How many of you hypers watch films on VHS now and then. I still do all the time and don't plan on stopping anytime soon because VHS is cool. I own alot of movies on vhs that I'm to cheap to convert to dvd.

VHS kicks ass, I still watch rare stuff on VHS.

I can get films for cheap on video, in charity shops, but I mainly prefer to watch films on DVD.

I kept a few VHS tapes, but I don't have a VCR hooked up to our tv in the living room. Our only VCR is hooked up in the bedroom and it's collecting dust. I love my DVD and home theater set up and nothing beats better picture, and true DD surround sound or DTS sound.

I still watch some things on VHS....not because it is "cool"....but because they are not on DVD as of yet.

I now a days just get all my VHS tapes onto DVD... can fit like 6 or 7 of them on to DVD... I need to otherwise most of them are starting to go crap and just run badly since I've had them for so long.

after being spoiled by DVD, i can't go back to VHS. the quality is just far superior.

I've been transferring many old tapes over to DVD myself.....but some of them have the "Macrovision" setting, so they can't be dubbed.

I'm a sports fanatic and still have a ton of NBA/NFL games (all the way back to the 80's) on tape that I occassionally watch when the mood strikes. As much as I would like to transfer these games to DVD it would take an eon so that's pretty much the only reason I still have a VCR.

Try transferring them when you're doing something else where you don't need to spend that time watching them (setting something up when going to bed can be done).....

I still have a whole bunch of VHS. And since I don't have a DVR at the moment. I record stuff from TV onto video.

About a Year ago I had a strong Urge to watch Face Off...I dunno why.

and I didn't want to leave the house....So I dug out my Box of VHSs and my VCR and I watched it.....I sat through the whole thing, but I could hear the reels moving and it was almost unbearable.

I have not watched a VHS since.

I have a giant VHS collection I'll never get rid of. I just couldn't find it in my heart to throw them out because I've had most of them for so long.

Sometimes with VHS vidoes I feel like I'm watching dirty soggy cardboard moving picturse. The picture quality so often is just damn horrible, plus them being full screen. I do, I do if they're not on Dvd, but ber.hfh. Some of them are startying to get this retro feeling vibe to them, though. Kind of nostalgic:dry:

How does VHS kick ass? Its too big, bulky, loses quality and comes closer to breaking with every viewing, can be erased with a magnet, has crap quality sound and video, and so on, is linear, and you have to rewind it. Plus no extras unless you count coming attractions.

After being spoiled with DVD, I can say I will never watch VHS again, and thank god for that. Its like going back to living in trees after living in a house.

The only thing cool about VHS is when you set it on fire or throw it at someone. Useful then.

The only VHS tapes I've kept are 1995 Star Wars tapes.

I have a lot of VHS tapes and I'm too lazy to convert.

I have Spider-Man and X-Men cartoons on VHS which is why I still have those because I want to buy full season sets on DVD and not just measly episodes.

Careful... it bites!

That's why VHS kicks ass, because they turn into monsters and make you hallucinate! Long live the new flesh!

how odd, i was just watching small soldiers on VHS tonight as i was painting my design homework.

and I say odd because small soldiers was the first dvd i ever saw.

what's even more odd is that i'm in college and was watching it on the big screen in our lounge. the quality sucked.

I used to record lots of rented movies onto vhs but that is a hobby I have since grown out of, plus the tapes would just clutter up my room. I had to store them out in a cold building so the tapes are probably all moldy & decayed now. I have a number of pre-recorded vhs tapes that I managed to record some over to dvd but due to the macroprotection I wasn't able to transfer all of them over to dvd.

It sounds simple but when I look at all of those videotapes it makes me tired and lazy lol. If I transferred one VHS tape a day it would take me about 3+ years to do them all. My girlfriend has been trying to make me get rid of them for years now. I keep them in the shed so they don't take up room in the house.

Literally THE only.
That first post saying VHS is cool is one of the most absurd things I've ever read on the Hype and the reasons are obvious to anyone.

But you have a good point.
IF you're trying to kill someone with:

a) a DVD

or

b) a VHS tape

Yes, the VHS tape's gargantuan bulk, weight and sharp corners are clearly superior to the wafer-thin, round, almost weightless DVD.
So as a weapon for a ******ed caveman, VHS is the "coolest".
