Universal Monsters

So who is their Kevin Feige? Is it Kurtzman? Then I'll pass on this.

Kurtzman and Chris Morgan.

I say Sony. The DCEU might be a mess right now but at least there is some hope there with Wonder Woman and maybe some of their other films. Sony is an epic disaster on all fronts, and watching all of this unfold with this "Dark Universe" I actually forgot for a moment that Universal was the studio and was thinking it must be Sony.

I will say that the idea of the Phantom and Hunchback being added here is extremely naff. What is their purpose in the grand scheme of things? A mummy who is a goddess standing side by side with a.......half blind Hunchback.

Kurtzman would be better off staying quiet and focusing on putting together a coherent story and roster that is believable.

I'm sure Kurtzman is just hyping and trying to shine a light on the size of their potential roster. I doubt we see Phantom or Hunchback before any of the other mainline Monsters.

Quasimodo is kind of an underdog hero, so he will fit well here.

Eric the Phantom isn't just a composer, he's a skilled magician and illusionist, and also a genius when it comes to designing deadly traps and steampunk-level technology. So he's basically a period-specific Mandrake combined with Tony Stark. So there's potential there to have him fit in a Dark Universe format.

He's Quasimodo of the Hunchback Notre Dame. How do you bring him into a present day story? Did the magic gargoyles from the Disney film give him eternal life?

I always think about how Universal hired Frank Darabont to do the Huntsman movie (which he ended up not doing) around the same time they hired Kurtzman for this. Should've been the other way around...

So let's see:

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
Dracula
Frankenstein
The Bride of Frankenstein
The Creature from the Black Lagoon
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Invisible Man
The Mummy
The Phantom of the Opera
The Wolf Man

Do they actually have a plan? Because unless I'm mistaken, the next film up is The Bride of Frankenstein, and that's not due out until 2019. What exactly is the timetable here?

I plan on seeing The Mummy,
but I'm not excited about it per-se.
That, alone, may be the reason I end up enjoying it.

I am interested in seeing their version of
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. If done right,
that could actually be a chilling, light thriller type of film.

He'll be the Hunchback of The University of Notre Dame.

So Rudy after a bad accident?

Are these films simply just going to be set in the same universe or will it all lead up to a cross over film that sees Tom Cruise taking on other monsters or the monsters coming together for some reason?

It's unclear and I don't have too much hope despite me being interested in The Mummy but I won't **** all over it either. I'll give it a chance and see it play out

it'll be them coming together like tom's the mommy and the wolf man if the rock get's the roll and the bride of Franken stein if Angelina Jole' take the role and some people are pushing for a women protagonist among the monsters that would be heroes inthis universe. taking on evils like Dracula and depending on who of the monster's they will leave purely evil.

So this is basically what they are going for.

Marvel's Howling Comandoes Monster Squad.

Marvel's Howling Comandoes Monster Squad.
Or B.R.P.D.
or Creature Commandos

Nah, it really just seems like doing the action horror thing and then just throwing them together to do more action horror things

So this is basically what they are going for.

lol I knew some was gonna say and remeber seeinbg inthe ultimate spider man animated series. the only miss might be man thing and blade fight creature like Dracula or if mr. hide goes toally bad. the thing is even though the mummy inthe marvel was onthis team he's still consider bad guy at times. .

it'll be interesting what marvel say's about this when it/if happen / succeeds.

marvel still had the midnight sun though they haven't touched that in ages. it's kinda weird too seeing they turned dare devil team ofthe marvel knights into the defenders which were actually the hulk & dr. strange's team that they lead.

If your not counting the flash Gordan & man drake version of the defender. the defender of the earth . it always confuse when just throw name on any onbte not originally linked. but what ever.

To paraphrase GoTG; it's not a plan, it's barely a concept.

I got out of the premiere and the "seeds" for the other films are easter eggs at best. From memory, there's some visual references to the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and obviously Jekyll.

But that's all there really is, if you don't count the quick exposition made of there being a history to these monsters. Which I suppose may be a good thing, because I've a feeling after this bombs, Universal's going to pull a Dracula on this thing and ignore their foundation film again.

from what I've been seeing especially with that video I put up among them and other's I haven't cause they aren't available on youtube yet. (damn you space channel )they really want this thing to happen.

They are fallowing what star war's has be doing in fallowing marvel with building their universe to play with in the movies. marvel is the biggest since it's added tv series to some degree loosely . but they are trying do what marvel's doing. these guys are serious about this . we'll see how it goes. though.if the audience isn't feeling yep that's it.
