I would Say the Viral marketing for TDK was one of the best parts of the whole experience.

I have a couple of ideas of how to keep it going.

The Gotham times is a MUST. Maybe a copy every 6 or so months, maybe the first few issues dealing with the aftermath of TDK, then once a story is set and filming begins, more plots points of BB3.

I hope Riddler is the villain, he just SCREAMS potential for VM.

I saw a Manip poster with "WhereIsHarveyDent.com" I love the idea that some people in Gotham believe he is alive and are trying to uncover the truth.

Riddlemethis.com? I'm thinking puzzles and quizzes...much like the first round at Comic con 07, where Joker gave questions we had to search for.

If the viral story gets as involved as TDK, Websites for new DA election, Remebering Rachel Dawes, Remembering Loeb...

Citizensagainstbatman.com? With bumper stickers, shirts, etc.

I really, really loved the Gotham Tonight episodes. I hope for more...

Idk, just my ideas.

I personally hope CFB is still around for the next round.

Yeah, that would be awesome.
TDKs viral is one of the things that made it so incredible.
It just made it so much more fun!

There is alot of potential things that could be incorporated into viral marketing!

But the virals started last year, with begins coming out 3 years ago, so if there will be one, expect a huge wait for it to fire up!

But im all for Riddler, and if he is confirmed (if the 3rd movie is...) i can't wait to see what he has in store for us!

Not that I have a problem with the Riddler, but I would like to see some other Bat villains on the big screen. With a loaded gallery of wack jobs, it would be nice to see something new to cinema instead of, here's a villain that sucked, but this is how he could be better.

I actually wouldn't mind the mad Hatter.

Just because he's not really in any of the movies and i think Nolan could do him some justice.

But i'm not quite sure how the marketing would go.

I got a text from a restricted number and squealed until i realized that it was a wrong number.

I agree, the Riddler would be terrific in a viral campaign. Although... well, the Joker was already the Joker, so no need for an origin story. But would it be the same with the Riddler? I mean, I don't see him becoming the Riddler prior to the beginning of the film, like the Joker. So, maybe we won't have a real Riddler in the campaign. It will all depend on how Nolan decides to portray the villain on the screen.

I agree that the Riddler is kind of a weak villain, but I think Nolan could create the Riddler in a movie like he did with Two-Face, and it would still work out. But as a villain, the Riddler always struck me as kind of weak and stupid. He's the Brian Douglass of supervillains. But I think Nolan could re-shape the Riddler.

And, I think there needs to be a new lady. The question is, will it be someone original, like Rachel, or will it be someone from the comics who is not, per se, a villain, like Talia, or will it be someone who IS a villain...like Catwoman or Poison Ivy? For some reason, I don't expect it to be Catwoman because if Nolan expects to attempt the spark of a love interest between any new female and Bruce/Bats, Catwoman is ridiculously overdone...and apart from that, we've seen it in Batman Returns. I can't see him going for anything too similar to one of the Burton/Schumacher debacles.

I think Hush would be a really cool villain--a guy so dedicated to destroying the Batman that he manipulates every part of Bats' world is a very Nolanesque character. BUT, the true identity of Hush would have to change, because one thing I know a lot of people hated about Hush was how his big secret identity was a character created basically for the sole purpose of being Hush. In the comics, I suppose that works out okay--the retroactive character creation thing--but with Nolan, I can't see him doing like a flashback and being all, "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention..." But perhaps he would. I think if anyone could do it right, it would be Nolan. OR, he could tweak the real identity of Hush, since, even if he used Hush, it would be pretty impossible for one of Nolan's movies to actually play out like that without seeming too much like a joke told poorly--"So this cowboy walked into a bar and he was like...'Do you have any nails?' Oh wait, I forgot to mention the cowboy had those spur things on his boots. And the bartender was like..."

(I do also LOVE the idea that Gotham citizens don't believe Dent is dead. That would be a way cool theme for a third viral.)

I do hope that some stuff carries over, or at least there are throwbacks. I mean, if 42e still does it, I'm pretty sure there WILL be some throwbacks (because they even mix in throwbacks to unrelated games they've done).

I think a Gotham citizens related viral would be awesome. Instead of the bad guy running it, it could start with people looking for Harvey. hmm...

Yeah that'd be cool.
But i'm really all about being a Goon.

I'll miss gettin' those clown clues. I refused to work for gordon.

But i'd have no objections to working for another bad-guy.

Atleast until Mistah J comes back along.

I'm devoted to him. lol.

Weak physically, yes...but mentally he is one of Batman's smartest foes. His OCD is what gets him in trouble. I've always thought that his deathtraps were fantastic, but I don't really know if the Riddler could carry a movie?

As far as the lady goes, there has to be a new lady. As much as I hate to admit to it, there are never GREAT movies without a love story of some sort thrown in.

Ugh, i hate love stories.

atleast the ones with happy endings.

Because not EVERYTHING ends that way.

That's why i like the B-man movies.

and they need to show Echo or Query in the movie with the Riddler, IF they're gonna put him in it.

www.riddlemethis.com would be an amazing viral marketing website for the riddler. It would be like www.whysoserious.com, but would contain stuff showing on The Riddler's desk instead of The Jokers. Other ideas for viral websites for "Batman 3" would be like www.gothamarkhamasylum.com, containing files on the criminals, information on the asylum, information on the workers of the asylum, pictures of the asylum, business opening/time, and stuff to get Gotham City people to join the business. Another great idea from me would be www.wayneenterprises.com, a website for Wayne Enterprises containing project invention gadgets made by Lucius Fox, information on the business, time schedule, and advertisements. You Batfans have lovely ideas, as well.

Hmmm. Well, I dunno. Maybe it's just my perception of the Riddler, but he becomes predictable at times. I just think that at first he is a formidable enemy, but he adheres too much to a routine, which eventually just makes him really easy to beat. Then again, I daresay he wouldn't have time to fall into that routine in the duration of one movie--but then again, who knows what the narrative timeline of the third movie would be? I mean in Begins it's like 20 years, but in TDK it's...I dunno, it's impossible to really tell, but honestly all the action in the movie could've taken place in like...a week. (Realistically I would estimate more than that, because there are a few events with uncertain timelines as memory serves, but a lot of them necessarily occur one right after the other.) Of course, one would surmise that the third movie would go just as quickly as TDK...but then again, who knows how Nolan would want to finish it? Would he want it to end at the end, or would he want it to end on a note of assumed continuation of the Bat?

I agree that love stories with happy endings often suck. (But to be fair, there are some good ones with happy endings.) But you said it...Batman doesn't really DO happy endings. Ever. Sometimes he defeats his enemy, but there is always a cost. Batman is like House. He can never really be happy because that's the nature of his person. For Batman there is no happily ever after.

I never actually thought of him as a house, but that's a good point.lol.

I want to see the Kabuki Twins.
>.>
<.<

I'm an identical twin, so it would work out well for my sister and I. :woot:

holy crap i cannot wait for new marketing, i think maybe some VERY VERY vague references to metropolis or bludhaven would be cool, too

and i would like a black mask appearance.

Ya forgot Star City.
(Green arrow, Black Canary)

Yea Black Mask would be pretty cool.

I keep thinkin' Gerard Butler would make a good one.

A photomanip by me, done on Microsoft Paint and Photoshop, of a screen capture on my idea on a Riddler viral website, www.riddlemethis.com.

Awesomeness. I love the all green rubix cube.

Joker circled letters in The Gotham times, Riddler could cut out letters, making words leading to new websites. I don't really see him vandalizing the times though.

But It depends on Whether Riddler will be a full blown villain at the begging of BB3. If Not, Why Viral?

Did this really quick on paint...but you get the idea...

I'd love for the third movie to go in this direction. I think Nolan's producer wife Emma even told IGN the last shot of Two-Face was meant to be ambiguous. Plus the big questionmark makes me wonder if the Riddler isn't somehow involved (or would be, if this were real).

I really love the idea, but to have a pre-third movie Riddler commiting crimes would mean that he would show up on the screen the same way the Joker did.. without a background. And I am not sure they would do this again.

Maybe one way to handle this would be to keep the identity of the Riddler a secret. I mean, we could have a movie in which a criminal called the Riddler was the head of a gang and nobody would know his identity - not even us. There would not be a man named Edward Nashton/Nygma, until later, when Batman finds out his true identity. It would be somehow like The Usual Suspects.

This would make it possible to show more of Batman's detective abilities AND would also leave us with a mistery that would not be spoiled just because we read Batman comics. The Riddler could be shown in some sort of uniform, but his face would never be shown until near the end. I think that would be interesting and would allow the virals to start really early and could very well link to the "where is Harvey Dent?" and "where is Batman?" plot.
