Videodrome being remade. Yes you read that correctly.

I don't get this at all. From what I can tell, the premise has almost nothing to do with the original. Plus, outside of Cronenberg fans, the title Videodrome means nothing to the general public. That seems the worst of both worlds.

But it's not my money and I doubt it will make any impact. Low expectations are probably the movie's friend in this case.

Pretty much how I feel point to point. Very, very odd thing to be remade.

Except for this part:

Ewww yea, I didn't read that part. I just Videodrome remake and I was like FINALLY! lol I can't help it I get excited for remakes just for the hope that they'll be as good as the original. It is possible

what a random movie to choose to remake

That was my first thought. I think it's going to be like The Thing, nobody showed up for the good version and the won't show up for the new more mediocre version either.

As I said I'm not going to pretend that I'm in love with Videodrome or find it to be untouchable but the got together a duo who won't come out with a good remake so I don't get why they are remaking it. Come back to me when a good writer and director are onboard then I will give a flying **** and not expect the movie to suck. Eren Kruger is a sucky writer right now bringing up movies over a decade old just proves the point. What little talent he had is gone and buried.

You can't really remake a Cronenberg movie without it basically looking like you're trying to tone it down. It won't be as acid trip as the original.

It's like remaking a Tarantino film: It's uniquely his and impossible to replicate in a remake. Image a Pulp Fiction remake: It' would be missing the point on why that movie became influential in the first place. It's not just the 'branding', the dancing scene in the club, or non-conventional storyline. It was the total package: The directing, acting, writing, etc. That movie magic that was strictly (or mostly) QT's.
