Oi! My thread for the game is spelt correctly damnit!
UPDATE - As expected, Sega has announced that the content will indeed come to the U.S. on April 16, for a price of $4.99 per pack. No word of a discount for buying all three, however, so players may need to shell out $15 for all the content.
ORIGINAL STORY - The downloadable content for the criminally underappreciated Valkyria Chronicles has been given a date and price, at least in Europe. The press release from VG247 states the content will hit foreign shores on April 16, for the price of 3.99 euros per pack. That amounts to about $5 USD, but Sega could be planning a discount for buying all three packs together. A U.S. release hasn't been given, but we assume it will be on or near Thursday, April 16 to coincide with the European launch.
As previously reported, the content consists of three packs, all very different from each other. "Hard EX Mode" opens up a new difficulty level without allowing players to use the Edelweiss tank. "Edy's Mission" covers a new mission from the Gallian side, and "Selvaria's Mission" takes a look at the conflict from behind enemy lines.
The PlayStation 3 strategy RPG Valkyria Chronicles was well received with critics, but not so much by consumers -- a classic situation which unfortunately tends to cut promising franchises short. But according to an interview in Famitsu Weekly (via PS3center), Valkyria Chronicles producer Nonaka Ryutaro has at least expressed his interest in making a sequel.
This isn't a confirmation that a sequel ever will happen, but evidently Ryutaro stated he's "very adamant" about not leaving the franchise at just one game. While it didn't sell very well in America and Europe, the game did well in Japan, enough so to be inaugurated into the Greatest Hits line -- so there is, after all, still hope.
Good news for fans of stylish strategy RPGs. According to Gamasutra's latest weekly report of top selling games on Amazon, Sega's Valkyria Chronicles climbed into the top-five best-selling PlayStation 3 games in the U.S. (coming in at number five), and all the way to top of the PS3 list in Japan -- a surprising resurgence for a game that's already been tagged as a disappointment at retail.
The news was good enough for Sega to take particular notice, with the publisher issuing a new blog post in which they give themselves a few pats on the back. "Looks like all that evangelical work from the hardcore fans, coupled with the DLC and recent buzz about the game, is boosting Valkyria back up where it should be," the post reads. "It's good to finally see some great news for a game that truly deserves it."
The bigger implication here, though, is what the sales boost could mean for the future of the would-be franchise. It was recently revealed that producer Nonaka Ryutaro is "very adamant" about creating a sequel to the game, and common sense, at least, would suggest increasingly better sales would only make that prospect more likely. Let's hope that's the case.
I think it has more to do with the fact that the game recently was re-released as a budget title. I know many, including myself that wanted to try the game out but were waiting for some type of price drop or sale
I think Sega should consider patching this game with trophy support. That would defienetly get more people to play it
Just in Japan. The game has been going on sale here in the US though. Last week GS had it for $30 (still might) and I beleive Amazon has it for $40I could care less about trophies. I am glad to hear it will be available in a budget version. Is the budget version available yet?
Well, apart from Alicia..Has anyone been watching the anime series? I have, its been awesome so far. Its so faithful to the game right down to the character designs.

Face? Look lowerWhat do you mean? They're identical pretty much. The only person I find looks different is Welkin, who's face is a little longer in the cartoon.
Is it all in Japanese? If there are at least English subtitles, I might check it outHas anyone been watching the anime series? I have, its been awesome so far. Its so faithful to the game right down to the character designs.
