I've been detained (cuffed) twice for fighting and spent a night in jail for assault and battery. I also had a cop get really pissed at me freshman year for throwing a firecracker at his car.

We've all been in situations where we've met with uncontrolable difficult events, persistant a**holes, and any number of factors that could make us loose our cool.

How then do you stop yourself from loosing your temper?

I count to ten.

I've cut a hole in a fence to an energy plant and drove one of the small bulldozers around when I was a kid(never got caught).

I've stolen a few things when I was in my early teens(never got caught).

I got arrested after school because my dumbass friend had pot on him when we were walking home and he lit a joint right in front of an undercover cop.

But that's all in the past now.

The greatest tool against people and situations like this is only ONE and ONE only: INSIGHT!! Do you know what insight is? It is to understand the true nature of any given situation. Basically, when someone is angry and being a jerk you use insight to understand the situation about WHY this person is acting like this rather than just react to it aggressivlely as well. That angry person or jerk may have been abused, may have been traumatized, or is going through situation that has made them irritable.
