Virtual Console Update Thread

Yeah, it's that Rare is owned by Microsoft and Activision owns the 007 rights. Which all to me is rediculous, the game is out and exists, just let Nintendo use it, no one else is.

Which also means that Perfect Dark probably won't make it's way onto VC either. Which sucks too.

Still I don't see why both companies can can't both use them to compromise.
Add an extra 100 points to Goldeneye if Activision wants a cut. People will pay.

How did the Diddy Kong Racing DS game come about? They added new features and took out certain characters. A Viva Pinata port is coming to the DS.

Even if Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and Banjo ever do make it to the Virtual Console there are plenty of other games from the Rare library.

Finally, Super Metroid. Of course the day it comes out, my parents are gone for 2 days :(

if u guys have a PSP, just homebrew. i have every SNES, NES, Sega, Sega genesis game on that thing.

Nintendo got the rights to all things Donkey Kong when Rare left, so they also got the rights to Diddy Kong Racing. All they had to do was replace Banjo and Conker, since Rare still owns them.

And I also believe that Rare no longer has the Battletoads license, I'm pretty sure its stuck in limbo right now. I may be wrong though, I read that back when before Super Smash Bros. Melee came out.

Pretty good week for VC considering the major release this week.

Breath of Fire II
Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super C

Yup, I'm going to be picking up both BOFII and Super C.:woot:

Breath of Fire II sounds good. I might be getting that after I finish up a few other games first.

Nice to see that this week didn't have a TG16 release.

Sooo.....

Are Golden Eye64, Prince of Persia, Super Metroid, and....well everything else coming to the Virtual Console? I thought all games were supossed to come out that were once on NES, SNES, N64 or Neo Geo.

Ownership rights have switched on and off since alot of the games were released... Though Super Metroid just came out I think. But it's a big battle to get Goldeneye.

Ah so then maybe not every game will come out?

Since I am obviously not up to date on everything, I was still under the impression that Nintendo's stance was they were going to release all games from their consoles dating from the N64 and earlier.

I don't remember them saying such a thing. It's not their fault that the rights to Goldeneye are split up 3 ways.

A revamp of the first Prince of Persia was released onto Xbox Live with improved graphics. That would point to me that POP is also in some kind of rights issue.

And it obviously was never planned as an instant "Here are all the games!" thing. It takes time to add all these games.

If they get Goldeneye, Nintendo will win the Internet and the world :(

I would castrate all of you if it meant playing Goldeneye with dual controls on the Wii's VC.

I never said it would be an instant thing. Obviously it makes more sense to realse X amount of games over time. But before the Wii was released I was informed by a couple friends and read in a few mags that all titles would eventually be realsed. Obviously this info was/is incorrect and/or overstated.

They only release 4-5 games a week, obviously it will take a very long time to get all the good games up.

yay, Bonk 3 and now my Bonk collection is complete.:woot:

What happens to my VC games if the Wii breaks?
