It seems there are tons of underused characters, both heroes and villains, who have a lot of potential, but never get used nowadays by writers at Marvel comics. It seems like DC comes more use of obscure characters then Marvel does, with series like 52.

What underused characters would you like to seen used and how would you use them?

Wolverine and Deadpool no doubt about it.:o

How about:
Black Knight
Firestar
Sersi
SCARLET WITCH

Deadpool...

I reckon we could squeeze him onto every cover with a little bit of thought.

That's true in way, but I think if they are going to use him again they should give some character development and make him a more fleshed out character instead of just being a plot device.

In his last appearance in Spider-Man where he attacked a subway was good, but he was more of plot device then a character in that story.

Have we ever really delved into his character, at all?

The New Defenders was a personal fave, and The Gargoyle was a terrific character. Not the most original visual design but a cool guy. I read he was on the cover of the original "initiative" but haven't heard from him since.

Moon Knight. I think the character has a lot of underused potential to be more awesome than he is.

Mysterio.
He should be the Wolverine of Villians

"Mysterio"

in defense, he is the current Spidey villain

Lila Cheney is due for a revitalization. Teleporting thief/rock star - she could be made cool again (possibly for the first time lol)

Marvel has gotten better with uplifting C-listers. Avengers: The Iniative really has aided there, as well as the Hood gang/Osborn/Thunderbolts giving some more press to other c-listers.

Some ones I have always wanted to see more of:

Silver Surfur-sure he was overdone in the 90s, I guess... certainly don't see eye to eye with marvel on what to do with this character, which they seem content to do nothing with him and save him at the behest of some big shot for their occasional poinant stand alone story or meaningless cameo.

US AGENT- I've always hated how he was stuck in such "token jerk version" mentality. He's never displayed the depth of his stint as cap.

Battlestar, who used to be US Agent's partner when Walker was Captain America. I always liked him.

The current movie-verse is a great chance to use these characters.. just as supporting characters, or small cameos, but still a good use

It would be nice to see Sleepwalker. His whole concept is really cool but I don't think he's popped up in anything recently.

.

The problem is almost all of the C-list villains in the Hood's gang have no personality or use their powers effectively.

For example Wizard is a complete megalomaniac, so why is he taking orders from the hood, why isn't Scarecrow acting like a psychopath and Madame Masque being Hood's moll seems like a complete down grade. Not to mention a lot of villains appearances outside of New avengers contradict, Wizard has gone insane recently an FF appearance, that isn't referenced in New Avengers and Tiger Shark being in both the hood's gang and the Lethal Legion makes no sense. Also almost none of the villains have used their powers well, because in most of the fights with the avengers, most of the villains forget their powers and try to punch the Avengers.

I would rather a character not be used, then being used very poorly.

I'd like to see Pete hand Spider-man his butt.

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I never understood Trapster as a character, he seems pretty lame to me.

I think he's lame because he is completely one dimensional and he's one dimensional because his motive makes no sense.

He invented super adhesives and decided to use them to rob banks for..........no reason. Why didn't he just patten the adhesives and make a ton of money legitimately. What does he like prison and sharing a cell with a large convict named Bubbha? His tech is more suitable for civilian uses then for crime.

Not to mention I can't imagine Trapster being a threat to spidey without a lot of plot induced stupidity, if Spidey can dance around some guy shooting bullets at him, why would a guy with a glue gun be a threat?

I don't know. I thought he quit the Superhero game when Osborn took over.

There are plenty of criminals out there who are smart enough to make a lot more money and have much better lives than they do. Turns out, if everyone who was a criminal was really reasonable and had a pragmatic and sensible approach to how they lived their lives, we'd have very few criminals. Most hardened criminals aren't in it because they had no other choice, there are other psychological and social factors that push them towards crime. The Trapster's not one dimensional. Everything I've seen where they try to make him a fleshed out character paint him as an angry, self loathing piece of **** who's too messed up to deal with the world so he just lashes out at it by stealing things and hurting people and getting involved in big super villain schemes, each time digging himself an even deeper hole and convincing himself he can't climb out and thus doing it more. That's not one dimensional at all, that's actually pretty layered for a 60s gimmick villain. It's pretty pathetic, but then almost all villains are pathetic in some way, seeing as how evil is inherently pathetic.

I actually always thought that The Trapster and The Shocker were kind of interesting to pair up, because they're really similar, but have both cultivated somewhat distinct personalities. The Trapster, first of all, has proven to be more outwardly homicidal than The Shocker on numerous occasions. Also, The Trapster has shone to be much more weak willed and misanthropic, while The Shocker comes off as more snarky and cynical and more inclined to tell someone to shove it up their ass. I always thought that they'd make good cast members of a comic about a bunch of old Spidey villains forming a crew to pull heists. The cast could be The Shocker, The Trapster, The Vulture, The Spot, and The Rhino. Make it a MAX title, give it a sci-fi crime noir feel, it'd be cool.
