Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - Part 2

No, it starts with Drake, briefly mentions Lawrence, then goes back to Drake.

Just beat it. What a lackluster ending, but at least it didn't have a drawn out boss fight like the last previous 2 games. To be honest, I kind of hate this game. It's not bad, just so many things that piss me off. I'm also really disappointed there are no singe player bonuses like UC2 with cheats or playing as different characters. I like those because games used to have them. Now it's just MP garbage. If it weren't for the fact that I like having every game in a series, I'd get rid of it.

Another thing I really hated was how they pretty much ignore the historical aspect of the plot in the last half or so. The announcement trailer made it seem like it would focus a lot on T.E. Lawrence, but I don't recall him being mentioned outside of a 1-2 cutscenes.

Wow, I didn't even notice this, but you're completely right. The entire hype surrounding this game kept talking about TE Lawrence, but then the game mentions him once or twice, excluding Drake quoting him at the beginning. That's rather frustrating, now that i think about it lol.

Yeah, I was disappointed since I'm a WWI buff. I would have liked it if they went into what he did during WWI and how it revolved around Ubar. Instead, it's just, "Hey, Lawrence was onto Drake and he found 2 places with more clues. Also, his death wasn't an accident" and nothing more. Drake's stuff is pretty absent after the fortress in Syria. And there were a lot fewer parts where you had to look at the journal to solve a puzzle. It was a bit tedious but I still kind of enjoyed it in UC2.

Ya, you're right, although the whole game feels very near to the Lawrence of Arabia feel.

ok no spoilers please but i just got to the bit where drake is drugged and kidnapped, have i far to go

as much as i love this series both 1 and 2 once i felt the story was really picking up it ended within a level or two

I said this in the previous theard...I'd like to see Nate in New York, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a chase that leads to the city's streets. I think that'd be great as one of the locations.

I recently read the latest Dan Brown book which, whilst cheap and tacky, made me think DC and the whole Stone Mason thing could be an interesting thing to explore.

I think doing something with Chinese history/mythology. There could be scenes with Drake running through crowded streets of Shanghai, teh Great Wall, stuff like that

I dont wanna see Drake and co go after another lost city though

The series needs to stay overseas. The US is boring.

Well places like DC and NY would work well for the start of the game I would think.

Well to some people the US is overseas and perhaps to those people, the constantly European themed treasure hunting movies are boring. I'd like to see something different.

The main characters are American, so the rest of the world is overseas to them. Granted I am a Europhile, but the continent does have over 1,000 years worth of history to use in a game.

One level in New York could be cool, to set up the story. But I like the globe trotting aspect. For the next game I want the gang to be after a specific item. Let's leave the lost cities alone for awhile.

Yeah, Globetrotting is obviously important but I would find somewhere like France or something about the Holy Grail (Which has been suggested quite a lot) really cliched. I like the idea of China and the great wall better than that. What I liked about the first two games is that they weren't really set in HUGE, big obvious countries that scream history. Like Borneo, Nepal etc. They make great settings and have unique environments but it's not the obvious thing of 'I'm in FRANCE now, I'm next to THIS famous monument' Uncharted has always felt, well, Uncharted. Exotic places more to the side of more well known areas.

My idea for an Uncharted sequel is actually that they just do a solely Nate and Elena game. For story purposes, it'd be great to just focus on their relationship for a whole game. My idea was that perhaps they have been travelling on their honeymoon or something like that, as a 'break' from treasure hunting (perhaps Nate has even sworn off it after nearly losing both Sully and Elena) and they either get wrapped up in something or Drake has secretly been investigating something whilst they were holidaying.

That premise could really lend itself to having a much more focused story, like the first one, where you're really with Elena and Nate at all times throughout their journey, instead of the U3 globetrotting aspect where one level you're in France, then suddenly you're in Syria then you're in Yemen. It was great for level design but it made the story feel a lot more broad.

I also think somewhere in Australia would be either a great starting point, if that was where we see them on their holiday, or a great place to end up. There's actually some really unique landscape in Australia that could lend itself well to a video game. Normally i wouldn't want any dev to go anywhere near Aus because I know they would butcher both the Australian culture and the history, as far as Aboriginal culture goes, but I could see Naughty Dog doing it really well. And mainly, it's a place that simply hasn't been done with any real depth before.

Obviously Aus doesn't have the same sort of history that a lot of places in Europe does, but it does also have A LOT of traces back to Europe, so could make a good starting point for a journey.

A game set in Eastern Europe/Middle-East around the Black and Caspian Seas could be interesting. Maybe something with Vlad the Imapler.

They definitely shouldn't have games set in major cities. Then it starts to feel like Assassin's Creed.

Wasn't U3 a game set around both Europe and the Middle East?

i'd like to see it set in england..and the search for excalibur taking nate from the wilds of scotland to the bussling madness of london for the search of legendary weapon excalibur.
have some secret catacoombs in stone henge.fighting "werewolves" on the moors etc.
I think that'd be fun!

Stonehenge would be an awesome location.

Drake in the British country side would be quite cool. Like the sort of town shown in War horse lol.
