The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Venom

How about using a dog as an example. Naturally aggressive dog = evil?

Is a wild animal evil? Are silverback gorillas evil? Hungry lions?

Precisely. I used that exact example in one of my posts. Aggression and Evil are not synonymous.

I think, while not evil, Doc Ock was clearly mentally unstable prior to the accident. The accident was, however, the trigger. It's the same way with most mental illnesses that you carry it for long with some signs of it now and then, until there's a trigger that surfaces it entirely.

I am aware of the fact that the accident damaged his brain, so I'm not arguing that. I still think the A.I. chip is a bad way to interprete that though, and I'm still very disappointed that they went with that. The same way I'm disappointed that he didn't feel like a "Masterplanner". Also the same way I'm disappointed we didn't get to see Connor's family in ASM, or Lizard not being feral enough.

And yes, you can be mentally and emotionally unstable while still being a great scientist.

I share your disappointment (on all counts) to an extent, Oscorp. I think Molina and Ifans were both great in their roles, but there was something lacking from their overall stories that could have made them more interesting.

Molina was perfect as Doc Ock. Ifans wasn't perfect, but good enough. IMO, of course.

I agree with this. ^

He was perfect for the Doc Ock they portrayed. Had they added some more depth to him it would have been different.

I wouldn't say perfect (in my opinion there's always room for improvement or change, even for fan favorites like RDJ, Hugh Jackman, and JK Simmons). But he gave one hell of a performance. Hard to think of a better actor for the role. I think the writing just made for some missed opportunities for Doc Ock. He really shines in the middle of the movie when he's truly a villain. But, in the beginning of the movie, he was presented as an average, albeit brilliant, man. I would have liked to see some of those bouts of aggression or anguish that were part of Otto's personality before going mad. But, again, that's not Molina's fault. I have every confidence he could have pulled it off had Raimi and co. decided to go that direction.

This is a thread about Venom but we are talking about Ock.

He makes for a more interesting discussion than Venom.

Why don't we compromise and talk about... Monster Ock?

They have a villain like Shocker that can do a lot of damage and serve as the movie’s opening piece. It could start off with the spaceship crashing and him finding the suit while building up Brock’s character and hatred for Peter/Spider-Man, then at the end have the symbiote crawl onto him, then end it.

I read that sarcastically...

I want Agent Venom.

Send Flash off to War in ASM2 and introduce the symbiote during ASM3 when he gets it from saving a crashing space shutte.

Have Peter grapple with the suit in ASM3 and hand it ver to a friendly scientist at the end, have the Goverment confiscate it and give it to Flash after he returns a hero with no legs in the ASM3 after credits.

Have an Agent Venom movie for ASM4 or set it during the same time. Have Flash lose control and battle Spidey then master the symbiote and continue

I also really want a Flash Thompson/Venom movie. So sad that his ongoing is ending, just as Bunn was starting to write good arcs.

That looks good except that he shouldn't turn rogue

He could lose control temporarily as he did when fighting Spidey in #4 of Remender's series.

Sadly this franchise being a reboot means that there are alot of people that basically get guidance from raimis movies about how spider-man should be

*andrew garfield isn't peter parket only tobey maguire is
*spider-man should have organic web shooters
*spider-man shouldn't be funny and mock villians

So i can only imagine the uproar is flash was venom

Zylka as Venom? That's a bit weird, no and no thanks. The whole angle won't be able to cut it. At least not in my opinion.

Brock is the true Venom. Wish this guy had a little mercy from the writers. First he's Venom, goes through cancer, then he's Antivenom, and suddenly he's Toxin.
