Uncharted Uncharted 4: A Thief's End

IMHO don't make a game just to make a game and put out a bad product. We waited nine years for a new game from Rocksteady and look what happened.

CD Projekt RED took seven years to make Cyberpunk 2077, and it still wasn't ready to go at launch. They released a half-assed incomplete game.

Good game development takes time.
Exactly, which is why these re-releases come off as cash grabs.

The tlou1 remake retailed for the full $70 iirc, and I think it had its own controversy, something about a lack of gameplay improvements or content.

Concord also took a long time to develop, something like 8 years I think. But there is a rumor that they're bringing it back. I think it's doomed to fail again even if they do that.

I'm fine with cash grabs and remakes as long as they are done well. These games are classics for a reason, and I want them to be continually available for future consoles and generations.

to each their own. I'm not fine with cash grabs and I've been voting with my wallet by not buying them. and that's just the thing about being continuously available for future consoles and generations - ALL of the re-releases from Ps3 to 4 are backwards compatible on Ps5.

Uc1 originally released on Ps3. Ps4&5 aren't BC with Ps3 games, but Uc1 was remastered for Ps4, and the remaster is playable on Ps5.

tlou1 originally released on Ps3. it was remastered for Ps4, and it's playable on Ps5. but that game got rereleased again as a remake exclusively for Ps5 and then later for PC. that makes it twice that the game was re-released after the OG launched.

tlou2 was the swan song of the Ps4 and it's playable on Ps5, but got remastered anyway for Ps5 this year.

even Uc4 which this thread is about, is a Ps4 game but can be played via BC on Ps5. and it got remastered along with LL for Ps5 & PC.

The re-releases arent a Naught Dog issue but a general Sony issue overall. Most of their relases this gen have been remasters and remakes. There is something seriously wrong with upper management. As a brand they are doing well but there have been questionable decisions made which have affected their output

yeah, that I agree with. I feel the same way with the recent announcement of Horizon remastered and to a lesser extent, Until Dawn's remake.

the only re-release this gen that I felt welcome to was Demon's Souls. there was actual fan demand for that, and it's also the only time I paid full cost this generation.

however, these rereleases have all been very successful for them. tlou remake especially coinciding with the TV show seems to have sold quite well. and as long as the rereleases keep on doing that, Sony will keep on making them.

Great article. Man, I'm feeling so nostalgic now about Uc2. What a completely different stage in life I was back when that came came out.
