I've been begging for a faithful adaptation of Dracula for years. To hell with this misunderstand crap. Give me a true, unadulterated manifestation of evil.
So I went to see Dracula Untold today and there's two scene's where they've set up the future Monsters universe.
one is when the demon vampire or whatever he's called tel Vlad that he'll call in his favour one day and the last scene where it flash forwards to the present and Dracula sees his reincarnated wife and the old vampire sitting at a cafe. He walks behind them and say's "Let the games begin".

I think both of those are vague enough that we can ignore them and pretend this film isn't connected. It's not like Tony Stark showing up at the end of TIH. There's nothing that really directly attaches it to any continuity down the line.

But its' been confined Dracula Untold connects to the Monsters universe hasn't it? I'm sure I've read that .
I mean the last words spoken in the film is an absolutely crappy way to end a film because what the frik would those words mean if they are just for a single unconnected film?.

The way he was talking in the Cave Scene made it seem like he wanted personal revenge against someone equally ancient and powerful as him, perhaps Imohtep?
I do wonder, how they're going to modernise Frankenstein yet retain the aesthetic roots of the classic Universal iteration. Seems like it's going to be tricky.

Just do it like Untold. Have Frankenstein be made in the 1800s and do his story then and since the beast never dies he can just be a immortal wandering the earth throughout the ages. Make him more like the book where he can speaks fluently and in a poetic manner. Who knows maybe The Monster and Dracula crossed paths at one point. You can bring him to Modern times later.
A bit out of topic maybe, but I just watched Bud Abbot and lou Costello meet Frankenstein, and it was pretty good. The Wolfman makeup was maybe the best one from all the oldies and I think Lon Chaney Jr. was the thinnest he ever was in these movies. I got to say, it cracks me up now thinking about the scene where The Wolfman goes berserk on the phone. Here it is:

I think they were vague about it, because I think it was in production before they decided to do it. I think they were hoping this would be their "Iron Man." Unfortunately, there wasn't much inspired about it, unlike the first Iron Man. They picked one of my least favorite actors ever.
A site is claiming to have the script for the Mummy reboot. They posted the beginning scene summary
The story follows Navy Seal Tyler Colt and his mission in the Iraqi desert to find a group of terrorists hiding out in a bunker. To him and his teams surprise the terrorists within the bunker turn out be nothing more then some grave robbers who have all magically died. Upon entering the bunker Tyler and his team also succumb to some mystical forces out of their control. They soon realize the bunker they have infiltrated is actually a centuries old tomb. Mayhem erupts as all the Navy seal members start turning on one another and are captivated by the forces within the tomb. Tyler is the only one to make it all the way deep within the tomb alive to find an Black Iron Sarcophagus. It's marked with Egyptian symbols like the Ankh and Eye of Horus. Here Tyler is entranced by the forces to open up and release what is inside. But after placing his hand onto the sarcophagus he is immediately stabbed in the palm with a star shaped symbol. From then on his mind is cursed with visions of Ashurbanipal, King of Assyria.....The Mummy.
Don't know if its BS or not. Thought I'd share anyway.
I was hoping for a 30s or so period piece action franchise

A smaller, simpler time is necessary for the Universal Monsters. A monster like Frankenstein's just doesn't work for me in modern times. You need those older superstitions to feel relevant and to do that you need a period piece.
I was disappointed when I found I, Frankenstein wasn't Universal. I personally found that movie to be good. And Evans as Dracula and Eckhart as Frankenstein is a great headlining cast.
