Dare we hope that the one and only Venom is on his way back to the Marvel universe? It appears so.

“You wanted it, you got it! Brock is back – April 2017,” Marvel tweeted, including the issue’s cover by series artist Gerardo Sandoval, artwork which would indicate that not only will Eddie be returning to the symbiote’s world, the pair will once again re-team as Venom.

Part of me wants to be wary that it's a swerve, but it could be that they're finally listening to the fans.

I hope this is true. For me, Eddie is the only Venom. Same as how Mac Gargan will always be the Scorpion to me. I never liked them handing out the symbiote to other characters.

I don't have a problem with Marvel making more symbiotic characters, but the Venom symbiote has a unique story that is irrevocably influenced with its eventual relationships wit Peter and Eddie. At some point, Marvel got the idea that it could just pass the symbiote and Venom name on to other characters and easily replicate the success they had with Eddie. That hasn't been the case. The original symbiote should stay with Eddie.

Gargan as Venom always felt like a cool "What If...?" concept but never really jived in main continuity IMO. Haven't read the new Venom (I need to) but I think Brock has had a really compelling (if incongruous) journey from the OMD era to the current Carnage series by Conway. I'd love to see him back in the symbiote, but we need a new story with him--not the same tried and trite antihero crap they've been pushing since his popularity exploded in the 90s.

The black symbiote has a new, villainous host named Lee Price who is forcing it into acts against its will. It's pretty obvious that the symbiote wants to get away from Price, but I'm not sure where they'll go from there.

Did they ever give a reason as to why Flash is no longer using the Symbiote?
Also, if the Symbiote healed Cletus and gave him new legs, why didn't it do so for Flash?
Granted, Cletus' Symbiote was "born" on Earth and has some different abilities, but that seems like something inherent in the parent Symbiote... it can cure diseases and other ailments, so why not?

My faith in Marvel has been plummeting lately, and what they're doing with Venom is the poster child for their mess of an editorial system. First you've got the brilliant Agent Venom status quo, then Bendis drags him into space. And just when the Space Knight story settled in, Flash inexplicably has the suit taken away, drops off the face of the Earth, and given to a random guy who is apparently only going to have it for, like, 5 issues before it arbitrarily gets given back to Brock, probably negating all of the development the symbiote and Brock had in their time apart. :cmad:

Why would anyone be confused?

It's been 13 years since Eddie had the black symbiote. There are certainly new readers who aren't familiar with the unusual ongoing-story-by-minis in Venom's history. Plus, the upcoming Venom #150 following Venom #6 is a weird way to compile and number a character's series.

In case anyone is confused about the upcoming Venom #150, Marvel's numbering and logic is a bit muddled. They're counting all of the different minis and one-shots of all of the "Venoms".

Here's a full list:

They are including the "Super Special" that list, but the Spider-Man Super Specials are all not counted in the numbering of their respective books because they act more like annuals.

Also that Unicef mail in book is missing from the list...

Holy testicle Tuesday!

Holy testicle Tuesday! Didn't realize it had been OVER a DECADE...

I feel like it's been far too long. I initially thought Marvel was separating Eddie and the symbiote for a couple of years to re-launch a new Venom series to coincide with SM3 or a Venom solo. As the years wore on, I got more and more frustrated. I liked the Anti-Venom and Toxin arcs for Eddie, but they were short-lived. Eddie's reunion with the black symbiote could have come in handy at several points during the last few years, but Marvel seemed intent on making new "Venoms" instead of just adding new symbiote characters.

Like I said, it's really muddled. Marvel just wanted a landmark number to put on a book.

:pcg:

I don't think that Super Special should count...
If anything, it acted like an Annual...

Yup, the build up For Amazing 600 and again for 700 didn't count the Super Specials, so Venom shouldn't

Expecting Marvel to exercise any semblance of common sense or adhere to THEIR OWN ESTABLISHED RULES is just a waste of time at this point. The comic side of things is being run into the ground--luckily they have the MCU to fall back on.

I can't wait to see what this is about....

What? Marvel using gimmicks to sell books? No way :o

It's like a Symbiote reality TV show. 10 strangers picked to live in a house...it's the 'real-symbiote-world.'
