his UXM was written by a completely differant person.

As for USM I can't suggest enough goin back and checking out the arcs you missed. If anything check out the Clone Saga (USM #97-105). That arc is hands down one of the best arcs in the whole series.

In the preview for New Ultimates they showed Tony in WM grey armor. Pretty much a normal IM armor but in grey. They never reveal why though. Personally I'm hoping this is just a **** up and when this issue comes out hes' sportin the red and golds.

I don't think it's a mistake. Rather it's either unpainted. It's a night stealth outfit or something along those lines.

Yea this is Tony we are talking about. He has quite the arsenal of armors to use.

That shot in ultimates 3 showcased all his armors, didn't it?

About X-Men, I am not really sure it was bad. But maybe it didn't interest me so much at the time. but it just seemed like a slump or something. So having to choose and pick, I decided against them. Then once I did that it became easier to say "I don't really think I want this this week."

I actually did want to read that, i would sneak peaks at the comic store, but I would think. Once its all collected in trade I will get it. I do that a lot, and lots of times just never get it. Lack of money. But I will seriously check it out. thanks Venom.

Maybe its Marvel trying to trick us.
I red a preview of Hulk, that featured the Thing.
But when I saw the actual comic it was totally different.
What they did was take the panels from several different pages, arrange them in a possible layout way, and put in the regular narration. I am almost certain they did that, just like in some previews they take out the dialogue.

So maybe Marvel is manipulating the pics slightly to keep the fans guessing and surprised.
Also, maybe its meant to show that Tony used the War Machine armor his brother made to advance his own armor. So that Iron Man can stay ahead of the tech curve.

Yeah, to be fair, comics have capitalized on "tricking" customers into buying cetain comics. When was the last time the cover to a comic you bought was specific to the plot inside.

I don't see how having an Iron Man armor thats grey is a FU to his brother or anything, and again the New Ultimates Poster we got the classical colors, click Here.

Tho Ultimate Avengers 1 happens 2 months after Ultimatum, wheres New Ultimates 8 months, but yeah i'd still hope they go for something like Silver Centurion armor color, JUST to be different from the mainstream. :)

Sneak Peek on Ultimate Enemy #2!

Man I hope the rest of Ult Enemy is as badass as the first issue was. Looks like the ult universe is gettin back on the right track after the Ultimatum cluster****.

yeah, lets hope this keeps up!

whats witht he weird monster and [BLACKOUT]the armor stuff on fury[/BLACKOUT]?

Not sure about the monster, but the other thing I just assumed it was some spy tech stuff.

Like I said, lame. It was the only thing I disliked about the book. I think they should have just left the claws as bone and be done with it. Nothing wrong with not having the metal.

Maybe its something that will be dealt with later on in future issues.

I gotta admit I'm liking the guest artist's work alot more than I thought I would. Hell I think I like it better than LaFuente's.

In regards to Armor Wars: Why is Tony fighting Master Chief? :o:huh::facepalm:
