from what I've been seeing especially with that video I put up among them and other's I haven't cause they aren't available on youtube yet. (damn you space channel )they really want this thing to happen.

They are fallowing what star war's has be doing in fallowing marvel with building their universe to play with in the movies. marvel is the biggest since it's added tv series to some degree loosely . but they are trying do what marvel's doing. these guys are serious about this . we'll see how it goes. though.if the audience isn't feeling yep that's it.

Trying to do what Marvel is doing with Universal monsters is stupid and isn't going to work.

To paraphrase GoTG; it's not a plan, it's barely a concept.

I got out of the premiere and the "seeds" for the other films are easter eggs at best. From memory, there's some visual references to the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dracula, and obviously Jekyll.

But that's all there really is, if you don't count the quick exposition made of there being a history to these monsters. Which I suppose may be a good thing, because I've a feeling after this bombs, Universal's going to pull a Dracula on this thing and ignore their foundation film again.

So, what's the issue?
Untold was very self-contained.
Just threw Dracula to the present and left it ambiguous as to what could be next.

I guess the issue is, while Iron Man was fairly self-contained, they seeded in SHIELD and also Nick Fury. And Nick Fury told Iron Man about the Avengers.

It's fairly simple. Iron Man and other heroes will band together to save the world. These stories are based on pre-existing established comics. So all the backstories and villains, a lot of the basic relationships and conflicts are already established.

So Dark Universe. You have various rebooted versions of the Universal monsters. And they...do what exactly? Fight the Monster Squad? Fight Van Helsing? Form their own anti-Monster Squad? Fighting each other for dominion over the Earth?

I was honestly just referring to how they've set up this spinoff machine. Easter eggs are enough.
I would have to see it to understand whatever it is this is.

I think if you are doing a Universal Monster-verse, you can't really do what Marvel is doing with those properties. Unless you're Penny Dreadful. But that was one TV show, and it ended after three seasons. But that was a show with actual horror, thrills and dread. But Penny Dreadful crafted a story that involved sort of all sorts of horror archetypes and characters into one series. But it wasn't trying to give them all solo movies and then combine them into some mega movie.

it's still what they are doing they saw this thing as cool since starwar is doing it . it'snot that different with the video game indutry where they did the motion control Nintendo won that. Sony copyed them with move and ms failed with their kenect . then there was the play any ware in your house if you don't have access to your tv cause some else is watching in your living room. but you want to play games still despite not being as popular people inthe industry Copyed the tablet idea of the wiiu. and sony did their version with ps tv which allowed to play any in your if you don't have access ton the living tv and then there was the pro controller. and both sony and ms had plans doing the same thing as current nintendo switch.

the only different here is this is the movie industry with the fallowing the trend's marvel started, All to see if they can both compete and have their own franchise of a universe. but industries have their threads . be it fashion and food other's doing similar things. Who does it best win's . but the lot of them have their trends. And that's what it is to a degree here.

Don't forget about the cross over both NBC and CBs have with certain show being inthe same universe. which started before the cw had arrow and it's spin off 's fallowed .. that's a trend in it's self and has been happening for some time now too.

...I think I got the gist of what you wrote.

Right and for Marvel to be where it was it at its initial peak, it needed to come after two very specific franchises - Fast & Furious and Transformers.
Now this exists with Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan at the helm.

yep something like that. for the life of me movie wise I can't imagine what transformers can cross over with.

and the only that come's to my mind with Fast & Furious is Prison break and that latter one is a tv series.

But i'm saying that cause they have things in common with those two there's family and doing anything to protect them & save them . both cast's with the exception of the villains have been seen as criminals eta, but were in there for other reason
's like being framed in their pasts.

other wise they were good people before that. etc. Fast & Furious & prison break have similar themes alot . and it might work in a cross over if it wasn't for the fact that one'a a tv series. and better written depending on how you look at it.

Both the main protagnist's actors Vin Diesel and went worth miller are biracial. and have ether written books about it or told the press like NBC about when they were becoming big in movies .

lol I have to be careful I might be giving some of the movie writers Idea's .

Reminds me of when I used to watch the Drak Pack as a kid.

Shouldn't Frankenstein come out before Bride? That as the next film seems so random. Next should Jerkll and Hyde even if he's a villain or someone like Wolf - Man

If I was doing it, I wouldn't be gearing up for some massive get together, but after they are established, do 2-3 in a singular movie.

I'm looking forward to this, even though The Mummy doesn't look great. There'e room for a horror crossover universe. The only MCU series I could see going that route is possibly Doctor Strange.

I will say that the idea of the Phantom and Hunchback being added here is extremely naff. What is their purpose in the grand scheme of things? A mummy who is a goddess standing side by side with a.......half blind Hunchback.

Kurtzman would be better off staying quiet and focusing on putting together a coherent story and roster that is believable.

The Phantom isn't even a monster, likewise Quasimodo which is why including makes no sense. At least The Invisible Man, who while not a monster least would fit into the Dark Universe mold like Dr Jekyll.

As I've said before they'll probably roll Frankenstein's into Bride and make one film out of it. We don't really need a Frankenstein's Monster origin again to establish Bardem's Monster. They can do it all in Bride.

Not to repeat myself but, If I may interject before Universal signs the Rock as the Wolfman...I think i have better choices in my opinion.
I have nothing against Dwayne at all. I just think he is cast in too many roles now and we are all suffering from Dwayne Johnson overkill.
He appears to be attached to so many movies, when could he possibly fit Wolfman into his schedule anyway?
Also...he is a bit too large for the Wolfman. Unless, another actor is going to be the human male lead & Dwayne is just going to just appear in makeup as the wolf monster.
Universal should consider Dwayne for Frankenstein's monster & let Javier play Victor Frankenstein as the creator.
Either way, my choice for Wolfman aka Lawrence Talbot are...

or

Mel Gibson as the Wolfman.
Mads Mikkelsen as Dracula.

Both suggested on here. Love both of them.

Mel Gibson as an older Talbot who Prodigium has been hunting for years would be a really cool story.

Justin Kroll‏ @krolljvar
Dark Universe is far from dead but that said I highly doubt Uni gives any of these films to first time directors going forward

I look at Mel as he is now and I can totally see Lon Chaney Jr's Talbot.

Kurtzman was a mistake, but Bill Condon is a slam dunk for Bride of Frankenstein. Not only does he have a connection to the source material, but he just made a billion at the box office and is a damn fine director.

Condon has made as many bad movies as he has good ones.
