Kent and soon Ben working for Jonah. How the mighty have fallen indeed, but I'm sure it won't last for long. Curious where Sue is, but she's so straight laced at her job, maybe Montez decided to keep her around.
Hope we see Tom James again, but otherwise, enjoyed the premiere. Fast and snappy as Veep tends to be. But man, if Selina does indeed decide to run again, that would be interesting. It makes me wonder...how does a show like Veep end? We've already seen Selina lose the Presidency. I mean, what if it came full circle and it ended with her becoming someone else's Vice President?
You know, I've been thinking about NotNickFury's question on how this show will end. Then it hit me. In the season 3 premiere, when he gets fired, there is a throw-away line where Jonah boldly declares he will be back as President in 2026. The onlooking POTUS staffers mock him and retort "that's a mid-term year!"
That said, this is the exact type of foreshadowing Veep has used in the past, whether it was throw-away lines implying that the Iranian hostage was a spy (leading to Hughes's decision not to run and ultimate resignation) or Selina's dismissiveness of Doyle ultimately destroying her presidency. I think that Jonah's line is foreshadowing to the show's ending. In other words, I think the series finale will consist of Jonah becoming President in a midterm year.
I'm not sure if it will consist of a time jump to 2026 or something closer in temporal proximity. But I think, through some fault of Selina and her idiot staffers, POTUS and VPOTUS will have to resign and/or die and/or be impeached. And that will lead to Jonah becoming President. How you ask? I think he is going to somehow stumble his way into the position of Speaker of the House, making him second in line for the Presidency behind Veep.
The only way this ending could be even more fitting is if Selina becomes Jonah's vice-president. In that, the show will have come full circle, with Selina and her staff back in the VP office and once again taking orders from Jonad. Only instead of giving orders as liaison to the President, he will just be giving them as POTUS.
The fact that Jonah would suddenly be television's most realistic depiction of the real life Presidency is mortifying. But such a fitting end to the series.

Scary thing is, not only could I see that happening in typical Veep fashion...I almost feel like the show would welcome that kind of scenario. Jonah goes from being the POTUS' lapdog, laughing stock of the entire White House, stumbles his way into a House seat...and becomes President of the United States?
It's honestly the kind of ending this show deserves.
