Comedy "Veep" starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus on HBO

Dat Peter MacNicol guest actor nom.

Its for shows like this that I wish there were a best ensemble award. I am shocked that Ty Burrell is still getting nominated but Reid Scott, Timothy Simmons, Gary Cole, Kevin Dunn, Hugh Laurie, and Sam Richardson are getting snubbed. Hell, the whole best supporting actor in a comedy series category should just be the Veep cast.

I think SAG does that, but yeah, it would be nice if the Emmys would too.

I was gonna be so pissed off if JLD didn't win for Mother.

All the seasons are SUPER cheap right now on Amazon. S4 is 13.99.

Seeing "Best of 2016" lists that don't include "Mother" as Veep's best episode...

Kinda surprised they didn't take a shot at Trump with their tagline.

^Gary in that poster :funny:

I love this show so much. It's easily my favorite comedy on TV right now

I am very curious to see Selina function in a non-presidential or even non vice-presidential role. I mean, she's out of direct politics while Jonah has a seat in Congress- presumably for now- so the universe is off-balance.

But then, this is Veep.

Can't believe it's already back tonight.

Kent and soon Ben working for Jonah. How the mighty have fallen indeed, but I'm sure it won't last for long. Curious where Sue is, but she's so straight laced at her job, maybe Montez decided to keep her around.

Hope we see Tom James again, but otherwise, enjoyed the premiere. Fast and snappy as Veep tends to be. But man, if Selina does indeed decide to run again, that would be interesting. It makes me wonder...how does a show like Veep end? We've already seen Selina lose the Presidency. I mean, what if it came full circle and it ended with her becoming someone else's Vice President?

Everyone was so mean :funny:

It's a bit strange getting used to seeing everyone out of the White House, but that bit with Dan and Jonah had me rolling.

"We can't do anything about AIDS."
"Who are you? Ronald Reagan?"

Montez did keep Sue around, as was revealed by the final scene of season 5.

Good premiere episode. A lot of it was just expository, but such is needed to set the stage for the season. I loved Ben's come to Jesus talk with Selena.

You know, I've been thinking about NotNickFury's question on how this show will end. Then it hit me. In the season 3 premiere, when he gets fired, there is a throw-away line where Jonah boldly declares he will be back as President in 2026. The onlooking POTUS staffers mock him and retort "that's a mid-term year!"

That said, this is the exact type of foreshadowing Veep has used in the past, whether it was throw-away lines implying that the Iranian hostage was a spy (leading to Hughes's decision not to run and ultimate resignation) or Selina's dismissiveness of Doyle ultimately destroying her presidency. I think that Jonah's line is foreshadowing to the show's ending. In other words, I think the series finale will consist of Jonah becoming President in a midterm year.

I'm not sure if it will consist of a time jump to 2026 or something closer in temporal proximity. But I think, through some fault of Selina and her idiot staffers, POTUS and VPOTUS will have to resign and/or die and/or be impeached. And that will lead to Jonah becoming President. How you ask? I think he is going to somehow stumble his way into the position of Speaker of the House, making him second in line for the Presidency behind Veep.

The only way this ending could be even more fitting is if Selina becomes Jonah's vice-president. In that, the show will have come full circle, with Selina and her staff back in the VP office and once again taking orders from Jonad. Only instead of giving orders as liaison to the President, he will just be giving them as POTUS.

That's horrifying. (Kind of like our current presidency)

:funny: The fact that Jonah would suddenly be television's most realistic depiction of the real life Presidency is mortifying. But such a fitting end to the series.

:funny: I think I'd cry.

Scary thing is, not only could I see that happening in typical Veep fashion...I almost feel like the show would welcome that kind of scenario. Jonah goes from being the POTUS' lapdog, laughing stock of the entire White House, stumbles his way into a House seat...and becomes President of the United States?

It's honestly the kind of ending this show deserves.

President Jonads is such a perfect ending that I will be disappointed if it doesn't happen. But I really do think it is being set up for. I mean, the Kent/Ben pairing with Jonah must be going somewhere. Kent and Ben are no slouches. Ben is a party elder, seems to be well respected, and served as Chief of Staff to at least two Presidents. Meanwhile, Kent is considered the best pollster/metrics guy in DC and has managed at least two presidential campaigns. These are pretty big names for some random freshman Congressman to have on his staff. I guess it could just be designed to show how far those two have fallen, but I gotta think there is something bigger being built toward with that.

The only way that plot about the media villifying Selina for firing the artist her philandering husband f***ed behind her back could've been more timely is if Craster from Game of Thrones popped up, and tried to use it in a debate as an attempt to make himself look better after audio of him and Billy Bush leaked.

I knew Andrew was going to have an affair. That episode was incredible.

The college kid screaming "Don't talk over me!" at Selena reminded me of the Yale students and that Halloween dispute.

Richard Splett has been my favorite character this season, I just love his reactions
