I think it could be close if both characters had to survive, but if either character could just kill, Venom wins in a second. Also Ock is a scientist, he just never had, doesn't have and never will have the fighter mentality, where as Venom is a seasoned brawler. Venom could take a few hits and get up. ock get's punched across the face and he's knocked out of the park.

Why would flying assist you in fighting Doc Ock? Unless you can shoot and fly, I see no advantage.

ottos arms can block his webs. and i know venom is strong and all that but he cant pass ottos arms to attack him.

And yet he still manages to do it, and win quite often. The point is that there's nothing Spider-Man can do, other than use the spider-sense, that Venom can't...and Venom can do many more things that Spider-Man can't. So unless we're saying now that Spider-Man never hits Otto, "big mechanical arms" is pretty poor grounds for claiming the Otto is safe from Venom.

I'd say Venom would just power straight THROUGH Ock. Ock's mobility is nowhere near Venom's either, so getting away won't be easy.

In an impromptu battle, Doc's arrogance would cause him to take Venom somewhat lightly. He'd view him as being inferior to Spider-Man and forget that he's dealing with a far more vicious version of the wall crawler. Venom would capitalise on the fact that he is a killer and Spider-Man is not and would kill or at least maim Doc.

On the other hand, if Doc was expecting Venom's arrival for whatever reason, he might be armed with sonics and explosives and then move in for the kill.

Most case scenerios, I think Venom takes it.

Venom's better than Spidey in almost all regards, so if we're talking about an all-out brawl between the two on average terms Ock is sort of screwed. However, if Otto's sporting the adamantium arms or hiding some custom enhancements putting the mechanical arms out of the equation would be a bit difficult. If I give Otto's brilliance the benefit of the doubt I suppose he could find a way to best Venom. This is, after all, a man who can conceivably take on other members of the Sinister Six if he had to. Still, Spider-Man has only beaten Venom on a tactical level just barely in their encounters. If Venom had not depleted his webbing so much in their initial meeting, he would have made spider stew out of Pete. Venom isn't a mental pushover that would fall for Ock's ploys easily; it takes a lot of planning to edge him out.

All in all, I lean towards Venom. He's much more intelligent than the average fighter, with a symbiote that surpasses Spidey in power to boot. Ock would require a lot of preparation for the fight to edge him out, whereas Venom has many natural advantages that would render Doctor Octopus' normal tactics moot in an all-out fight (easily pictured, as Venom is homicidal and Ock is easily enraged with the proper motivation).

I'd say Doc Ock, becasue the symbiote in my opinion would bond with the Doc. and it would just be Eddie Brock ( or Mac Gargan depending on which Venom) standing there screwed..

Why would it bond with Ock? Spider-Man is understandable. Wolverine, even. But Ock? Ock's basic strength is having a high inteligence. Brock, on the other hand, is a great physical specimen that would be enhanced through bonding to levels even the symbiote would benefit from. Ock's fairly weak in comparison. I just can't see why it would bond with Ock of all people. Even a fairly fit person off the street would be a better choice.

only thing i wonder if ock can use his tentacles like a proper whip.
The tip of a whip (and the crack you hear when it snaps) is actually a mini sonic boom which could be absolutely lethal to venom (as evidenced in the recent "beyond" mini).

However ock's tentacles maybe too thick for that.

You're giving way too much credit to Ock. By the time it became a close quarters confrontation Brock will have decapitated the frail scientist. If this is Doc Ock the way he should be written, hand-to-hand would be a last resort. Spider-Man knocked him out the first time by immobilizing those same arms, and even if Venom couldn't overpower him webbing to the face has always proven to bring a disadvantage. Venom not only has superior strength, but Spider-Man's better qualities as well. Ock would be stupid not to realize that in CQB he's outmatched.

Venom has also shoved symbiote down people's throats to suffocate them. If he did this to Otto, there's nothing his arms or intelligence could do to prevent his death. I will give the good doctor credit where credit is due. I belive that if he expected the fight, he may win but in an impomptu battle Venom takes it. Of course this is unless Spidey shows up and interferes.

It depends, I'm a fan of the two, but it really depends.
If it's an all out fight due to a random encounter, it'd get nasty and brutal but Brock would win in the end.

If it was planned, you can freakin' bet that Ock would deck out his Tentacles and carry some , electric, flaming and sonic gear. He's a brilliant dude so I can't really see him avoiding homework on a foe.
